His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2302: Chapter 664: One Year Later (41)_5

”We agreed it’s my treat!”

Lun Yun was a little flattered and caught off guard.

”Don’t start that with me here!”

Qin Mu told her, without the slightest temper.

”Alright then, I won’t be polite!”

Lun Yun knew she and Mu Yichen hadn’t divorced yet, and everyone here treated Qin Mu with extreme respect. Since she was on their turf, she didn’t bother being polite either.

After ordering, Lun Yun said, ”I told you two wouldn’t get divorced. Just looking at the way you carry yourself here, I can tell!”

Qin Mu let out a helpless little laugh. ”You can even read something into that?”

”Of course!”

Lun Yun sounded a bit proud of herself.

After the staff poured their drinks and left, Qin Mu rested her hand lightly on the chilled glass. She couldn’t help giving Lun Yun a once-over. Today Lun Yun was wearing a black knit dress, with nothing hanging around her neck. Qin Mu thought of that girl from the other night and couldn’t help smiling again. ”You really have changed a lot.”

”Hahaha! I knew you must’ve been freaked out that day. Because Xiaoyi was there too, there were some things I couldn’t say. Today it’s just the two of us, so I can properly spill my guts to you!”

As she spoke, Lun Yun lifted her glass to toast Qin Mu.

”Okay!”

Qin Mu was actually happy to listen. After staying in Rongcheng for this stretch of time, she felt like she was rusting.

”Actually, I’ve known about you for a long time.”

Lun Yun suddenly said, setting down her glass and looking at Qin Mu with a very friendly gaze.

Qin Mu looked at her with some confusion. Known about her for a long time? Because she was always on TV?

”It’s not because you’re an ad star, it’s because of Gongzhi Ping’an.”

Lun Yun said, very straightforward.

Hearing the name Gongzhi Ping’an, Qin Mu couldn’t stop herself from looking at her a few more times. The scene from that night flashed through her mind: in Gongzhi Ping’an’s car, the person sitting inside—she had only seen a blurry outline—but it had seemed like Lun Yun’s figure.

”But don’t get the wrong idea. At best I’m just his underground lover. I’m not the one he’s going to marry.”

Lun Yun smiled, but there was a bit of awkwardness there, or maybe sadness, and she lowered her head.

Qin Mu held her breath and didn’t say anything to interrupt, just faintly recalling that people had said Gongzhi Ping’an had a bed partner outside.

Bed partner?

The word sounded simple, but it was actually incredibly hurtful.

Qin Mu quietly watched her, not really sure how to comfort her for the moment.

”When I met him, he was just about to be assigned to work in the provinces. That night he had a few too many drinks, and I had a few too many as well, and then the two of us just... Afterward, I don’t even know what possessed me. He was leaving, and I went with him behind my family’s back, and spent a few years there teaching high school.”

Qin Mu still didn’t know what to say. Maybe right now she was only suited to being a quiet listener?

”He doesn’t actually talk about you all the time. Every now and then he’d just say there was a girl he liked. Later I saw him often reading news about you and President Mu, so that’s how I got to know who you were.”

Lun Yun didn’t go into detail about her and Gongzhi Ping’an; instead, she steered them back to the main subject.

Qin Mu’s lips moved with a bit of awkwardness. ”Why are you still with him?”

Because she knew Gongzhi Ping’an was about to get married, she had to ask. Gongzhi Ping’an was obviously not much of a good man, even if he had had a secret crush on her for years.

”Liking someone is just like that—you can’t let go, you can’t put it down. Sometimes I grit my teeth and decide to leave, but the moment he comes looking for me, I’m helpless all over again.”

Lun Yun was smiling to the point of tears, pitiful to the extreme.

Qin Mu felt a bit of heartache for her and let out a helpless sigh. Matters of the heart really were like this.

”You’ve always wanted to shake off President Mu too, but you can’t, can you?”

Lun Yun suddenly joked, though the words themselves were serious.

”Should I not be putting your situation and mine with Gongzhi Ping’an in the same sentence? I really don’t mean to insult your relationship, don’t get me wrong!”

Lun Yun had said a whole lot, while Qin Mu had only said that one line, so she explained, a little worried.

”I won’t misunderstand.”

Qin Mu explained.

Lun Yun...

Qin Mu was just like that—on some topics she hardly said anything at all. Lun Yun just wasn’t used to it yet.

”President Mu!”

Lun Yun suddenly looked past her shoulder, calling out a little nervously.
