Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 321: Chapter 278: Mecha Battle Group vs. Frigate Battle Group

In the Southern Asia Public Sea Area.

This area is dotted with numerous uninhabited islands scattered across the vast ocean.

Some small islands could be as large as a couple of rooms.

Some are merely giant rocks standing in the sea, not worthy of being called ”islands” at all.

Only the island where the reporters were located.

And a small island several nautical miles away were relatively larger.

Yet, even these two slightly larger islands cover only about three to four square kilometers each.

Especially the opposite island, which is densely populated with venomous snakes, making it a place ordinary people wouldn’t dare approach.

Therefore, the reporters did not choose that opposite island as their habitat.

Instead, they chose this barren island as their filming base.

Looking up at the sky teeming with forty to fifty imposing mechas, the reporters were full of amazement.

”Oh my God.”

”Are all these mechas real?”

”Unbelievable, that someone on Earth could have manufactured such terrifying mechas with our current technology.”

”Big news, this is going to be big news!”

”These mechas, albeit mighty and with unbelievably fast flying speeds, I’m curious about their combat power, I don’t see any weapons!”

”Whether you can see any weapons or not, aren’t you scared of these five Mach speed single-person flying units? If these things aimed to assassinate someone, even their security team couldn’t react. Most importantly, I think they came flying from some country in Asia, likely passing through the Rabbit country’s airspace without triggering any alarms. This means that these mechas probably have stealth capabilities like stealth fighters. Imagine if they dropped a nuclear bomb, wouldn’t that be terrifying!”

”True.”

”Either way, even if these mechas have no other weapon systems, the possibility of invisibility and five Mach speed is already frightening.”

”I really hope these mechas possess some advanced weapons to broaden our horizons.”

The reporters were filled with awe, while some were attempting to explain the situation to the audience in front of the camera.

...

Unlike the reporters’ amazement.

On another uninhabited island, a large group of true ”warriors” were lurking.

These warriors were disguised as pirates.

Today, they had only one objective.

Which was to execute the boss’s order to successfully capture the Ancestor.

This time, the order was different from the previous ”capture alive” directive given to the Jalisco Group.

The big boss behind the scenes had issued a ruthless mandate: as long as they could capture the Ancestor, it didn’t matter if it was dead or alive, even bringing back a piece of tissue would count as mission accomplished.

Everyone knew just how unimaginably powerful the Ancestor was.

Therefore, to complete this mission, the boss spared no expense, even bringing in two ”Virginia” class nuclear submarines, each costing 1.8 billion US Dollars, and two ”Constellation” class frigates, each costing around 1 billion US Dollars.

Of course, with frigates and nuclear submarines brought in, battle groups were naturally needed.

For example, each of the two frigates was equipped with two Apache helicopters.

Surrounding the area were numerous small missile boats acting as vanguard forces.

Such missile fast boats cost at least 30 to 40 million US Dollars each.

At a glance, there were dozens of small missile boats.

With so many modern weapons, personnel naturally accompanied them.

For instance, each frigate housed one to two hundred armed members.

Each small missile fast boat had thirty to forty people.

Along with the personnel inside the two nuclear submarines.

Altogether, there were probably two to three thousand people.

Apart from the warships and fast boats, over a thousand people were stationed on the island as well.

These three to four thousand people were each armed with individual combat weapons.

Such as high-energy laser guns, shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, various automatic rifles, etc.

Because the frigates and small missile fast boats had stealth capabilities, the reporters hadn’t discovered them.

Even though this setup didn’t resemble pirates at all, these people insisted on the disguise, claiming to be pirates; whether you believe it or not is your problem, and they won’t provide direct evidence anyway.

The man commanding this ”battle” was a sixty-something-year-old Caucasian named Chamos.

He possessed extensive combat experience.

However, his current identity was that of a ruthless ”pirate.”

In the warship, Chamos and the other command personnel were somewhat stunned.

Even though they had vaguely detected the Ancestor’s ”mecha” combat group through high-powered binoculars, the radar, satellite, and other surveillance systems hadn’t detected anything!

”Our radar didn’t detect anything.”

”Not just the radar, even the satellites detected nothing.”

”What... What kind of monster is this? It’s kind of terrifying!”

The command personnel on the frigate’s faces turned grim instantly.

If only radar couldn’t detect it, that wouldn’t be much of a problem.

But not even satellites picking it up is incredibly alarming.

In this situation, if someone attacked you, you’d be metaphorically ”blind.”

In modern warfare, this is without a doubt extremely terrifying.

Even with Chamos’s extensive combat experience, a sense of foreboding emerged in his heart.

Despite feeling uneasy, Chamos knew what needed to be done.

After all, having taken a large sum for risking his life, he had to complete the employer’s task.

Chamos commanded, ”Attention all units, the target has appeared, commence the attack now!”

”Received!”

”Received!”

”Missile boats, move out!”

”Frigates ready!”

”Nuclear submarines in position!”

Orders were transmitted and acknowledged in a short time frame.

In the next moment, these frigates and missile boats deployed.

They grandly advanced towards the ”No-Beef-One” combat group.

Well, Chamos and his team had no idea that the Ancestor wasn’t present in person; otherwise, they might have aborted the mission.

Their goal was to bring the Ancestor back alive or dead.

If they couldn’t see the person, there was no point in carrying out this mission.

Unfortunately, they didn’t know.

So, the moment the mecha battle group appeared, Chamos immediately ordered an attack.

...

Satellite Control Center.

Gu Wei looked puzzled and asked, ”Mr. Lu, where is your exercise target?”

Exercises typically have a target for attack.

Surely fifty mechas can’t just attack each other, right?

Lu Li said calmly, ”Look closely at the screen. Haven’t you noticed something?”

Gu Wei took a closer look and suddenly saw countless red dots appear on the screen in the upper right corner.

...

Somewhere underground.

The mastermind behind the scenes was also watching the screen intently.

Meanwhile, he intermittently received fleet command information through his headphones.

The mastermind smiled grimly, ”Ancestor, I’ve spent nearly a billion US dollars this time; and still can’t capture you?”

For any conglomerate, nearly a billion US dollars is a huge sum.

However, compared to capturing the Ancestor and obtaining the secret of the ”superhumans,” this billion US dollars is nothing.

Yes, in the mind of this mastermind, the Ancestor’s value far exceeds one billion US dollars!

...

Beijing.

The elder and a group of people were also watching the live broadcast footage.

”How should these mecha battle groups conduct the exercise?”

”I don’t know, let’s keep watching.”

”Well, Mr. Lu wouldn’t just let the mechas show themselves; I think he’ll definitely demonstrate some weapon systems later.”

”Could there be ultra-modern weapons on display for us?”

”Of course, these mechas are already ultra-modern, why worry about not seeing more powerful weapons?”

...

Similar scenes are being played out all over the world.

Whether it was Lu Li’s relatives and friends, or others interested in the Ancestor, they were all glued to the live broadcast on the screen.

Almost everyone worldwide wanted to know how the Ancestor’s spectacular mecha battle group would demonstrate the exercise’s content next.

Although countless people were curious, without exception, everyone thought the mechas were too small to possibly carry any weapons.

Therefore, many people had already prepared themselves for ”disappointment,” not expecting to see any weapons at all.

...

Public Sea.

Near an uninhabited island.

The journalists had been full of anticipation.

Suddenly, the sound of high-speed engines went ”da-da-da,” coming closer from afar.

Among the crowd were many war correspondents who immediately recognized that these sounds of high-speed engines were most likely coming from combat speedboats.

Douglas hurriedly directed his team to aim cameras and video equipment at the source of the sound.

Lu Guang and the other reporters reacted almost identically.

In the next moment, a terrifying scene appeared in front of the camera.

Dozens of missile speedboats and two massive destroyers came majestically from afar!

Some people in the journalist teams, using high-powered binoculars, first noticed those missile speedboats and destroyers were loaded with heavily armed ”pirates.”

As they were about to get closer, four Apache helicopters took off from the two destroyers.

When those four Apache helicopters took flight, whether on speedboats or destroyers, the heavily armed soldiers immediately raised their automatic rifles, shoulder-launched rocket launchers, and fired the large guns installed on them!

Da-da-da!

The gun barrels spewed flames!

Woosh! Woosh! Woosh! Woosh!

Countless rocket launchers were fired.

One after another, rockets whistled toward the mecha battle group in the sky.

Seeing this, Douglas and the other war journalists showed expressions of excitement.

They never expected such a combat-capable group of ”pirates” to emerge here.

In an instant, they rushed onto yachts and sped toward the combat area, striving to capture firsthand footage.

Meanwhile, other ordinary ace journalists, not as bold, only filmed from a distance around the island.

Whether heading to the combat zone or staying put, all the reporters had one question in their minds.

Does the Ancestor’s mecha battle group have firepower countermeasures?

Just as this thought arose in everyone’s mind, the fifty mechas seemed to receive some command and scattered all at once.

Almost at the moment of dispersal, the arms of these mechas began to transform, each revealing a pair of six-barreled Gatling-like gun barrels.

Douglas quickly noticed this, and his eyes immediately filled with excitement!

The people in Lu Guang’s team were the same, their faces becoming thrilled!

Almost all the remaining reporters saw the six-barreled Gatling-like weapon systems.

Everyone couldn’t help but exclaim.

To be honest, at first, everyone believed the Ancestor’s mecha battle group didn’t appear capable of carrying weapons.

Now seeing those mecha arms unfolding six-barreled Gatling-like weapons.

They all realized one thing: these mecha battle groups’ weapon systems were hidden.

This meant the six-barreled Gatling weapon system was likely just a part, and there might be even more powerful weapon systems next!

Realizing this, all the journalists excitedly shouted into the camera, telling every viewer watching the live broadcast what was happening and their speculations.

Every journalist was thrilled, eager to immediately witness the mecha battle group’s more ferocious firepower.

Of course, they now wanted not just to know how many more formidable weapons the mecha battle group possessed, but to understand what made these six-barreled Gatlings so unique!
