Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 465: Volume 5 Chapter 66 Airborne

The entire Puditok is bustling at this moment. Several medium-sized Transport Ships and hundreds of small Transport Ships are docked at various bases, with countless Transport Mechas and Engineering Mechas, as well as infantry transport vehicles, busily loading various materials onto the Transport Ships.

Over a thousand strategic material reserve warehouses, nearly half have been emptied. The evacuation of non-combat personnel is also proceeding in an orderly manner. All operational Mechas and vehicles have been gathered together and are gradually retreating northeast toward Fadik, under the escort of several remaining infantry battalions.

The temporary command post of the Long Line Ridge Battlefield has been moved into a heavy Command Mecha that can accommodate twenty people, ready to set off.

At this moment, inside the Mecha, Nia, who had just rushed back to Puditok, and several regiment leaders were staring at each other. ”Assassinate Stephen?” This news left them dizzy for a moment.

No matter what level of Commander, they usually focus on strategy and tactics. Issues like enemy deployment, troop strength, combat capability, mobility, and logistics are what these Commanders, schooled in the Military Academy or risen through the ranks by military merit, are concerned with.

In this world, if someone finds the enemy troops too tenacious and decides to fly over directly to attack the commander, it seems only Fatty could pull that off. This guy is fundamentally not a general. When it comes to covert operations and irrational tactics of Special Soldiers, there’s no one more familiar than him globally.

The battle is in a stalemate, surrounded by enemies, and you’re flustered and exasperated? Then don’t blame me for attacking your key points! It’s akin to losing a fight and resorting to unscrupulous tactics by grabbing an opponent’s vulnerable spot. Whether it’s effective or not, deal with it first.

This kind of war logic would be a joke in any other place. In whichever country, modern military systems first ensure that the command structure of the army won’t collapse due to the death of any individual! If the Marshal dies, there is a General; if all the Generals die, there are still Vice Admirals.

Killing someone doesn’t stop the planet from spinning. The fight continues, at most with a slight delay.

”Is it useful?” Jiasier murmured.

After a moment of silence, Stewart clenched his fist with a crack and said heavily, ”It is useful!”

Hearing Stewart say this, everyone exchanged looks. Upon serious consideration, they realized, given Mezrich’s current situation, if Fatty really were to take out Stephen, the Stephen Group, which was already struggling under the Expeditionary Army’s assault and with numerous internal issues, might truly begin to collapse!

The main reason for this is losing Stephen as a figurehead. Even if the Howard family is powerful, the various lords might not continue to send their limited military forces to support them. After all, family military power is the guarantee of family interests. No one is a fool; everyone leaves an escape route for themselves!

Moreover, if Stephen dies, even if the battle is won, what then? The Howard family might still leverage their strength to negotiate with Reinhardt, but these families that served as cannon fodder probably won’t even have a say.

This reckless move by Fatty, though it seems childish, upon careful consideration, captures the critical point of the entire situation. Regardless of how the battle evolves, it begins by killing the leader to see what happens. This is precisely Fatty’s typical unreasonable and obstinate rogue style.

Most importantly, the Nineteen Division and the Freedom Front do not have to face Desic’s elite Armored Division head-on, avoiding unnecessary sacrifices.

While everyone was moved by Fatty’s solo attempt to assassinate Stephen deep behind enemy lines, they couldn’t help but worry. No matter how outstanding a Special Soldier unit is, without an extremely meticulous plan in advance, without the close coordination of intelligence and operational units, and without considerable luck and sacrifice, accomplishing such a mission is extremely difficult.

Yet, Fatty actually just entered alone piloting a warplane.

Nia was both angry and worried. She fiercely glared at Bonnie, biting her lip, and stamped her foot, saying, ”This idiot!”

Just as she was thinking, a military consultant’s report at the central information station interrupted the regiment leaders’ thoughts: ”The first flight squadron has already approached the airdrop point.”

With a whoosh, several regiment leaders gathered around.

The dozens of virtual screens at the central information station were showing images of the SkyNet Satellite tracking the warplane formation from various angles. Stephen is at the Christers Army Base, three hundred kilometers east of Jiacuo. Twenty-four Sea Demon aircraft have already approached Jiacuo’s aerial interception range.

The air interception by the Stephen Group has limited the depth of warplane penetration, and at this moment, Jiacuo has also become a massive meat grinder battlefield. The peripheral maneuver of the Expeditionary Army has expanded this battlefield to beyond a hundred kilometers. For Fatty to reach Christers Base, the only route is to traverse the Jiacuo battle zone and race through the mountainous valleys on the left flank of the No.6 Resource Highway for more than two hundred kilometers!

As everyone gathered around the central information station, the aircraft squadron was welcomed by a wave of anti-aircraft missile blockades. From the perspective of the SkyNet Satellite overhead, these anti-aircraft missiles launching from the depth of Jiacuo’s rear missile bases had already broken out of the clouds, resembling waves of Flying Fish suddenly emerging from the sea, rushing towards the aircraft squadron.

Then everyone heard a voice so familiar it could not be more familiar.
