His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2090: Chapter 595: Restless Heart (Part 5)

Gongzhi Ping’an called her on his way back to the workplace.

”Okay! No problem, you can ask for anything!”

If I can help, I will; if not, I won’t force it.

Qin Mu thought these things in her heart but her words were very generous.

”It’s nothing much, just that we have a social event at work soon, and we want to go to your store to buy some decent outfits with a few colleagues. If you’re there then, that would be great.”

Gongzhi Ping’an said calmly, stopping the car steadily at the traffic lights, recalling Qin Mu’s childhood appearance.

”Okay! Just notify me a few hours in advance!”

It was a small matter, Qin Mu agreed.

”You’re truly my Xiaomu, I’ll hang up first, and will call you ahead of time then!”

”Mm!”

Qin Mu didn’t know where he got the phrase ”truly my Xiaomu” from, but she couldn’t dwell on it too much; she owed him this favor, after all.

After hanging up the phone, Qin Mu took her pajamas into the bathroom, washed away the cold from outside, and lay down on the bed to rest.

Mu Yichen sent her a message when she was already asleep, and Mu Yichen waited a long time in the office without her response, prompting his chest to tighten and making him breathless.

”A cup of coffee!”

Mu Yichen pressed the internal line to call Yang Qin.

”Yes!”

Yang Qin, who was working, put aside her tasks immediately to grind coffee upon hearing his request.

Yang Qin pondered, not knowing if Qiao Yi had mentioned the words from Zhang Hongyun’s father to him.

Should she bring it up?

While delivering the coffee, Yang Qin hesitated: ”Mr. Mu, when Zhang Hongyun’s father apologized at the old office building, he asked me to pass on his apology to you, saying sorry for causing you much trouble.”

”Mm!”

Mu Yichen didn’t expect her to mention this matter, having forgotten about it.

Yang Qin remained puzzled; whether his ”mm” indicated he already knew or was simply indifferent.

”Mr. Mu, thank you!”

Yang Qin thought, feeling grateful that he freed her from such a huge trouble, wanting to repay him but fearing he might not need it.

She considered inviting him for dinner or coffee, just sitting together briefly, to properly thank him, but she didn’t dare.

”Thank me? Thank me for what?”

Mu Yichen sipped his coffee lightly before asking her.

”For Zhang Hongyun’s incident, if it weren’t for you, her father wouldn’t have taken her away!”

Yang Qin spoke nonetheless.

”Ha! If it’s about this, you thanked the wrong person!”

Mu Yichen chuckled slightly, placing down the coffee, and explained to her.

”Thank the wrong person?”

Yang Qin couldn’t understand, her eyes filled with cautious light as she asked.

”It was Qiao Yi, using my name to call Zhang Hongyun’s father. He and Zhao Huai felt uneasy seeing you being bullied by Zhang Hongyun, it had nothing to do with me!”

Mu Yichen explained the story in its entirety.

Yang Qin felt a chill across her shoulders, perhaps because there was no air conditioning in the office.

Yang Qin attempted to speak but merely choked up, then blinked and nodded, uncertain whether she felt disappointed or foolish for her misplaced affections.

Mu Yichen sighed helplessly seeing her expression: ”Go back to work!”

”Yes!”

She nodded, reluctantly turning away.

After leaving the office, she found herself unable to move, leaning quietly against the door and shedding silent tears.

She pondered silently: So it truly was my misplaced feelings!

So it was Qiao Yi and Zhao Huai who helped, not him!

Indeed! Why would he help her? He already likes someone else.

Yang Qin returned to her office space, feeling a blockage in her heart, leaving her unable to breathe calmly for a long time.

After finishing the coffee, Mu Yichen stood up, took his coat and phone, then left.

When Yang Qin heard him coming out, she instinctively looked up at him.

Mu Yichen left as usual without acknowledging her, while Yang Qin felt heart-rending pain, refraining from saying a word for fear of irritating him.

Until her phone rang again, snapping her back to reality. She picked up: ”Hello?”

”Come up, I’m here!”

The call of duty forced her to remain composed, regardless of how she couldn’t let her colleagues see her in such distress.

Meanwhile, Mu Yichen went to the parking lot, took a car, and drove home.

Along the way, his hand couldn’t help tapping lightly on the steering wheel, a sense of restlessness prevailing, worrying about a wrong assumption or if Qin Mu was not home.
