Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 464: Volume 5, Chapter 65: Heading East

”It definitely will.” Delabin laughed.

Fiscella drummed his fingers on the armrest of the command seat and said, ”Unfortunately, the fish took the bait too late. Otherwise, we would have had a chance to retrieve the bait.” With a solemn expression, he said deeply, ”Report to the Command Department, the enemy enticement is successful, you may execute the closing plan.”

”Yes!” Delabin stood at attention. He knew that when the Desic Fleet originally stationed in the Galileo Star System appeared behind the Expeditionary Army fleet, two Tatania Fleets and two Puditok Fleets would form a United Fleet. With the public star system coordinates provided by the Leray Federation, they would break into the Galileo Star System and cooperate with the Leray Federation to launch a counterattack, completely closing the Leray Channel gate!

Everything happening in the Little Pyrenees Star Domain was requested to cooperate by the god of war in the wheelchair at the Fei Alliance Joint Front Headquarters. From a strategic standpoint, Hastings had to eliminate the hidden threat in the Galileo Star System ahead of time while the Leray Federation’s eastern line was in trouble at the Bermuda Battle Zone. Hence, he required the Southeast Second Expeditionary Army to cooperate.

Yes, it was just a simple request to cooperate, but the entire Little Pyrenees was his bait.

However, Fiscella was unsatisfied with merely acting as bait; he wanted to achieve greater profits and more brilliant victory. Therefore, he had to take greater risks. So, he bet on six elite armored divisions and Mezrich’s local resistance forces. At this moment, he also bet on the entire Expeditionary Army fleet.

”Now, it’s up to us,” Fiscella said calmly and composedly. ”Order the Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Fleets to surround and destroy the enemy’s main attack fleet. The second transport fleet must be at level one readiness, always prepared to land on Mezrich. Communicate with Knevel to tell them that regardless of whether their fleet is ready, they must seal the Little Pyrenees Star System Jump Point entrance within two days! Let them remember, it’s the entrance on this side!”

Fiscella had made adequate preparations.

If this battle is victorious, the entire Little Pyrenees will no longer have the presence of the Western Alliance Fleet within a week. At that time, the twelve elite armored divisions carried by the second transport fleet will land with the might of Mount Tai, sweeping through Mezrich with the support of space fighters.

And with the follow-up of the Knevel Republic, taking Biekelan will be a piece of cake.

If the battle is lost, the Expeditionary Army will unhesitatingly cut its losses, prioritizing the sacrifice of the less important newly formed Fifth Fleet, then retreating to the Blue Baltic Star System under cover of the Knevel Fleet. The second transport fleet, already near the Mezrich sector, will also retreat after assisting part of the Feiyang Army at Mezrich. Of course, should the situation reach that point, Mezrich’s other allies will be completely abandoned.

Sometimes, allies are meant to be sacrificed. This decision wasn’t difficult for Fiscella; on public and private fronts, retaining the stronger fighting power of the Feiyang elite army was his first choice. In the face of the powerful Feiyang Republic, Gazalin’s resistance forces, with their lower combat power, truly did not have equal rights and status.

This isn’t tyranny, nor betrayal; it’s just a simple, cruel fact.

Will the situation develop to that point?

No one can say for certain. When the battle arrives, Fiscella is an unreasonable madman! He would bet not only on others but also on himself.

”First Fleet, we will face the onslaught of four Desic Fleets alone until our other fleets have defeated the enemy and freed their hands.” Fiscella laughed as he said, ”It’s a tough process. If you’re a man, damn it, hold out for ten hours!”

The Expeditionary Army First Fleet began to charge towards the incoming Desic 12th Fleet.

”Execute the plan.” Russell gently waved his hand, no longer looking at the military advisor who received the order. He turned around and gazed out the window at the new buds sprouting on the tree branches, heaved a long sigh.

Bernadotte took two steps forward, wanting to speak but ultimately could only let out a sigh, standing silently behind Russell.

In this war, the Leray Federation is just a weakling, one that has nearly exhausted all its forces but happens to be in a crucial position.

This is a war sweeping across humanity, and as a member of the Fei Alliance, the Leray Federation has no other choice. With the enemy heavily pressing on all sides, if they don’t wish to surrender or face national extinction, the only path is to listen to the ”coordination” of the Fei Alliance Joint Front Headquarters.

This time, the ”coordination” returned the Galileo Star System to the Leray Federation. It should have been a joyful outcome, but intelligence suggested that this move by Hastings might completely sacrifice the resistance forces of Gazalin.

Among them are the Freedom Front, Independent Army, Leray warriors, and Leray heroes.

All these people are related to Russell.

They are his compatriots, comrades, kin, colleagues, and students.

Now, they have all become discarded pawns. This is unfair to Russell. But, in these chaotic times, where is fairness to be found? The Feiyang Republic boldly claims that they staked six elite armored divisions on this.

But Bernadotte knows that these six elite armored divisions will not be entirely sacrificed. When the situation turns unfavorable, most of them will be safely evacuated from Mezrich under the protection of the Feiyang Fleet. Besides, these six armored divisions, to the mighty Feiyang Republic, are nearly negligible, while Mezrich’s resistance forces are everything to Russell!

Everyone knows these truths, yet no one can voice them! As Leray people, the Feiyang Expeditionary Army is the allied troop meant to help them. Who could accuse them? The politicians of the Leray Federation will not betray Leray’s interests for Russell’s sake. At this moment, Bernadotte could only stand quietly behind Russell, expressing apology through silence.

A nation’s democracy, a people’s revival, always comes with blood and fire. Maybe, Gazalin can achieve rebirth eventually, but before that, the populace of this nation will endure bitter suffering amid the flames of war, a long process.

Gazalin once brought all of this upon many nations, and now they are tasting the same bitter fruit.

The phrase ”backwardness leads to vulnerability” holds great truth. Without power, there is no voice. In politics, a game where countries seek benefits for themselves, neither allies nor enemies will show any sympathy for the weak. What they can offer are abandonment, sacrifice, and invasion.

Now, there is only hope that Fiscella will achieve a decisive victory in the Little Pyrenees Star System. The twelve elite armored divisions must engage in battle before the complete collapse of the Mezrich front. Otherwise, Russell and Bernadotte couldn’t imagine what solution could turn the dire situation around in Mezrich.

No one predicted that Stephen could join hands with Reinhardt so swiftly. No one foresaw that Stephen’s desperate resistance would drag the six elite armored divisions of Feiyang into a stalemate. Added with the full-scale attack of the Desic Armored Division, the situation has reached the worst possible state.

That Fatty at this moment, one fears, is beyond saving himself. No matter how capable he is of creating miracles, for such a large-scale campaign, he ultimately is just a rookie leading forces for the first time.

.....................

The silver [Sea Demon]-type land-based fighter, under the guidance of an automatic tractor, slowly moved into the launch platform.

”J19-178, check complete, instruments are normal. Requesting permission for takeoff,” the communication came from a Level 8 pilot of the Independent Army responsible for transporting Fatty, also the squadron leader of twenty-four space fighters, with extremely rich flying experience.

”Please wait...” came the response over the intercom.

”J19-178, you are clear for takeoff. Good luck out there,” signaled the control tower.

With the sound of the launcher starting, the [Sea Demon] fighter was propelled to an extremely high speed in an instant, shooting out through the nearly thirty-degree underground launch port. In the sky now, there were already twenty-three other [Sea Demon] fighter jets, rapidly coordinated into an impressive and swift air maneuver tightly surrounding them.

After twenty seconds, the entire [Sea Demon] fighter squadron, in a large triangular formation, roared eastward. (To be continued on www.qidian.com, more Chapters to support the author and read authentic content!)
