Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1363: Chapter 91: Wind Over the Mansion (Part 2)

”Where are we going now?” Fatty detected something off in Helen’s tone when she mentioned Margaret, and quickly changed the subject.

”Back to the embassy.” Helen rolled her eyes, ”Chuckna has prepared an apartment for you at the First Military Academy, but General Bernadotte wants you to stay at the embassy. He’s arranged a three-story building for you in the embassy district.”

”A three-story building just for me?” Fatty turned pale and clung to Helen’s hand, ”What if there are ghosts at night?”

”I bet you’d love if a female ghost came looking for you,” Helen gritted her teeth, ”But let me warn you, Ann Lei, Meiduo, and I all live there!”

”Four women!” Fatty was overjoyed internally and asked with concern, ”What about Milan?”

”The lab work is intense, Milan’s been in the lab recently,” Helen knew all too well what was on Fatty’s mind, and sternly wished she could wipe away the lewd grin on Fatty’s face with her hand.

”I’ll have to find a chance for five women...” Fatty felt a twinge of disappointment, as if something was clogging his heart.

”Let’s talk business.” Helen withdrew her hand from Fatty’s grasp, took out a folder, and opened it seriously. Originally a Leray journalist, she had been living and studying at the Mars Base for quite some time, becoming completely familiar with everything about the bandit army. Her natural intelligence and competence quickly made her the perfect choice for Fatty’s confidential secretary.

Upon hearing they were talking business, General Tian sat up straight, nodding solemnly, and placed his hand on Helen’s butt.

”Stop fooling around,” Helen forcefully moved General Tian’s hand from her butt. General Tian might not excel in other things, but he’d certainly mastered the art of harassing female secretaries, ”The troops assigned by Marshal Hastings to the bandit army will arrive in five days. The Supreme Command has recognized the independent status of the bandit army, confirming your independent command authority. The bandit army will participate in the battles as part of the Fei Alliance Joint Army. Supplies and logistics will be provided by the Fei Alliance according to the standards of special-level troops.”

Fatty smacked his lips: ”The old man moves pretty fast.”

”The development of the Twelfth Generation Mecha is nearing completion, and the joint development team hopes you can attend the mecha testing meeting tomorrow. They need you to provide the final data, but I must remind you that the scientists in the development team have quirky tempers, and many are unhappy about the Twelfth Generation Mecha being prioritized for the bandit army. Even Boswell and Milan are not well-received in the team now.”

”I’d like to see how they show their displeasure towards me.” Fatty snorted coldly upon hearing that the old man and Milan were not well-received.

After making an agreement with Hastings, in recent days, everything related to the bandit army had caused quite a stir within the Fei Alliance.

As the saying goes, in a large forest, there are all kinds of birds. The bandit army’s thrashing of the 31st Army didn’t scare many people. Conversely, as conflicts became public, certain factions that had nothing to do with the bandit army initially have now openly emerged because of Hastings. Margaret had long warned Fatty that, in the future, many might be awaiting a beating from the bandit army. They just want to make things even bigger.

Besides these people, within the Fei Alliance Joint Army, many are also dissatisfied with the bandit army having priority access to the Twelfth Generation Mecha and holding an independent status equal to the Fei Alliance, enjoying special privileges provided by the Fei Alliance. Jealousy is human nature, and there’s no shortage of people lining up to take a swing at the bandit army.

However, where there are enemies, there are also friends.

The bandit army’s commotion in Hanjing not only ultimately turned into a publicity piece for the bandit army, winning the support of the entire Chuckna, but also intimidated quite a few ally nations. Especially many small countries in the alliance, which originally had close ties with the Leray Federation, have found themselves frequently visiting Bernardo’s office and hospital in recent days.

Due to similar national power and position in the Fei Alliance, these countries not only admire the current bandit army that Leray possesses but also feel a special sense of identification. It is said that when military leaders from these small countries gather, the tale of the bandit army’s thrashing of the 31st Army always comes up in their daily chats, as if they were the ones who defeated the 31st Army themselves.

Fatty is a nouveau riche, naturally protective and vengeful. To the rumors harmful to the bandit army surrounding him, other than excitement, there’s nothing else.

He just fears the world won’t be chaotic enough!

”The Fei Alliance Joint Congress’s upper house has been holding consecutive meetings,” Helen exclaimed angrily, ”Many members have proposed holding Marshal Hastings accountable; they believe the current actions of the United Command harm the fundamental interests of the Fei Alliance. According to reliable information, the congress is poised to pressure the Allied Supreme Command, and if their questions aren’t answered and resolved, they will initiate impeachment.”

The car fell silent all at once.

The political system within the Fei Alliance is a variant of democratic republicanism. The Joint Parliament is equivalent to Congress. Its lower and upper houses are akin to Congress’s House and Senate. But differently, the House and Senate represent state rights and civil rights, while in the Joint Parliament, the lower house represents the rights of member states, and the upper house represents the rights of the peoples of various countries.

The current Supreme Command is the transformation of the former alliance executive council, holding a status equivalent to the president’s cabinet. The parliament has the power to supervise and impeach the Supreme Command.

Fatty had anticipated parliament would take action well in advance.

These high-ranking officials, enjoying peace and prosperity, and relishing in power, would never understand the situation on the war front. To them, there is only politics; political struggle is their life and instinct.
