Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 318: Chapter 276: The World’s Attention

Southern Asian Sea, on an uninhabited island.

Generally speaking, uninhabited islands in the high seas are mostly islands without any value for utilization; they are either far from shipping routes, desolate, or basically lack any resources to exploit. Even deep-sea fishing vessels are unwilling to resupply here. Even if someone discovers it, they wouldn’t think of claiming it as their own. After all, nobody wants to survive alone in a remote, turbulent sea. Getting sick would pose medical issues, not to mention the infamous pirates lurking on the high seas.

However, at this moment, on this not-so-large island, aside from the numerous cruise ships and speedboats surrounding it, crowds of people have gathered densely.

The characteristics of these crowds are almost similar, all equipped with cameras, photo equipment, and recording devices.

At first glance, there are Asians, Caucasians, Africans, and people of other ethnic groups, perhaps two to three thousand people occupying each advantageous filming position.

Yes, all these people are journalists.

Journalists from famous and renowned media from across the globe.

Among them are some top-notch war reporter teams in the industry.

These teams include text journalists, artists, photojournalists, and video journalists, among others.

They write war zone news based on personal experiences and eyewitness accounts, known as battlefield reporting.

War correspondents have two famous sayings.

The first one is: If you can’t stop the war, then tell the world the truth.

The second is: Journalists who exchange their lives for ”truth.”

In short, if necessary, this group of war correspondents is even willing to risk their lives to capture the news!

Currently, the world’s number one war correspondent, Douglas, is personally leading the team here.

Not just Douglas, but quite a few of the world’s top war reporters have arrived.

Such as Huaxia’s Lu Guang, France’s Adrian, Germany’s Felix, Japan’s Ito San Lang, South Korea’s Han Lina, and others.

It can be said that anyone present today, even if not the world’s top war correspondent, is still a leading journalist or team from various media companies.

Once they join hands to report on an event.

It will definitely spread quickly worldwide, letting the whole world know.

So why have so many of the world’s top journalists gathered together?

What else could it be?

Because today that unbeatable Extraordinary Ancestor will conduct an exercise in the high seas area.

Everyone wants to capture firsthand information about the Ancestor.

As for the Fie ugly military exercise not far from here.

There are no journalists focusing on filming it.

At this moment, numerous war correspondent teams are chatting about this matter.

Douglas turned his head and asked, ”What time is it now?”

A blonde female assistant in the team quickly replied, ”It’s nine thirty-two.”

Douglas nodded slightly, ”There are twenty-eight minutes left until the Ancestor is scheduled to appear. Everyone check your equipment and gear to capture effective data at the first opportunity, and John, no matter what happens next, you must depict the scene you see, understood?”

Artist John said, ”Sir, rest assured, I have a photographic memory. As long as I can see the face of the Ancestor, I will definitely be able to draw it.”

Another cameraman checking a camera looked up and said, ”Why do you think the Ancestor chose to conduct the exercise in the high seas?”

Douglas, speechless, looked at him and said, ”Brother, are you foolish? The high seas, being part of international law, its basic principle is all countries equally using it together, not subject to any country’s sovereignty or jurisdiction. Freedom of the seas is a recognized principle of international law, including navigation freedom, construction freedom, fishing freedom, and scientific research freedom. These principles ensure peaceful utilization of the high seas, and no country may appropriate any part of it for itself or exert jurisdiction over the high seas itself.”

He paused and continued, ”Therefore, apart from military activities being strictly limited on the high seas, like prohibiting any country from waging war or military actions there, other activities are permitted, such as exercises. This does not violate international law. The Ancestor choosing to conduct exercises here allows him to showcase what he wants to show everyone without worrying about conflicting with any country.”

The female assistant blinked and said, ”According to what you mean, the Ancestor is quite reasonable?”

John ridiculed, ”You wouldn’t be falling for him, would you? He’s the Ancestor, what kind of women wouldn’t he have?”

The female assistant couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

She indeed thought so deep down.

After all, reverence is ingrained in the human ”gene.”

But such matters can’t be directly admitted.

The female assistant changed topics and said, ”Will the Ancestor really arrive here at ten o’clock sharp? If he doesn’t come, what do we do?”

Douglas replied firmly, ”Since he dared to globally announce the exercise five days ago, he will definitely show up!”

Meanwhile, Lu Guang’s team was discussing similar issues.

Female artist Xiaomin blinked and said, ”Brother Lu, do you think the Ancestor will come?”

Lu Guang affirmed, ”I believe he will definitely come.”

Photographer Old Zhang asked curiously, ”Why are you so sure?”

Lu Guang analyzed, ”He globalized the announcement of the exercise four to five days ago, clearly hoping for global journalists to capture it. His intent is likely to showcase his strength to the world. Why exhibit his power? Simply to intimidate others, or perhaps to gain something; in other words, he had already planned the outcome from the moment he announced it. So, to achieve his final goal, I believe he will definitely come!”

Saying this, Lu Guang glanced at his watch, ”There are twenty-five minutes left until the agreed ten o’clock. Everyone adjusts the equipment and energizes up, don’t miss each important filming moment later.”

Similar to Douglas and Lu Guang’s teams, other journalist teams were discussing similar topics.

Some journalist teams even boarded speedboats, ready to risk their lives to get close for shots the moment the Ancestors appeared.

The public anticipation!

The crowd’s expectations!

Everyone was intently hoping ten o’clock would come sooner.

...

On the other side.

The Satellite Control Center.

Lu Li and Gu Wei had been there for a while.

Just recently, Lu Li had launched fifty mechas, flying towards the Southern Asian Sea.

At this moment, Gu Wei watched as Lu Li operated fifty handles simultaneously, somewhat puzzled, he asked, ”Mr. Lu, haven’t you considered making a central control system? Isn’t it troublesome to control them one by one?”

Continuing to manipulate the handles with energy, Lu Li casually said, ”Oh, actually I have considered it, and indeed, it’s very easy to make, but there are some small issues, so I abandoned it.”

Gu Wei was startled and asked, puzzled, ”What small issues?”

Sitting upright, Lu Li smiled and honestly said, ”With one handle controlling one mecha, even if I lose one of them, I don’t have to worry about someone else seizing control of all the mechas. But once I create a central control system, if someone else takes over the authority, then the control of all fifty mechas falling into other hands could potentially cause a global catastrophe.”

He considers his actions very carefully.

Although currently, only he can recharge the mechas, their destructive power in full state is indeed too immense.

One being seized is barely manageable, at most it could destroy one or two cities.

But fifty are different; they possess the destructive power strong enough to wipe out a small country!

Lu Li definitely doesn’t want the weapon he created to deter the world to fall into the wrong hands and to cause great harm.

Gu Wei pondered, his gaze wandering among the small screens amidst the fifty handles.

He was a bit anxious and asked, ”With so many mechas, which screen should I even focus on?”

Lu Li chuckled and said, ”These mechas are 720-degree omni-directional; you can focus on whichever screen you like, why do you need to watch all of them?”

Gu Wei smiled wryly and said, ”I know they’re 720 degrees, but your screen is too small. Other than the front view being slightly larger, the rest are so tiny they look like mosquitoes, how can I possibly see clearly?”

Indeed, human eyes can’t see such small details normally.

Since Lu Li had a good relationship with Gu Wei, he decided to let him see more clearly.

He found an idle computer and used wireless projection to project the screen from one of the handles onto it.

The next moment, Gu Wei finally saw the detailed view of the mechas.

The fifty mechas in flight all appeared in a ”white light” state, making it impossible to observe their real form normally.

However, there was something interesting; the flight sequence of these mechas seemed peculiar, appearing to spell the English words ”ancestor” and ”man.”

Combine ”ancestor” and ”man” together, and doesn’t that mean ”Ancestors”?

Of course, Gu Wei’s attention was not on the formation of the mechas in flight.

His gaze was somewhat shocked because these mechas were all traveling among the high-altitude clouds at an unbelievable speed.

Judging by his understanding of fighter jet speeds, these mechas might possibly be reaching a terrifying speed of five Mach!

Although this confirmed what Mr. Lu had previously introduced about the mecha’s flight speed, Gu Wei was still deeply shocked.

Gu Wei surreptitiously marveled in his mind, ”Since the mecha’s flight speed is indeed as Mr. Lu stated, reaching five Mach, then the power displayed during the upcoming exercises should also be about what Mr. Lu previously described. It will certainly astonish the world!”

...

On the island in the international waters.

”It’s 9:59.”

”Why haven’t the Ancestors appeared yet?”

”I’ve had my live broadcast equipment on for quite a while. Could they not be coming?”

”Is it possible that the Ancestors are teasing everyone? Leaving everyone in the lurch at the end?”

”No way, right? Are they really going to stand up the whole world?”

”If not, why haven’t they shown up at the appointed time?”

A group of people waited for a long time without seeing signs of the Ancestors, and their patience was waning, expressions tinged with disappointment.

They had hoped fervently, waiting a long time in advance for favorable shooting positions, and if they couldn’t see the Ancestors, they would, of course, feel let down.

However, not everyone was in this state.

For instance, top world-class war journalists like Douglas and Lu Guang seemed to have observed something at this moment.

They looked towards the northeast with uncertainty.

Over there, several beams of light seemed to be speeding in rapidly.

The world’s top war journalists felt a stirring in their hearts, thinking secretly, ”Could it be... The Ancestors are making their move?”
