Counterfeit Hero

The original unit where Fatty was located now consists of two Fierce Tiger Special Groups, the original Sixteenth Division Special Reconnaissance Group, and a Mechanical Armor Group dispatched by Gazalin’s Freedom Front. Aside from one of the Fierce Tiger Special Groups, the other three groups had followed Fatty in battles across multiple fronts. Whether in symbolic significance or combat strength, they hold an absolute leadership position among these Armored Divisions.

All the mechas of the eight Armored Divisions have been refitted into the [Hunter] Series Three. This is manufactured in accordance to the [Divine] technology Fatty brought back and Leray’s own developed mecha technology. The combat strength even surpasses [Divine], nearly reaching the Eleventh Generation Mecha level.

These are Leray’s last hope.

Russell closed his eyes and gently rubbed the corners of his eyes.

Since the night of the coup, everything feels like a chaotic dream.

That night, he escaped by luck, immediately boarded a Heavy Assault Ship, and traveled here via a small Jump Point in the Free Star System. During these days, he has racked his brain, taking advantage of Brody’s momentary inability to control the entire regime, rescuing many Leray generals, politicians, and scientists. This includes the little kid and Fatty’s relatives.

By this moment, he is already exhausted, yet there is one crucial task left uncompleted. That is to lead this unit across the Saleria Longbow Star System to Mars! The burden of expectation from Hamilton, Mihailovich, and other generals at the Command Department who are imprisoned or have already sacrificed is so heavy that it leaves him breathless. No matter what, he must deliver this unit and independent command rights into Fatty’s hands!

This is the hope of Leray and also Gazalin’s hope!

”General...” Adjutant Hamid rushed in: ”There’s news!”

Russell suddenly turned around. Though Hamid has followed him for years, it’s the first time he has been so hurried and flustered.

Sending out a reconnaissance ship once a day to collect information from the interstellar information relay station near the Space Jump Point and the civilian ship route, the Hidden Blade forces have persevered for a long time. The purpose is just one thing, to know Fatty’s current situation and find a way to contact him!

However, the awaited times again and again have only brought disappointment. To the officers and soldiers of this unit, silently hiding in this desolate space region every day, watching the unchanging starry sky outside the portholes and staring at the ceiling of the narrow living quarters, nothing could be more torturing than this long wait!

Finally, the waiting today has brought results!

”He’s still in Mars!” Hamid shouted, red-faced with excitement, ”God, he’s taken over all of Mars!”

The outer wall of the First Aviation Port in Central City has been surrounded by a two-meter-thick high-strength concrete bulletproof wall, forming a gigantic pear shape. Every hundred meters, there is a firepower tower prepared for installation of large-caliber Energy Cannon and energy shield connection generators. Several buildings inside the airport have already been converted into command and control centers. The Staff Department, Intelligence Department, Logistics Department, and other departments’ instrument equipment and the base’s regional SkyNet have also completed installation.

Near the wall, rows of barracks have taken shape, and engineers from Longxing Association are driving Engineering Mecha to carry out the final roofing operations.

Cheng Zhixuan stood quietly by the window, looking at this vast and empty base. Suddenly, he felt dizzy and his stifled chest as if about to burst open, his whole body trembling involuntarily.

He never dreamed that the damn Fatty would empty out the whole Puluo Town!

Not only did all the supplies and factions along with their Mech Knights disappear without a trace, but what’s even more infuriating is that Fatty posted announcements on the outside of those empty houses or published them on deserted street electronic bulletin boards, with a scribbled three-character signature and a smeared black blot, extremely mocking.

Cheng Zhixuan vividly remembered sitting in the flying car, hearing the discussions of residents under the bulletin boards on the roadside of Central City and Puluo Town.

”I’m saying, even the Feiyang Republic lacks foresight. When the Human Supreme Council pressured our Free World, Feiyang’s parliamentarians lacked a human touch. Now they come to pick fruits, but back when Mars was rotten, why didn’t they show themselves!”

”Exactly, what rubbish.”

”This is called biting the hand that feeds you! Fiscella is a Great General, you see that guy called Cheng Zhixuan, must be him encouraging this white-eyed wolf. This guy, used to belong to Longxing Association, he has been eyeing the factions for a long time. Seeing the bandit army’s power, now he is envious, issuing such an announcement as if no one can recognize its hidden intentions!”

”People have left, and this guy is still throwing flirtatious glances, must be crazy?”

”Heard he’s very sick.”

”Then I wish him no recovery, early death and reincarnation.”

”Nicely put. If it weren’t for Colonel Tian.... Oh, now it’s General Tian. If it weren’t for him back then, Puluo Town would have been finished!”

”Colonel Tian couldn’t care less to play with him, if he wanted to eliminate him, it would happen in minutes!”

”This guy is probably seething with rage now. Exhausting his mind to come up with a few things, yet it has all become nothing.”

”......”

These voices kept echoing in Cheng Zhixuan’s ears, driving him insane.

The trick Fatty pulled off caused the plan by him and Fiscella to completely fall through. It’s a humiliation. A plan that seemed nearly perfect in his eyes was effortlessly nullified by someone pulling the rug from under, and the announcements issued became a joke among the bragging civilians. This feeling is as if being slapped loudly in the face in public!
