His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2063: Chapter 588: I’m Back (3)

Lost, lost quite badly!

”Keep going!”

Compared to her flustered appearance, Mu Yichen was indeed much more composed.

The old man couldn’t help but chuckle, thinking this girl was quite serious about it.

In the second round, Qin Mu lost again.

Qin Mu was so upset that she leaned back into the sofa, her face turning a bit pale.

”Girl, should grandpa win it back for you?”

”Then, Grandpa, you better crush him until he can’t make another move.”

Qin Mu thought Mu Yichen was too arrogant and that someone needed to take him down a notch.

Strangely enough, he usually doesn’t mind losing, but today he’s suddenly so formidable? Qin Mu crossed her arms childishly and stared straight at his face.

But the whole morning—

”You punk, were you just messing with me before?”

Even the old man got flustered later on. A few months ago, Mu Yichen had beaten him a few times, but since then, he had kept losing. The old man always thought it was because of Mu Yichen’s bad luck or lack of skill. But today?

Last time Mu Yichen won, Feng Fanghua teased him for not letting the old man win, and Mu Yichen said the old man didn’t need him to go easy. So when the old man won later, he was quite smug, but today...

The rain outside hadn’t stopped, and the old man’s temper had risen.

”I don’t think I was just messing with you, it’s just that my luck is pretty good today!”

Mu Yichen said his luck was good, and he lifted his eyes to look at the woman across from him holding a pillow unhappily, smiling like a spring breeze.

Qin Mu looked at his expression and felt even more upset. She always had this illusion that Mu was saying, ”You don’t want me at home, and I don’t want to make things hard for you, but look, what can I do? It’s all fate!”

”You punk, I think you’re just lucky today. Get out of my way. Mumu, let’s play two more games.”

The old man now wanted to play two more rounds with his granddaughter-in-law, thinking he couldn’t let himself lose too badly.

”Then I demand a clear field! Mr. Mu can’t be here!”

When Qin Mu put down the pillow, she suggested, looking displeased at Mu Yichen.

”I’ll head to the study.”

Mu Yichen didn’t want to make things difficult for her, so he uncrossed his long legs, stood up, and left.

After seeing him leave, Qin Mu continued to play chess with the old man. The old man didn’t know why the young couple quarreled so happily every day but was used to it and felt it was as ordinary as a daily meal, continuing to have Qin Mu play chess with him.

Meanwhile, Mu Yichen glanced at his wristwatch and then turned on the large screen hanging on the wall, which showed a meeting room full of people who seemed about to tear each other apart.

Mu Yichen sat carelessly in his chair, half-narrowed his dark eyes at the screen: ”Continue!”

Why are you all looking at me?

Everyone was stunned. It had been a long time since they had seen Mr. Mu appear onscreen, not since he got married.

He used to love traveling abroad to find his wife, so he often had video meetings with them, but ever since Qin Mu returned, they could count the times on ten fingers.

What’s the reason this time?

Everyone thought of the heavy rain outside, and naturally didn’t dare say anything. And with his appearance, the atmosphere in the meeting room immediately cooled significantly, like having a bucket of cold water poured over their heads, suddenly calming them down. Though some spoke with a tone of emotion, it was all in their self-interest.

Yang Qin kept her head down, not saying a word, just taking notes, while Qiao Yi and Zhao Huai exchanged glances. Zhao Huai struggled to hold back his laughter, raising his hand slightly to rub his nose to cover his expression.

If Mu Yichen hadn’t suddenly appeared, they might have started fighting.

Zhao Huai thought, could it be that their Brother Chen just finished something with Sister Chen? He sneaked a glance at the screen and found Brother Chen seemed to be in a good mood, as if he had enjoyed himself.

——

By noon, the rain had gradually lessened.

The three of them ate noodles with soybean paste at home, with the old man noticing the kids weren’t home. He thought it would be nice to have a couple of drinks, so he looked up at Qin Mu and Mu Yichen.

”So, how about you two have some wine?”

Qin Mu and Mu Yichen exchanged looks, eating their noodles. Wine?

”No way!”

Mu Yichen refused outright.

”Oh! It’s just that you’re not accustomed to it, huh? It reminds me of the old days when your grandmother loved to make me noodles with soybean paste and prepare a small pot of liquor for me, warming it during cold days. Oh, it was wonderful.”

The old man spoke as if he was already reliving the past, but Qin Mu and Mu Yichen just looked at each other, exchanged thoughts, then silently lowered their heads.
