Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 486: Volume 5, Chapter 78: The Battle Ends

It’s no wonder the group of staff had unclear stances, seemingly ready to lament for the enemy. They simply couldn’t imagine that such an utterly wicked existence as Fatty could exist in this world.

You killed their supreme commander and got a chance to escape, wasn’t that enough for you? That poor noble old man was merely trying to maintain temporary stability in the troops and said a few words, yet you stomped him to death in front of thousands of soldiers. What kind of logic is this? Are you even human?

These combat officers, as soldiers of a superpower acting as arbitrators and executors in numerous regional conflicts in human society, don’t shy away from launching military actions unrelated to justice for reasons like maintaining peace, eliminating threats, or just a matter of personal displeasure, and with overwhelming force, they annihilate any enemy they deem necessary!

They originally thought they were quite arrogant and unreasonable.

However, compared to this utterly unreasonable Fatty, all Feiyang soldiers became gentlemen of grace and modesty!

No matter how fearless and unreasonable a Feiyang warrior was, upon completing a mission they could withdraw completely, they wouldn’t dare challenge the nerves of thousands of soldiers in such a crazy manner on someone else’s turf!

Stomping a person to a pulp with a Mecha, this damned Fatty! How did he even think of it?

As the saying goes, don’t hit a person in the face, but this dead Fatty not only hit their face, he even spat on it afterwards!...

”No wonder he’s being chased so relentlessly!”

”If it were me, I’d chase him too! Such a vendetta, simply irreconcilable!”

”Tsk tsk, it’s so brutal, you can’t even tell one part from another!”

”This Fatty is way too inhuman!”

”Don’t block me, it’s getting exciting!”

”I think, maybe, this Fatty didn’t do it on purpose.”

In the command room, the staff kept their eyes glued to the virtual screen, casually chatting with mixed feelings. Only their glowing eyes, heavy breathing, and tightly clenched fists revealed the shock and excitement they felt at this moment.

”Have you seen enough?” A voice flatly spoke. It was Douglas’s voice.

The staff exchanged glances and awkwardly closed their mouths.

Douglas quietly surveyed the surroundings. How could he not understand that these Feiyang elites in front of him had, since the first SkyNet footage, already idolized Fatty!

As military advisors of the command department, nobody understood better than them, who had witnessed the entire campaign, what kind of role this Leray Major General played in this battle!

Conquering against the odds, defeating Reinhardt. Traveling solo for thousands of miles, sniping Stephen. Which one of these was not a miracle that invoked admiration and excitement?

The chubby and fair Leray division commander had already earned the respect of all Feiyang soldiers with his actions! If it weren’t for his solo adventure, the six armored divisions of Feiyang would have lost all honor on this planet! The staff, only due to their professional etiquette, tried their best to suppress the excitement in their hearts, using some offhand comments to vent their emotions.

”I know you admire him,” Douglas’s voice was exceptionally clear in the silent command room: ”Honestly... I admire him too!”

The staff’s eyes brightened. They couldn’t have imagined that this young and arrogant general, who once had a very unpleasant row with that Leray Fatty division commander, would so simply put down his pride. Their postures suddenly became straight.

”I am a Feiyang soldier!” Douglas’s voice was calm, full of a soldier’s composure: ”The honor of a soldier does not allow me to deny General Tian’s achievements! He is the hero of these six divisions! What he did, I couldn’t do!”

The staff’s eyes shone even brighter. Douglas’s honesty made them feel proud.

”It’s time for Feiyang soldiers to do something.” Douglas gazed at the virtual screen on the central information stage: ”Don’t let others do all the work!”

All the staff jumped up and dashed to their respective positions. As Feiyang soldiers, they would never stand by and watch such a hero die in front of them. Otherwise, these soldiers of the Feiyang Republic would never be able to hold their heads high for a lifetime.

The second segment of the SkyNet footage was transmitted to all the Mecha warriors of the Expeditionary Army.

”The enemy 39th Division is 55 kilometers from Jiacuo! Bearing 1723...2312!”

”Who is closest?” A combat staff member impatiently called out.

As soon as the words were spoken, a staff member in front of the central information platform had already pulled up a real-time distribution map, loudly reporting: ”Second Armored Division, 1st Group and 3rd Group.”

All eyes focused on Douglas.

”Attack with full force, tell the Second Armored Division to not worry about the rest!” Douglas ordered with determination: ”Directly defeat the enemy’s 39th Division! At all costs, bring the hero home!”

Reinhardt stepped onto the automatic gangway of the giant transport ship.

The gangway rose silently.

Christina stood quietly beside Reinhardt, looking tenderly at his haggard face. Her beautiful face showed a mix of admiration and confusion.

For the person she had secretly admired since childhood, she finally left Prisk during the chaos and came to Reinhardt’s side. And now, she would leave her homeland with Reinhardt.

Reinhardt was defeated.

Christina did not know the reason behind the disintegration of the Mythical Army and even the entire Ryan Army. When she arrived here, Reinhardt, along with the few soldiers still loyal to him, was already preparing to board the Desic transport ship.

The main force of the Feiyang expeditionary army’s ground troops had already landed in Mezrich. Stephen was dead, and Desic’s five armored divisions had to retreat to Little Pyrenees before the expeditionary army fleet could block the passage.

Christina did not know if her choice was right or wrong.

She felt a little flustered and somewhat stubborn.

In her heart, Reinhardt had always been a hero.

One day, Reinhardt would return with his ideals to save this broken country.

Christina gazed into Reinhardt’s eyes. She found that Reinhardt’s look toward the distant base seemed so cold at that moment.

”I will come back!”

Reinhardt turned and strode into the cabin!

Christina took a deep breath and walked into the cabin. At the moment she was covered by the cabin door in the sky of Mezrich, she remembered that honest Fatty.

**************

In November 2062, under the watchful eyes of all humanity, the battle that concerned the entire Southeast war situation finally came to an end.

With the Western Alliance launching attacks from all sides, putting extreme pressure on all Fei Alliance member countries, the victory in the Southeast region’s battlefield undoubtedly gave all Fei Alliance countries enormous confidence.

After successfully luring the three Desic fleets from the Galileo Star System to reinforce Little Pyrenees, three mixed fleets of the Leray Federation, with the cooperation of the Pu-Ta United Fleet Group that secretly jumped through Jump Point into the Galileo Star System, easily recaptured the Galileo Star System.

Initially, this victory not only invigorated the entire Leray Federation but also truly demonstrated the power of the Feiyang Republic to the member countries of the Fei Alliance. An expeditionary army, under Hastings’ strategic planning, utilized precise calculations of Desic forces and timely attacks, not only dismantling the long-standing strategic Southeast Passage of the Western Alliance but also fought and regained the Galileo Star System for the Leray Federation.

The Fiscella-led Second Expeditionary Army United Fleet, after nearly eighty hours of fierce battle, finally, at the cost of losing eleven battleships, one space carrier, twenty-six high-speed cruisers, and hundreds of space fighters, annihilated the majority of the Desic fleet commanded by Hall, occupying the entire Gazalin with the assistance of the Knevel Republic. This news added a significant Chapter to the Southeast Passage campaign!

Compared to the space fleet, the victory of the ground troops was equally brilliant. The halo of victory enveloped the six elite armored divisions of Feiyang. In the announcement sent by the Expeditionary Army Headquarters, the six elite armored divisions miraculously defeated both the Reinhardt Group and the Stephen Group.

Eventually, the Stephen Group was completely dismantled. The Reinhardt Group also disintegrated after ultimately losing the battle. Each major military region, extremely disappointed in Reinhardt, wisely chose to distance themselves amidst the overwhelming expeditionary forces. Some generals even began to show favor to the Independent Army before the battle ended.

The Desic Empire, and even the entire Western Alliance, suffered major setbacks in their military deployment in the Southeast region. Desic not only lost Little Pyrenees but also six main space fleets! Less than a hundred warships managed to escape back to their homeland!

This battle ended.

However, as a huge mixed fleet arrived at the Desic Empire, as Desic Empire issued a general mobilization order and changed the fifth reinforcement plan to a readiness plan, people suddenly realized that the war had just begun. There are still many hardships in the days ahead.

Nevertheless, none of this affected the jubilation of the Leray Federation. And at this moment, a severely worded letter, signed by Fiscella, was delivered to the Leray Federation Supreme Command three days after the end of the campaign.
