Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 455: Volume 5, Chapter 61: Heart-set Pill

The Expeditionary Army’s Supreme Commander Fiscella quietly watched the Biekelan Star outside the bridge, his thin lips tightly pressed together, making his somewhat gaunt face appear very stern.

On the giant screen of the central information station, numerous giant transport ships had already detached from the protection of the cruisers, slowly gathering below the fleet after emerging from behind the battleships.

Six Blue Whale-class giant transport ships and three Mammoth-class giant transport ships, capable of carrying enough Feiyang Armored Forces and materials to establish a foothold on any planet in the southeastern region of the human interstellar map.

”Seventeenth Fighter Squadron returning... Twentieth Squadron deploying. Open passage six...”

”Landing point seven, clearing information received.”

”Landing point one needs support, Ninth Squadron. Proceed immediately, regional coordinates....”

In front of the central console, a scene of busy activity unfolded, with the officers of the Space Carrier coordinating those space fighters buzzing around outside the portholes like bees.

These fighters, tasked with clearing landing points, had to eliminate all potential threats to the giant transport ships before they entered the atmosphere. This work was nearing its end, as under the attack of the advanced Feiyang space fighters, the air defense forces of the Desic Empire left on Biekelan were indeed very weak.

Having lost their air defense and aerial mobility capabilities, the only thing the Desic ground forces could do was to strengthen defensive deployments in every major city as much as possible. Besides that, they were powerless against the final landing of the Fei Alliance forces.

On the virtual screen of the central console, the fleet of giant transport ships was already gradually forming. The last few cruisers surrounding them were also slowly departing, returning to the fleet formation. Soon, with the completion of the electronic reconnaissance of the landing points, these giant transport ships would penetrate the atmosphere and carry out the landing operation.

Fiscella’s thoughts seemed not to be focused on the upcoming landing operation. His fingers lightly tapped on the wide armrest of the commander’s chair, rhythmically and monotonously, like the pendulum of an old mechanical clock.

”General!” The military staff officer responsible for the space fighters’ pinpoint clearing task stood in front of Fiscella and reported, ”The clearing of the seven landing points has been completed, and the electronic reconnaissance aircraft has verified that the passage cleanliness is rated as Grade A.”

”Hmm.” Fiscella seemed to have just come back to his senses. He lightly frowned, his fingers still tapping softly. After a while, he pressed the communicator, ”Any radar findings?”

”No, General!” The voice of the Intelligence Coordinator responsible for radar surveillance came through the communicator, ”It’s very calm around, but...”

Fiscella asked, ”But what?”

The Intelligence Coordinator said, ”Around the No. 3 Resource Planet, there’s a meteorite belt that the radar can’t probe. We’ve already sent an electronic ship and a squad of fighters there. We should have news soon.”

”No. 3 Resource Planet?”

As Fiscella’s fingers swept across the interstellar map, the diagram showing the entire Little Pyrenees Star System rapidly zoomed out and transformed, with the Biekelan Constant Star System quickly emerging.

The No. 3 Resource Planet mentioned by the Intelligence Coordinator was located in the A-sequence airspace nearest to Biekelan Planet, sharing the same spiral arm as Biekelan in the Little Pyrenees Star System. Among the sixteen planets in that constant star system, the No. 3 Resource Planet was the largest, its volume equivalent to 300 times that of Biekelan Planet.

Though named a Resource Planet, the actual resource extraction was concentrated on its six moons. The main planet’s resources were not abundant, and extraction was very difficult. Apart from the challenges of gravity and the magnetic field, the most troublesome was the need to cross an annular meteorite belt to land on the main planet.

When the three-dimensional diagram of the vast meteorite belt around the No. 3 Resource Planet appeared in front of Fiscella, he suddenly stood up, ”Where has the electronic ship reached?”

Almost as soon as he spoke, sharp alarms suddenly sounded inside the giant carrier’s command room. A major in charge of communications swiftly grabbed the file handed over by an officer at the central information station and quickly ran to the main control station, reporting, ”General, three Desic mixed fleets have suddenly jumped to our fleet’s rear at a distance of five thousand kilometers and are closing in at full speed.”

”Five thousand kilometers?” Fiscella’s face sure turned grim, while the military staff waiting for his instructions beside him couldn’t help but cry out.

Even when a fleet is in the tightest formation, it can spread nearly a hundred kilometers. And five thousand kilometers between two opposing fleets is almost like no distance at all!

After an interstellar jump, if deceleration doesn’t occur, the ships can maintain the 3rd Universe Speed, which is a breakneck speed of 16.7 kilometers per second, covering thousands of kilometers in minutes. Five thousand kilometers would vanish completely in just a few minutes.

For the Expeditionary Army’s United Fleet, which was essentially in a stationary state, this was a lethal threat. ”Are the Desic people crazy? How did they get our precise coordinates?” the shocked military staff couldn’t help but cry out.

No wonder he was shocked. In this era, due to the high speed of ship jumps and the need for deceleration distances, making a jump requires precise coordinates. These coordinates must be free of any celestial bodies, including planets, warships, or meteorites, within a diameter of at least ten thousand kilometers, even by the lowest standards.
