Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1364: Chapter 91: Winds Fill the Tower (Part 3)

Originally, within the Fei Alliance, Hastings’ prestige was so high that people had to look up to him, and the public almost unconditionally worshiped Hastings.

However, as the war progressed to this point, when Leefer finally stepped into the spotlight, the criticism against Hastings had grown louder and louder. Especially within the Feiyang Republic, joining the war too early made the public highly question Hastings’ decision. Many believed that Hastings had sold out the interests of the Feiyang Republic.

If, at the onset of the war, the United Parliament had no voice whatsoever, now, with Leefer becoming a new idol for the public to rival Hastings and Hastings abruptly issuing an almost nonsensical favoritism order for the bandit army, they had an opportunity to seize some speaking power.

The senators who represented the ”people” in the upper house would instinctively promote and utilize public opinion. They had already set up a target, and as long as this target was taken down, power would be in their hands.

This target was the bandit army!

An army mostly composed of criminals from the Mars Free World, with a Fatty who had once publicly surrendered, an incredible independent command, and a malicious attack against the Allies... what could be a better subject?

Deceit and instigation are the politicians’ forte. With these topics, a thousand lies could be derived.

Public opinion is always easily swayed and guided, and the bandit army’s innate unfamiliarity and lack of acceptance are enough to let lies about the bandit army run rampant. Even Chuckna still had people believing that the bandit army was a monster created by Hastings and the top tiers of the Allied Command Center, aiming to satisfy the private desires of the Hastings family. Not to mention the public of other countries.

One could imagine, once the United Parliament seized Hastings’ pain point and pursued the identity of the bandit army relentlessly, what kind of turmoil would sweep through the Fei Alliance.

And once the Command Department succumbed to the United Parliament, or even if the Command Department was re-elected, then under the jurisdiction of the Command Department, to whom would the United Command belong?

It should be known that within the so-called independent senators in the upper house, who are controlled by money and power, Leefer and the huge interest group behind him evidently had much greater control.

”Impeachment?” Fatty folded his arms, resting them behind his head, and sneered coldly, ”This bunch of bastards love to use this trick the most. But they don’t understand that this is no longer a democratic era. I have guns, cannons, and men. If they piss me off, I’ll shove all their public opinions right up their asses!”

”Manipulating public opinion also depends on whose strength is greater,” Fatty chuckled to himself, looking out the window: ”On our side, we have plenty of experts in manipulating public opinion. Just wait and see!”

Helen suddenly felt a chill.

Perhaps future generations will understand that the cooperation between Hastings and Fatty will be a critical milestone in battlefield warfare. However, now, this newly formed union must first carve out a path through the mountains of swords and seas of flames. In this enclosed carriage, the future that has already unfolded shows a ferocious face.

The mountain rain is coming, and the wind fills the building.
