Chapter 1365: Chapter 92: Embassy

The flying car drove into the embassy, and after saluting the accompanying bandit army mecha pilots, the Chuckna Mecha Team turned and left.

The embassy is an extension and symbol of national sovereignty. Although it is in Chuckna Hanjing, this place belongs to Leray.

The black flying car floated through the solemn and ancient embassy gate. Three hundred years ago, when the Leray Federation became independent, this embassy already existed. Three hundred years later, it still remains as it was originally built.

Next to the gate are two brown stone pillars. On the right of the front, embedded in one of the stone pillars, is a silver-white metal plaque. On the metal plaque is a line of red small characters. Despite the weathering, the words ”Leray Federation” in the center of the plaque are still strikingly prominent.

The flying car slowed down.

”Stop the car!” Fatty patted the car compartment and said loudly.

The driver stopped the car.

The garden in the embassy area was lush with greenery, and following the path around would lead to the white main building of the embassy. However, the flying car evidently couldn’t go any further. On the lawn and garden by the path, hundreds of Chuckna staff were quietly gazing at the flying car with the same eager eyes.

Admiral Bernadotte stood quietly in front of the building furthest from the dispersed crowd.

Fatty got out of the car, instinctively tidying up his attire.

As soon as Fatty appeared, the surrounding crowd erupted in applause. Several of the most excited girls screamed and jumped up, rushing forward to hug Fatty eagerly.

”Welcome home.” The first to embrace Fatty was a girl with a ponytail. Her delicate face was full of excitement, and her eyes were brimming with joy. She giggled and shouted.

She charged forward so quickly that she practically dove headfirst into Fatty’s arms, causing her companion behind her to stomp her feet in frustration.

Amidst the laughter and screams, the ponytail was pulled aside, and other girls quickly filled her spot.

The girls lined up had a natural priority. Some hugged shyly and then bounded away like little deer, some boldly wrapped their arms around Fatty’s neck and kissed him on the cheek, while others hugged Fatty’s waist, pressed their faces against his chest, and giggled, refusing to let go despite being pulled and pinched by their companions.

The sun was bright, and the crowd swayed behind the chirping and chattering girls.

Welcome home. These simple four words flowed like a warm current, coursing through Fatty’s entire body.

Is there anything more blissful than this moment?!

Fatty was helplessly swept along by the surging crowd, embracing every radiant smiling face that approached. The embraces from the men were strong and conveyed a sense of familiarity and a silent firmness as they patted each other’s shoulders. The women’s hugs were gentle and warm, filled with an unspoken warmth.

Helen stood quietly outside the crowd, watching Fatty enveloped by people.

With a silly grin on his face, Fatty appeared somewhat at a loss amid the approaching crowd. Amidst the girls’ shrieks and laughter, he was so clumsy yet so endearing.

He allowed himself to be crowded forward, turning his face obediently to let the bold girls kiss him. Amid the embraces, Helen noticed Fatty was smiling, yet there was a shimmer of tears in his eyes.

A bittersweet joy washed over Helen in that moment.

Among those present were ordinary embassy staff, diplomats, military officers, ambassadors, and many regular Leray citizens who had drifted to Chuckna from the Central Leray Star Domain. Some had lost their homes in the war, others their loved ones. Many had endured unimaginable hardships before reaching Chuckna.

The trauma the war inflicted on them might take a lifetime to heal.

But at least now, they were joyful. In front of the hero who belonged to each one of them, the war seemed to be reduced at this moment to just victories, those times of cheering with raised arms, memories filled with tears of joy.

Fatty was a family member to each of them.

In the embrace of the crowd, Fatty made his way to Bernadotte.

”Chuckna’s side said they planned to place you in the military academy.” Bernadotte stood facing Fatty, as these two generations of Leray soldiers looked at each other.

”I said, how could I not stay at a place belonging to Leray when I reached Hanjing?” After a long while, Bernadotte laughed and stepped forward to give Fatty a solid hug. ”Welcome back!”

Entering a three-story building in the residential area of the main embassy building, Fatty looked around at the quaint structure in amazement. Blue walls, white eaves, bright yellow tiles, and green window frames. The entire building was nestled among the trees, serene and elegant. A wave-shaped wall surrounded an independent courtyard.

”Not too shabby, right?” Bernadotte laughed heartily. ”This is the best room in the embassy, primarily because it’s quiet. It’s quite far from where others live, so there won’t be any disturbances.”

Saying this, Bernadotte glanced at Helen and whispered, ”I figured this was important for you. In case there’s any trouble behind the scenes, at least it won’t ruin your image.”

Fatty rolled his eyes, looking resentfully at Bernadotte who was laughing heartily.

The room was empty. Not only was Ann Lei, who had important work to do, absent, but even Meiduo, who theoretically should have nothing to do, was not there.

Smelling the faint fragrance in the room and the aroma of the stew wafting from the kitchen, a slight smile appeared on Fatty’s lips. Clearly, all this was Meiduo’s doing.

The backyard fire Bernadotte mentioned didn’t worry Fatty. This daisy-like little nurse was always serene and detailed. Always standing in a reachable, yet completely unobtrusive place, silently caring for him. How could such a woman have disputes and conflicts with others?

In Meiduo’s dictionary, these two words probably don’t even exist.

Thinking back a few years ago, when he drove the modified mecha, taking her and Nia, hiding and sneaking all the way to Gallipalan, it seemed just like yesterday.

He caught fish, she gutted and scaled them, and when it was time to sleep, she drove away the mosquitos and flies nearby.

Later, when she was transferred to the capital and separated from him, she still called every day, earnestly urging and arranging his life.

And then she even ventured alone to Mars in search of him. If not for good fortune, perhaps this silly little nurse would have been sold off.

In terms of appearance, Meiduo wasn’t the prettiest among his women. However, her calm tranquility and gentle meticulousness were what any man would dream of. In times of peace, this fair-skinned, slightly shy girl who quietly devoted herself to her man would evoke more desire to bring home than those big stars.

Fatty enthusiastically looked around every room, his heart feeling fiery.

Though temporary, this place had the taste of home.

Finally sitting on the study’s sofa, Helen made two cups of coffee, placed them in front of Fatty and Bernadotte, and gently closed the door.

Bernadotte took a sip of coffee, put down the cup, and looked up at Fatty, ”Did you see the information I asked Helen to give you?”

Fatty silently nodded.

In the hospital bed, he read the materials Helen gave him. The information was an explanation of the current situation in the Atlantis Star Domain, the only remaining region of the Leray Federation.

With the Resk Battle on the verge of intensification, the Western Alliance simultaneously increased its attacks on the Central Leray Star Domain. If there was Russell’s restraint from behind, Flavio’s desperate resistance, and Fiscella taking advantage, Atlantis Star Domain still held the jump point, then now, Atlantis could be breached at any moment.

The reason was simple. During the time Fatty was lying in the hospital bed, Fiscella had openly sided with Leefer’s camp and stopped operations against the Central Leray Star Domain. The public conflict between Leefer and Hastings and Hastings’ declaration of the bandit army’s alliance status, as well as the announcement of the Twelfth Generation Mecha’s deployment plan, made Fiscella realize it was time to choose a side.

With his relationship with Leefer, there could be no other outcome.

A few days ago, Fiscella announced that for strategic reasons, the First Army Group and Second Army Group of the Southeast United Expeditionary Army he led would retreat to Gazalin. Moreover, out of concern for the current Karsdon Star River battle situation, there’s a possibility of a full withdrawal of the Southeast Expeditionary Army from the Southeast Star Domain combat zone, with the entire army returning home to fight.

This was a stab in the back!

This stab hit the right spot, and at the right time. Some citizens and politicians of the Feiyang Republic even cheered loudly for Fiscella putting Feiyang’s interests above all else.

After Brody’s coup and his siding with the Western Alliance, Leray’s secret jump point in the Galileo Star System was no longer secret. Now the Newton Star System and the Galileo Star System face combined attacks from the east by the Desic 5th Group Fleet, the Jiepeng Yingri Super Fleet, and numerous Suss Fleets. Simultaneously, there’s also an attack from the west by the Desic Empire.

If at this time, the Binart Empire and Naga Federation were to strike, the Atlantis Star Domain would have no hope of survival. Even if Russell gave it his all, he could delay it temporarily, but not forever.

The only way to relieve Flavio is to quickly end the Resk Battle, thoroughly crushing the main forces of Jiepeng and Suss led by Mikami Yuto, pushing these two countries to their limits, leaving them with no strength to struggle!

”The Atlantis Star Domain can’t hold on much longer,” Bernadotte sighed deeply, ”If the Resk Battle can’t end soon, we might lose yet another president.”

Fatty remained silent, merely looking quietly at the ceiling of the study.

The simple design of the crystal chandelier emitted a soft glow.

In a daze.

Hamilton’s and Flavio’s faces overlapped in the light from the crystal chandelier.
