Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 337: Chapter 298: I Just Love That ”You Can’t Stand Me But Can’t Take Me Down” Attitude (Part 2)

Even Matthew Simon could think of this, so how could his boss not?

Now these big black men are coming for Matthew Simon’s life. Obviously, the mastermind behind the scenes is afraid that Lu Li will get the phone number from him, and then call it, tracing the signal back to the source.

Naturally, Matthew Simon must die.

The bald big black man nodded slightly, ”You’re a smart person. I believe you’ll make the right choice. If you die, your family will receive a considerable sum of compensation, allowing them to live in wealth for the rest of their lives, so go in peace.”

Although Matthew Simon really doesn’t want to die, he knows that if he doesn’t, his whole family will perish.

The patriarch indeed has the ability to destroy his entire family.

Although his boss can’t compare to such a fearsome person as the patriarch, it would be all too easy for him to wipe out Matthew Simon’s entire family.

Therefore, Matthew Simon knows that whether he dies or not, this matter cannot be resolved otherwise.

Matthew Simon took a deep breath, ”It’s easy to have me killed, but before I die, I have one last question.”

The bald big black man seemed quite intelligent, guessing the question immediately, ”You want to ask how your boss plans to deal with the patriarch after you die, right?”

Matthew Simon nodded, ”Yes.”

”There’s no harm in telling you this, as you’re about to die anyway.” The bald big black man said indifferently, ”The boss’s thinking is that because the patriarch vehemently denies his true identity, this person’s mindset is likely somewhat similar to Homelander from ’The Boys’, caring a lot about external opinions. Once the boss learned he couldn’t match the patriarch in hard power, he decided to start a battle of public opinion, like portraying the patriarch as a heartless killer. He would certainly try to clear his name, and in the short term, he wouldn’t dare to openly commit any heinous acts, such as troubling the boss, but there’s no guarantee he won’t act in the shadows. Therefore, you, someone who knows the boss’s contact information, must die.”

Matthew Simon understood.

No wonder the patriarch displayed such terrifying intimidation today, and some media dared to control the direction of public opinion.

It turns out his boss wanted to use the power of the media to ”bind” the patriarch.

After finishing, the bald big black man looked over and asked, ”I’ve answered your question, can you die now?”

”I can.” Matthew Simon took another deep breath and asked, ”How do you want me to die?”

The bald big black man waved his hand.

Several big black men placed a bottle of poison and a time bomb on the table.

The bald big black man said bluntly, ”I’ll watch you swallow this poison to die. As for the remotely controlled time bomb, it will explode the moment the patriarch comes and leaves here, after which global media will report that he killed you to silence you. By then, he’ll be caught in a whirlpool of public opinion, having no time to trouble the boss, and you can die with peace of mind.”

Matthew Simon gave a bitter smile, said nothing, stepped forward, and downed the poison in one gulp.

Shortly afterward, Matthew Simon’s breathing quickened, feeling weak and a headache.

He collapsed onto the ground, soon with his entire face flushed red, his body twitching uncontrollably.

This situation did not last long.

Gradually, Matthew Simon’s convulsions became lighter, all the muscles in his body slackened.

At this moment, a big black man with a scar on his face stepped forward and felt Matthew Simon’s heartbeat, then raised his head and said, ”Boss, his breathing and heartbeat have stopped.”

The bald big black man stood up, ”Put him on the couch, make him look asleep. We can withdraw successfully!”

...

It was around 2 a.m. in the Ugly Country.

In Los Angeles, within Julia Giannini’s beach villa.

In the bedroom, Lu Li was holding the bare-shouldered Julia Giannini, speaking softly, ”Are you tired? You should get some rest.”

”Phew, so tired.”

Julia Giannini blushed and couldn’t help but breathe out sweetly.

But she didn’t immediately sleep, instead, wrapped her arms around Lu Li and asked softly, ”How did you come over so quickly, were you originally in the Ugly Country?”

Lu Li chuckled, ”If I were originally in the Ugly Country, you’d be this tired every night.”

He was already flying at a speed of over 7,000 kilometers per hour.

Flying to the Ugly Country wouldn’t take two hours.

Of course, he arrived quickly.

Julia Giannini and Lu Li exchanged a few more affectionate words.

Then she seemed to remember something, ”Dear, are you the patriarch reported in the news?”

Although Julia Giannini hadn’t deliberately investigated who the patriarch was, she had interacted with Lu Li before, and he used the nickname ”Patriarch” during underground boxing matches. She could vaguely guess it, which was rather natural.

Since exhibiting enough deterrent force, Lu Li was no longer that afraid of having his identity revealed.

Moreover, the person asking this question was a woman who had been utterly conquered and had fallen for him.

Lu Li was not afraid she would leak this unimportant ”secret”.

He replied casually, ”Yes, are you afraid?”

”Of course not.” Julia Giannini said proudly, ”You’re my man, why would I be scared? Besides, my man is the most powerful person in the world, I couldn’t be prouder, how could I be scared?”

Looking at her exceedingly rosy face, Lu Li felt interest rising again, ”You can sleep later, I’m going to tire you out once more.”

”Wait! Wait!”

Julia Giannini quickly stopped him.

Lu Li blinked and asked, ”What, you don’t want to?”

”No.” Julia Giannini explained, ”Before you came, I saw some media trying to discredit and defame you, so I wanted to ask if you want me to use my influence to handle those disreputable media?”

Lu Li chuckled, ”Why handle those disreputable media?”

Julia Giannini was stunned, ”They’re slandering and defaming you.”

Lu Li laughed heartily, ”If I were afraid of slandering and defamation, I wouldn’t have caused such a huge sensation in Mexico, much less showcased the power of the mecha battle group in front of the entire world!”

Indeed, Lu Li was not afraid of slander and defamation at all.

No matter how many pots of shit you try to dump on my head, so what?

Anyway, you can’t take me down.

Lu Li’s mindset was that as long as you don’t hurt the people around me, nothing else matters.

Reputation?

What’s the worth of that?

If you’re that capable, try dumping shit.

Who knows, maybe someday I’m in a bad mood and I’ll verify the ”authenticity” of the shit pots you dump.

Simply put, he enjoyed being in the ”you can’t stand it, but you can’t do anything about me” position.
