Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 461: Volume 5 Chapter 63 Farewell

”Assassinate Stephen?” Bonnie widened her enchanting blue eyes, looking at Fatty, who had rushed back to Prisk alone, leaving the main force behind. She couldn’t help but exclaim, ”Christers Army Base, are you crazy?”

Fatty’s large head drooped gloomily, ”I don’t want to go, but I have no choice. If the East District isn’t resolved, I would have to let the warriors fight to the death against five elite Desic Armored Divisions.”

”But... but...” At this moment, Bonnie felt an inexplicable panic, ”We have already intercepted Reinhardt. Desic’s attack is unavoidable, and no one would ask us for pointless sacrifices.”

”Besides... we can completely withdraw from the combat zone. Worst comes to worst, we can intercept along the eastern front to buy time!” Becoming emotional, she grabbed Fatty’s clothes, ”I won’t let you go!”

This instantaneous emotional outburst left both of them stunned. Time seemed to come to a sudden halt at that moment.

Bonnie didn’t let go, ”Please don’t go?” Her voice, devoid of all decorum, was weak and helpless, with a slight tremble that made Fatty want to surrender unconditionally at once.

A woman’s charm isn’t in her beauty or how prettily she is dressed. A woman’s true allure is in the moment she blossoms for her man! That wholehearted love, worry, and tenderness can make any man fall.

Watching Bonnie slowly lean into his arms foolishly, Fatty groaned in pain. Every touch was describing the graceful and enticing curves of the body in his embrace, how firm yet soft it was. A searing heat that makes one’s blood boil.

Fatty quietly puckered his butt, his legs twisted together. The rapid secretion of adrenaline sent his indecent lust soaring sky-high. If an angry ”junior” bobbed out at this beautiful moment, it would be quite unseemly.

In a daze, Fatty found one of his big hands instinctively resting on Bonnie’s firm and shapely bottom.

”Pah!” Like being electrocuted, Bonnie bounced away from his arms and lightly spat at him. Perhaps only seldom so intimately involved with the opposite sex, Bonnie, usually calm and collected, was now in a fluster. Her blushed face lowered, eyes darting, adding much more allure.

With a dry cough, Fatty regretfully rubbed his fingers, which still held the lingering fragrance, and solemnly pulled out a battle plan, slipping it into the computer next to Bonnie. As the keyboard clicked lightly, a battle simulation program popped up on the screen.

”Look...” Fatty changed his expression as if he wasn’t the one who had just placed his hand on her bottom, frowning seriously, ”I’ve simulated it repeatedly. As you thought, we can’t establish a blockade position directly in Prisk, only gradually use the strength of a regiment to harass behind these two Desic Armored Divisions, disrupting their attack on Prisk City to the greatest extent.”

”I can’t sacrifice the brothers’ lives. However... this way, Prisk will have no direct defensive power.” Fatty bit his lip, ”I also can’t sell out our allies’ rear to the enemy! The only compromise is to block the Desic people on the road east!”

Fatty said with a long sigh, continuing, ”In my simulation, the Prisk Base is basically unsalvageable. Even if we can now relocate jets and partial materials northward and to Tanville East District, the losses are too severe.”

Looking at the few large arrows of different colors on the electronic map, Fatty’s voice grew heavier, ”Losing Prisk means the whole Expeditionary Army main force loses its retreat path! If we can’t hold back Desic and the Ryan Group’s east advance before securing a decisive victory in the East District, it may drag down the entire war zone. As the highest commander of the Western Line defense, I’ll be fully responsible. It’s hard to imagine what kind of reaction the Feiyang people will have to my decision then.”

”You’ve done all you can!” Bonnie said in surprise, ”What other reaction could there be? Reinhardt, wasn’t he the one you defeated head-on?”

”But, I also let go of Prisk to reduce the troop’s sacrifice!” Fatty said with a bitter smile, ”As a soldier, there’s no reasoning. On the battlefield, you never have a way to distinguish which sacrifices are worthwhile and which aren’t!”

Bonnie was silent. As a senior member of Gazalin’s most severe military group, she naturally knew what Fatty was talking about. For sacrifices, the Mythical Army never cared. Under that strict military rule, even for maintaining the Mythical Army’s honor and the warriors’ faith, a warrior’s life could be sacrificed!

For a century, who argued about what was worthwhile? That military rule is still the number one rule! Before, Bonnie thought this was only natural, but now with Fatty, she suddenly discovered how inhumane this military rule was.

Judging by how the Expeditionary Army abandoned its pawns so greatly, Fiscella also viewed sacrifices lightly. In Hastings’ lineage, what he needs is merely victory!

If the Mezrich Battle has no hope of victory at all, or if it ultimately ended victoriously, it could be justified. But if we fail with potential victory in sight, a group of military consultants crawling over the electronic simulation map could likely treat Fatty’s decision as a decisive mistake affecting the battle’s ultimate outcome.
