Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1379: Chapter 98: Garbage (Part 2)

Looking at the varied expressions on the faces outside the car window, Fatty smiled slightly.

Reciprocate the kindness. With Hastings backing him and the current accumulation of the bandit army, he already had enough capital to repay the generals who had shown goodwill towards the bandit army!

”Barbara will be here today too,” Helen’s slender waist twisted in Fatty’s arm as she reminded him.

Fatty nodded and turned the document to the page containing Barbara’s information.

Leefer’s sister, Director of the Equipment and Security Center at the Feiyang Ministry of Defense. An extremely dangerous woman.

A woman who could become Margaret’s arch-nemesis and stand toe-to-toe with her was clearly not a simple opponent. Not to mention, just the fact that she managed to secure her position as Director of the Equipment and Security Center right under Hastings’ nose was impressive enough.

Barbara did not rely on her title as Leefer’s sister to sit in this position. In fact, it was a compromise. The direct reason was that ten years ago, this woman masterfully integrated all the forces behind Leefer. Forcing the upper ranks of Feiyang to hand over this position to her during an exchange of interests.

If Leefer is a sharp and cold blade, then his sister Barbara is a black dagger hidden in the night, silent and eerie. She is as beautiful as a fairy, with a noble demeanor. She graduated from Feiyang Dalarpeya University and once stayed on to teach there. She holds doctorates in both philosophy and economics.

If ten years ago she hadn’t left the university’s ivory tower to become the core figure of the Leefer Group, Leefer might still not have the ability to contend with Hastings.

People almost watched as she step by step completed the integration of Leefer’s forces, watched as she funneled more and more resources into the Leefer Legion, creating the present-day Leefer Legion.

The prestige of the Iron Army and the devout faith in Leefer are all Barbara’s masterpieces. She stands right behind Leefer. Like a spider, she slowly weaves a large web in the wind. By the time people discovered this web, it was already morning. No one knew what this legendary Black Widow, who supposedly killed her husband, did in the long, dark night.

”In this development of the Twelfth Generation Mecha, among Feiyang’s researchers, fifteen were sent by her,” said Helen as the flying car stopped, ”These fifteen, are top masters in their respective fields.”

”Masters?” Fatty snorted.

*******************************************************************************

Walking into the lobby of the training center building, Fatty’s first sight was Barbara dressed in a black suit.

If, just hours before in the mall, this woman exuded a cold exotic allure, then at this moment, weaving among the stars of generals, she was a blazing black ice.

In the instant Fatty stepped into the lobby, their eyes met, like lightning and thunder.

”General Tian,” as soon as he saw Fatty, Admiral Chuckna, Feng Zhi, immediately left others beside him to come forward, ”We were just waiting for you. Your bandit army is the main attraction of this trial meeting.”

”Hmph!” As soon as Feng Zhi finished speaking, there came a snort from the side. Several Feiyang scientists glanced at Fatty with disdain and turned away.

Seemingly influenced by these scientists, the other international leaders who were initially prepared to greet Fatty awkwardly halted. Some smiled at Fatty, while others simply turned away.

Everyone knew that these scientists who left with a snort were in Barbara’s pocket. In the development of the Twelfth Generation Mecha, their mecha technology played a crucial role. Offending them means offending the technological power behind the Twelfth Generation Mecha. This is not something any country hoping to acquire the Twelfth Generation Mecha wants to see.

More importantly, given the current delicate situation, no one wanted to easily take a stance. Especially in front of Barbara, perhaps a seemingly normal action would be misinterpreted.

However, with Feng Zhi stepping forward to meet, Admiral Chuckna Bernie Lackliff and Sunx Nanxi, as well as Tatania Admiral Harriet Shuzman, Admiral Puditok Harvin Hest, Silliac Federation Admiral Amin Husseini, all came forward warmly greeting Fatty. Completely ignoring Barbara’s expression.

”General Tian,” the appealing Barbara smiled as she walked to Fatty, extending her hand, ”it’s a pleasure to meet you for the first time.”

”The pleasure is mine,” Fatty said, holding Barbara’s hand and discreetly running his thumb over her palm.

Barbara’s eyes instantly became charming and alluring, she quickly glanced at Fatty, laughing coquettishly as she withdrew her hand, ”I must congratulate General Tian, the bandit army as the first unit equipped with Thunderbolt Mecha is indeed an honor. But......”

”..... the newly developed mecha still has room for improvement in many areas, and even its performance isn’t all that stable. Perhaps being the first unit to equip it isn’t necessarily a good thing. I’m quite curious,” Barbara’s eyes glimmered: ”Which will be the second unit equipped with Thunderbolt? By then, the mecha might have further improvements in all aspects.”

Seeing the two of them with full smiles exchanging greetings, the brows of the national leaders present twitched.

Evidently, these two weren’t preparing any veiled threats. Their conflict was blatantly apparent, like a life-threatening duel, relying on ruthless force to completely suppress each other. Barbara’s words were the first flash of a knife today, so straightforward it left people speechless.

It’s no secret that Feiyang’s major super military enterprises are the core of the Leefer Group. As Director of the Equipment and Security Center, though Barbara’s authority in logistics and equipment is restricted to a third, the weight of her authority, supported by the interest groups behind her, is extremely heavy.

The Fei Alliance’s arms order procurement usually concentrates on a few super enterprises. Especially with cutting-edge products supported by these super enterprises, it’s the same. Even if the blueprints were handed to other mecha manufacturing enterprises, they probably couldn’t complete it. The craftsmanship and technology involved are far out of reach for ordinary enterprises.

Thus, Barbara had both the qualification to issue such threats and temptations.

It’s well-known that those super enterprises now standing in Leefer’s camp have long been dissatisfied with the Military Department’s procurement under Hastings. Nearly half of the Thunderbolt Mecha’s development team came from these enterprises, and whether in technology or manufacturing, they hold the reins, having thousands of ways to make the bandit army suffer.

Thinking of Barbara’s promise, the heart of many leaders beat wildly.

”Indeed. Having operated the Thunderbolt on Canglang Star for so long, the bandit army has the strongest voice,” at the center of countless focused gazes, Fatty, with a sinister smile, nodded slightly and said blandly, ”Speaking of Thunderbolt, not only is its name unappealing, its technology doesn’t even match the Twelfth Generation Mecha’s standards. Barely did it elevate itself from the Eleventh Generation Mecha platform by cobbling together the most cutting-edge technology from various countries.”

With a bang, the entire hall erupted in an uproar.

As if it wasn’t shocking enough, Fatty looked at Barbara, then glanced at the scientists beside her, whose faces had turned sullen, and sneered lightly: ”Especially the mecha’s engine, transmission system, and control system—just trash!”

Watching the livid expressions of the few Feiyang scientists, all the leaders present exchanged glances.

Everyone knew that the key systems Fatty criticized in the mecha design were Feiyang’s prime technologies, the proud creations of these Feiyang scientists.

Many scientists from other countries blatantly admitted that in these aspects, they had to rely on Feiyang’s technology.

Yet, from Fatty’s mouth, these critical technologies had turned into trash!

This Fatty, does he even know what he is talking about?!
