Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1356: Chapter 86: The Myth Shattered (End) (3)

At the moment of life and death, a group of soldiers in blue uniforms, led by several Chuckna soldiers, rushed onto the battlefield. Leading the charge was a Fatty wielding a bizarre handgun.

Leray Lieutenant General, Tian Xingjian.

The Jiepeng people retreated like a tide. The battlefield was held, but the hearts of the audience were lifted with the last image in the camera.

This image came from the battlefield recorder of a soldier on the frontlines.

Looking down from the position, it was all densely packed with Jiepeng soldiers, and on the battlefield, including the newly arrived bandit soldiers, there were no more than seventy people.

Outside the frame, Felix’s commentary sounded: ”Everyone must have seen it. In fact, this hill numbered 347 was our last position along the Karachi Riverfront line at the time. They were like buoys trailing behind a fishing boat, lonely and besieged by Frenzied Shark. Hours later, they annihilated the Jiepeng Infantry Battalion below the hill and began, from this highland, the path to victory following General Tian Xingjian.”

Artillery, smoke, combat.

A cobbled-together Mecha, a chubby figure continually attacking from the trench. When the frenzied charging Jiepeng soldiers broke and retreated in front of the advancing Chuckna warriors, a surge of blood instantly filled all of the audience’s chests.

Then, the screen rapidly turned into a forest.

The forest sparkled like water, leaves reflected a faint cold glow. The warriors stood among the trees, and the General Tian Xingjian from Leray stood before them.

The audience listened quietly to the Fatty’s loud voice: ”My purpose here is simple! The command requested me to come to Canglang Star! Honestly, I originally didn’t want to bother with them. In such circumstances, what else is it but a death mission? However, when I heard Marshal Li Cunxin was here, I had no choice! Thus, I came!”

”Now, what we need to do is attack a Jiepeng Armored Camp five kilometers away!” He pointed toward the northwest of the mountain depression: ”Cross over this hill, and we’ll be able to see their camp! Perhaps some may think this is invoking disaster by confronting strength! Yet... I’ll tell you, I’m not that foolish!”

He suddenly waved his hand: ”Cosmo, tell them your hand speed.”

”Sixty-two actions per second!”

”Hagrove.”

”Seventy-one actions per second!”

”Wagstaff.”

”Seventy actions per second.”

”Meng Xun.”

”Seventy-three actions per second!”

”Baz.”

”Infantry.”

As each bandit soldier stepped out of the line, it seemed like something exploded in the hearts of the audience.

In the valley, their familiar hero Colonel Anthony stopped Leray’s General Tian just before the bandit mecha pilots were about to launch.

”General...”

”Any questions?” The Fatty’s face was clear before the lens.

Anthony saluted: ”Good luck!”

Behind him, over two hundred Chuckna soldiers simultaneously raised their hands in salute.

The public could no longer suppress the surging heat in their hearts as they stared intently at the screen, watching the squad march into the valley, watching them launch a fearless assault on the Jiepeng Armored Camp with a few Mecha.

As the intense explosions erupted on the mountainside, when in the valley the bandit soldiers maneuvered their mechas with maddening skill, unstoppable and invincible, everyone clenched their fists, grinding their teeth.

War God, they finally witnessed firsthand the legendary Mechanical God!

The screams of the Jiepeng soldiers were endless, as Jiepeng Mechas turned into fireballs under the crushing attack from the bandit forces.

”This is the first battle after General Tian led our troops out of the 347 position.” Felix’s commentary was succinct to the extreme: ”Let’s continue watching.”

The screen changed, scene after scene flickering before everyone like a carousel.

The team that swapped their muskets for cannons rushed attacking the first Armored Camp. Immediately followed by the second Armored Camp, then the unit crossed the mountains, rescued prisoners of war, led them back to highland 415, subsequently the defense of 415 highland, the breakout battle at the last moment in Hot Spring Town, the penetration with the enemy into Flyns Agricultural District, two annihilation battles, the Fight-to-the-Death Battalion’s deadly struggle in the valley...

At the end, when Fatty’s panicked face upon surrender appeared in the freeze-frame, every audience member fell silent.

People quietly gazed at that face with complex emotions.

No matter how they tried, they could not believe that someone like that would surrender.

”I know many people’s impression of General Tian is from the final battle’s last moments on Canglang Star. I also know, now like me, you don’t believe your eyes and are eager to discover the truth.” Felix appeared on camera, stretching out a hand, ”So, let us use all our anticipation, use our hearts, to see the final image.”

The image is frozen, countless military hats flying in the air, numerous Chuckna officers ecstatically captured mid-air, embracing, crying, clapping, celebrating unrestrainedly.

And on the gigantic virtual screen before them, two bashful smiling faces.

Behind the smiles is the chaotic Command Mecha, Jiepeng soldiers lying askew on the ground, the division commander of the Second Armored Division tied up.

”Earlier, Marshal Li Cunxin asked who dares to run wild on this land.” Felix’s voice sounded off-screen: ”Now, I want to invite you, to tell me the answer.”

Outside the Army General Hospital, silence reigned.

People stood dazed, hearing a massive wave of sound suddenly gathering from all directions, like rolling thunder, resounding over Chuckna skies.

”Bandit army!”

”Bandit army!”
