Eternal Thief

When the young man’s eyes opened, they were like molten gold and profound. A hint of bewilderment surfaced in them before he stared at Ace unblinking.

He was astounded when he saw Ace was also looking at him with equal shock and disbelief.

“You… How did you reach this place?” He questioned coldly yet with a hint of curiosity.

’Could he be?’ Ace met his gaze evenly, hiding his surprise behind a calm façade, “I have the same question for you.”

Damien’s eyes narrowed as he observed Ace with scrutiny. Ace was wearing outer sect disciple robes, but his appearance was extraordinary, and for some reason, he felt a sense of unease from Ace.

’A human who can also comprehend Prosperity Law to such an extent that even the law legacy acknowledged him and sent him to this core level. Doesn’t this mean his comprehension abilities aren’t below mine?

’But there shouldn’t be any other person who can inherit this law legacy because of the secret limitations placed on it. Even the Wealth King won’t be able to pull it off, and she might not even know one can reach this place as long as they meet the requirements of the law legacy.

’I was only able to do it because of the ’order’ and prior knowledge of this place. But then what about him?’

The more Damien thought about it, the more shocked he felt before something suddenly came to his mind as his eyes widened ever so slightly, ’Wait a minute! Didn’t the Wealth King say there is another Heaven Chosen who had appeared prior to me? Could it be him?! He’s the reason my plan fell short!’Ace’s thoughts were also slightly similar, ’This guy might be the second human who appeared out of nowhere, right? Although I had my doubts before, now, it seems he might really be a Heaven Chosen if he could be compared to me…’

Both Damien and Ace were meeting each other face to face for the first time, and because Ace was in the form of his Avatar of Holy Twilight, they couldn’t detect each other’s real identities.

If Ace had been here with his true body and soul, Damien would’ve reacted to him, and the same goes for Ace, because they were natural enemies.

Nonetheless, they were meeting under strange circumstances, especially when they didn’t know each other’s goals. Moreover, Damien has a clear goal, while Ace won’t let him succeed so easily if they were after the same thing.

“Since we are both fellow disciples, we shouldn’t fight. Furthermore, reaching this place means you are also capable of inheriting the law legacy.” Damien suddenly said, pulling an amiable smile, “According to the rules of the cultivation world, I come here first, which means everything here belongs to me. But since we are fellow disciples and also humans, I’ll share the cultivation technique and mystic ability perception with you.”

’How eloquent, and he knew what those items were…’ Ace gave Damien a deep, meaningful look. Before he glanced at the chained treasure, he could feel a vague reasoning behind it, and he knew it was something extraordinary.

“What about that chain item?” Ace questioned without replying to Damien’s offer.

Damien’s expression went cold slightly before he said, “That thing is not something you can have. In fact, that item is the core of the entire Prosperity Sky Division, making it the foundation of the PHW King Sect. Even the founder of the Prosperity Sky couldn’t take it, much less you. So, I suggest you be content with what you have. Greed will get you killed.”

’Who is he, and why did he know all of this?! ’ Ace’s eyes narrowed. “So, does it mean you are qualified to take it?”

Damien snickered, “Of course, I’m the only one who is qualified to take it. After all, that thing has been waiting for its fated person, and I am that fated person. Now, if you agreed to my terms, I don’t want to waste more time. Because the Wealth King will notice soon.”

’Wealth King?’ Ace was startled as the image of the Matriarch surfaced in his mind, and his heart raced.

’It’s now quite clear that even he’s afraid of the Wealth King, and not only that, but he came here with a purpose, and his target is that item. He didn’t want the Wealth King to notice his actions, but I happened to stumble upon this secret.

’With his arrogant attitude, if he wasn’t afraid of the Wealth King, he might not even let me get those two items. Which means, he didn’t want to fight me because it’ll alert the Wealth King or probably the entire sect.’

Ace looked at Damien. Because he suspected him to be a Heaven Chosen, he also didn’t want to wrestle with him because his opponent wasn’t a simple cultivator this time.

But for some reason, Damien made him extremely irritable, and he didn’t like Damien at all. Damien had the same strange feeling.

’In this place we are in our soul form, which means I can’t use my physical body, but so did he. It has come to who spirit cultivation and our law comprehension…Furthermore, I don’t need to be afraid of Wealth King.’

A hint of defiance surfaced in Ace’s eyes as he said impassively, “You have a great grasp of the rules of the cultivation world. But I’m the same. Let me tell you another rule of the cultivation world: no matter how you get to the opportunity first, in the end, it’s all boiled down to strength. Whoever is stronger gets everything!”

’This lowlife…’ Coldness surfaced in Damien’s eyes. He didn’t imagine that this guy would be so stubborn, and since he was so close to achieving his objective, it made him extremely furious.

Moreover, he already considered Ace a nuisance because Ace was put in the same spot as him, a Heaven Chosen, which he couldn’t accept with his sense of superiority. After all, he was the chosen one, and the only enemy he had was the Heaven’s Stealer; no one else was qualified.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” he said with a hint of killing intent, his golden eyes shimmering profoundly.

At this moment, Ace sensed a somewhat familiar sensation from Damien’s aura, confusing him, ’Have we met before? Don’t tell me he registered in my Archive of Thief? No, it’s something else…’

Suddenly, before Ace could respond, Damien’s figure vanished, and the next moment, Ace felt a deadly crisis… Damien had attacked!
