Counterfeit Hero

However, at this moment, obviously no one would blame him.

Kirburn didn’t speak, he just raised the document in his hand and smiled with self-satisfaction.

Kubo also laughed, a fiery gleam flashed in his eyes: ”I really wish General Fiscella could come and watch the battle! If he did, I’d let the Tai Sect’s mech knights show off a bit.”

”Although General Fiscella can’t come....” Cheng Zhixuan, having received a satisfactory answer, leaned back on his chair, relaxed, and said, ”However, Major General Carolina will be there to watch the battle. When the martial arts tournament concludes, it will mark the official establishment of the Mars Front Army!”

At Mars’ 6th Space Port, a crab-shaped escort ship belonging to the Green Flag Fleet of the Longxing Association was utilizing its six strip-shaped thrusters, resembling crab legs, along its wide and flat body, slowly moving along the port pier, preparing to connect with the mechanical arm.

A short and stout crewman pressed his face against the porthole, gazing at the fleet of battleships and transport ships bearing the bandit army insignia—coming in a continuous stream at the port—with a tsk tsk sound: ”This bunch of bandits has really struck it rich this time. They’ve hauled several hundred shiploads of goods by now, and they’re still not done.”

”Done hauling?” Beside the short crewman, a serviceman puffed at a cigarette held in the ashtray of the smoking area and sneered: ”How big is Mars? Not to mention those trade and adventure groups that fled, just the Northern Alliance alone—Selwal bought neutral rights back then. So many refugees flooded into Mars, and just from that, they made a huge fortune. After so many years of keeping low, the Northern Alliance’s mercenary armies and commerce groups have a lot of resources. Furthermore, there’s the military supplies sent by the Suss Empire!”

”We really should have!” The short crewman also lit a cigarette, his eyes still fixed on the porthole: ”If we’d deployed forces a bit earlier, we could’ve claimed at least a third or a fourth of those resources—the thought pains me. So many years of accumulation on this planet, what a massive fortune!”

”Just surviving is good enough!” The serviceman said: ”They exchanged their lives to achieve that!”

After extinguishing his cigarette, the serviceman continued: ”As long as Mars Planet exists, why worry about recovery? Look...” He moved closer to the short crewman, pressed his eyes against another porthole: ”Over there...look at those transport ships and merchant vessels, they’re all coming from various space stations of different star domains. Mars is in dire need of materials, how could they not seize the opportunity to make a hefty profit?”

”Right.....” The short crewman said: ”Back then, I thought after the battle, there wouldn’t be many Mars people left. Ha! Who knew upon landing the last time, there were people everywhere; no idea where they all hid back then. The ruins of the streets have been cleaned up; those with money and means are building modular homes. The Space City is operational again, and many who’ve escaped are moving back in. Truly, human resilience is remarkable. However fierce the battle, there are always survivors who emerge afterward and life goes on.”

”That’s true, I heard many people survived by eating big-eared rats.” The serviceman sighed wistfully: ”Just uncertain how long this peace will last. If fighting breaks out again, at least people have experience, and there will be fewer deaths.”

Silence fell, with the two staring out the window lost in their thoughts.

The Sea Elephant class armed merchant ship slowly retreated from the U-shaped pier under the gentle push of the traction arm, with a soft sound separating the connection between the ship’s circular suction cup and the traction arm.

The spaceship gracefully pivoted in the void, turning, as the engine’s sound grew louder, adjusting the angle of its bow while gliding towards the port’s exit.

Outside the window, a crab-shaped escort ship from the Longxing Association, which had just docked with the traction arm, quickly fell behind.

Fatty withdrew his gaze, lifted the coffee on the table, turning to glance at Helen on the opposite side of the cabin. When he decided to return to Base No.1, Helen packed her luggage without a word and naturally followed, surprising Fatty. I’m going to chat with a nurse uniform beauty, why are you tagging along?

In the cabin’s soft lighting, Helen rested her chin on her hand, gazing out the window, lost in thought.

She’s a typical Keloran, a blend of Caucasian and Asian genes like most Kelorans nowadays. Her features are neither the sculpture-like beauty of Caucasians nor the porcelain-like beauty of Asians, but somewhere in between, with distinct yet harmonious lines akin to a gemstone carving.

Her eyes, large and slightly recessed, her golden hair, and her lips are her most charming attributes. Her upper lip sports subtle, rounded curves at each corner, giving her a perpetually playful smile.

Helen isn’t tall, but her proportions appear more harmonious than taller girls. Whether her proud bust or slender waist, rounded hips, all are just right, providing a sense of perfection. Her torso and leg proportions follow the golden ratio—a stunning sight. No matter what part of her body you look at, men will always tell themselves, this is precisely what they want.

Recalling Helen’s bathing figure, Fatty clamped his legs together, swallowing secretly. He desired her but feared death even more.

Ann Lei, Milan, and Bonnie’s mutual acceptance already brought him unexpected joy. His life’s future goal involved one queen and three consorts, rather than being relentlessly chased by Milan brandishing a Mauser pistol. For life and well-being, however overwhelming the temptation, he only dared to watch from the sidelines.

But how long must he wait? Fatty’s heart was filled with deep lament.

From the message Bernadotte sent, Ann Lei went to Chuckna, Milan joined the second batch of researchers to Chuckna, and Bonnie should be in Gazalin now, leading an elite Armored Division as Gazalin’s new government forms. Soon she’ll leave Gazalin, but seems headed for Chuckna as well.

Chuckna is where dreams take flight!

Fatty clenched his fists, sat upright, dismissively waved off the service crew’s offer to refill coffee; once the crew turned away, his eyes couldn’t resist drifting toward Helen’s chest again.

”Eh? Why are you staring at me? Do you think your eyes are big?”

”Don’t come closer, I’m telling you, gentlemen speak rather than touch. I only looked; at worst, I’ll let you look in return!”

”What are you doing.....”

His arm brushing against a soft fragrant warmth struck Fatty like a bolt of lightning.

Helen wrapped herself around Fatty, pressing her flushed face against his arm, sighing deeply.

She didn’t want to struggle anymore; in this chaotic world, beside this obnoxious man, she just wanted to bravely surrender.

The armed merchant ship soon reached the edge of the Mars Free Star System, and as they approached the Jump Point to the Public Star System, the Bandit Army Second Fleet led by Barbarossa had been waiting.

They were here for escort.

The armed merchant ship smoothly sailed between the two rows of battleships, out the window, one signal light after another lit up in sequence.

That’s the knightly salute of the Space Warriors, a tribute between soldiers to heroes, followers to knights.

”I want to marry you.” Helen softly murmured, ”When you shielded me from the rocket, I knew I’d fallen for you. It wasn’t gratitude, merely my liking for you.”

”But, do you like me?” Watching the signal lights out the window, Helen gently kissed Fatty’s face: ”My hero.”

”.....I was wrong!” Fatty replied, dazed.
