Counterfeit Hero

”The rules of the Free World are simple, yet deeply ingrained.” Fatty frowned, speaking seriously, ”According to our original plan, we might be able to develop some influence through Phantom Stream. But, Phantom Stream is too weak. They don’t have enough power to shake the entire structure of the Free World. And if Tai Sect from the outside unites as one, everything we’ve done will be twice the effort for half the result.”

”So, you sought out Tai Sect?” Barbarossa, who had been silent until now, couldn’t hide his surprise, ”That’s a den of wolves!”

”The entire Free World is nothing less than a den of wolves.” Fatty turned the communicator in his hand, saying, ”Most importantly, I’ve discovered that the wolves in this den aren’t always united. Instead of propping up Phantom Stream to stand against Tai Sect, I might as well enter Tai Sect and start from the inside.”

”How did you get in?” Barbarossa looked incredulous, ”Honestly, when I heard you became the Eleventh Elder of Tai Sect and also the Director of the Puluo Branch, I couldn’t believe my ears. The position of an elder in Tai Sect is not something one can get casually.”

”Simple.” Fatty laughed, ”It just happened that Kubo was showing off in Phantom Stream. I beat him up and threatened to take nude photos of him. It scared him stiff.”

”Nude photos?” Barbarossa looked at Fatty as if seeing a demon with horns.

He couldn’t imagine what was going through Kubo’s mind when such a prestigious figure in Free Port was forced to take nude photos. Although Fatty said it lightly, Barbarossa had long understood that this guy is absolutely relentless when he has the upper hand. He has a thousand ways to drive you crazy in an instant.

Kubo falling into his hands was really eight generations of bad luck.

.......really was... Barbarossa smiled bitterly, the word ”really” carried so much bitterness and tears.

”This is a very strange place.” Fatty said to Chekov, ”In this world, the law of the jungle is the basic survival rule. But behind this rule, the various rules of the sects are more binding than laws! If these rules are not broken, this world will still be controlled by those sects...”

”We don’t have much time.” Fatty sighed, continuing, ”No matter what, I have to give it a try. I need the chaos in this world to come earlier. Only in their mutual slaughter can we have a chance to grow before the Western Alliance Countries intervene. And here, the only alternative rebellious sect that we can use is Tai Sect.”

”So...” Fatty quietly lit a cigarette and took a deep drag, ”I want to make Tai Sect the public enemy of all.”

”And then?” Chekov asked, deeply absorbed.

”Then turn the air currents stirred by the butterfly’s wings into a storm that sweeps across Mars Free Port.” The cigarette in Fatty’s hand spun flexibly between his fingers, ”When these sects find that their conflicts can no longer be resolved through traditional rules, they will spare no cost, using all available means to kill each other. By then, small sects will inevitably become sacrificial lambs. And we will appear at the right time, becoming their Savior.”

”Will Kubo give you that much time?” Barbarossa asked worriedly, ”I know this man very well. Cruel, decisive, and ruthless. When necessary, he will do anything. If it really touches his bottom line, making him get rid of this current wavering mentality, I’m afraid...”

”Sing whichever song suits the mountain.” Fatty smiled, ”This is a dangerous game. A slight mistake and we’ll be dead without a burial place. I understand this better than you do. But from a psychological standpoint, people’s psychological changes follow a certain process. Without external pressure, many people will always think about maximizing their benefits.”

”For example...” Fatty raised the cigarette in his hand, ”I have a box of cigarettes. Because there is no market demand, I’ve been holding onto it for a long time, eager to get rid of it. Finally, someone took a fancy to the cigarettes and offered me a price, making me lose a little.”

”At this moment, a psychological struggle will appear. I will try to get more benefits.” Fatty laughed, ”If I miss this opportunity due to hesitation, and later the cigarettes never sell, I will regret it. And after regretting, if another person comes, offering a price lower than the first person, by then my psychological bottom line has been lowered. I will negotiate with the second person based on this lower price standard, still trying to maximize my benefits.”

”So, I won’t think that just because I have a hold over Kubo I can act wantonly.” Being a master of psychology himself, Fatty smiled like a fat fox, ”In the previous situation, he would care if the compromise with Phantom Stream was exposed. That already exposed his bottom line. A truly strong leader controlling Tai Sect wouldn’t be so indecisive. What he fears is other forces within Tai Sect jumping out to seize power at this critical moment. That’s my first offer. Of course, then, I will hold him tightly, continuously lowering his psychological expectations, but not pushing him to the desperate end.”

Chekov and Barbarossa exchanged a glance. From Fatty’s simple and clear explanation, it was evident that this guy had mastered the grasp of psychological changes to an exceptional extent. These things were beyond their imagination. Only Fatty could think and execute such a thorough utilization of someone’s psychological change process.
