Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 300: Original text: Volume 4 Chapter 52 Lightning Assault Modified: Volume 4 Chapter 52 Lightning Assault

No wonder Bonnie was surprised, [Logic]’s movements had completely surpassed common sense!

It should be known that since the birth of Mecha, close combat had always been a major research direction. Regardless of how military Mecha fought in the front lines or how private Mecha used combat as their main mode of attack and entertainment, the investment in manpower and resources by Mechanical Manufacturing Companies and designers in this aspect was vast.

Scientists, during the development of Mecha, applied almost every suitable new technology to enhance its performance - more powerful engines, stronger super alloys, more rational drive systems, and more intelligent control systems, among others.

However, no matter how much research and development went into it, Mecha remained metal machines. Therefore, in combat, strength and speed were the main indicators. All the new technological applications aimed to enhance these two parameters! In everyone’s eyes, only a Mecha with faster movements, greater power, and simpler control was considered better.

Neither Bonnie nor Aistrazzi could have imagined that a metal Mecha could use such bizarre techniques! The fluid curling and joint-locking motions of this scrappy [Magic Beast] were inherently impossible for a Mecha to perform!

In the blink of an eye, while Aistrazzi was momentarily stunned, [Logic] had already kicked both legs into [Warhammer]’s midsection mid-air. As [Warhammer] was kicked upwards, [Logic] twisted its body to land, its arms still entangled with [Warhammer]’s right hand, and tossed the helpless [Warhammer] down the hillside.

The force of this backward slam was enormous. Even as a Level 9 Mecha warrior, Aistrazzi could do nothing while airborne. [Warhammer] fell like a collapsing boulder into the bushes below, getting completely disoriented from the impact.

Seeing several [Warhammer] Mechas speeding towards him after disentangling himself, Fatty quickly pushed the control stick, his right hand deftly gliding over the control keyboard like plucking strings. [Logic] stretched its body, leaped gracefully like a dragonfly skimming the water, and in an instant jumped off the hillside, darting into the bushes, and disappearing after a few flashes.

Everything happened in a flash, too fast!

Even as the roar of the [energy machine gun] faded into the distance, Bonnie still couldn’t recover her senses!

Surviving a fatal blow from a Level 9 Mecha warrior and the siege by nine Ninth Generation [Warhammer]s! Is this a dream? The life-saving kick, the eerie hand curl, and the smooth glide formed a mosaic in her mind that wouldn’t fade away!

Watching the long-range viewer, the [Warhammer]s blindly unleashing their furious firepower in the bushes, and the fiery explosions, Bonnie struggled to distinguish reality from dream! A minute ago, she was in despair, her heartbeat and breath indicative of desperation, and a minute later, this Fatty once again miraculously brought her out of the trap!

”This... damn Fatty!”

Bonnie, watching Fatty sneakily navigating [Logic] through the bushes, bit her teeth, really wanting to string this guy up and beat him hard to see how many secrets he still hid! How many more times he could surprise them out of despair!

”Thud!” Before Bonnie could take a breath, a familiar artillery sound tightened her heart again!

Glancing angrily, sure enough, the recently escaped Fatty was firing again!

Bonnie felt she was about to be driven crazy by this persistent bastard. He was like a shameless rogue, throwing stones and spitting from a distance when people weren’t looking, then running away in a panic when chased. As soon as he escaped a gang beating, this rogue would stop, obstinately throwing stones and spitting again.

The sniper hit the [Warhammer] Mecha, which had been previously hit during the pursuit, precisely. This unlucky Mecha was in a defenseless firing state on the slope, and this shot turned its already weakened energy shield blood red again, tearing a big hole in its midsection armor, leading to sparks flying and complete paralysis.

The fourth one!

Although they hadn’t expected the scrappy [Magic Beast] to dare to turn and provoke again, the [Warhammer] squad quickly reacted. Led by Aistrazzi, all the [Warhammer] back wings fully spread out, and with the strong thrust of the auxiliary thrusters, the nine [Warhammer]s launched towards Fatty like flying tigers out of their cages, gliding at low altitude.

Fatty turned and fled!

In the dense layers of bushes, waves of aggressive movement cut through. This time, Aistrazzi and his squad had allocated eighty percent of their energy to speed, in low altitude, the nine [Warhammer]s rose and fell, no matter how [Logic] changed direction, there was always a [Warhammer] monitoring from above.

The gap between the Ninth Generation Mecha and the Second-generation Mecha was finally evident under the full force of the [Warhammer] squad!

Aistrazzi’s blood boiled. That frantically fleeing [Magic Beast] made a mistake, he shouldn’t have provoked again at such a close distance! Although the shrubs were easy to hide in, they were not like the tall and thick pine forest that could dodge and increase the distance. Moreover, such pursuit speed and distance, along with the low-altitude monitor, left the [Magic Beast] no chance to hide his tracks.

The rapidly running [Magic Beast] changed direction again for the third time! Aistrazzi sneered coldly, waved his hand, and the [Warhammer] squad in triangular pursuit formation instantly changed formation. One side of the triangular formation turned into an arrowhead, instead of widening the distance, it closed the gap in such a straightforward change of direction.

The distance was less than thirty meters, and Aistrazzi’s roar echoed in the regional channel of the [Warhammer] squad: ”Catch him!”

Before the words had fallen, the three [Warhammer] mecha in the arrowhead position suddenly soared into the air, diving towards the panicked and tattered [Magic Beast] like meteors, faster than flying arrows!

The [Warhammer] mecha following in a fan shape behind suddenly spread to the left and right, a standard maneuver to avoid sudden changes in direction by the prey! In an instant, nine Mechas leapt out of the ocean of shrubs like flying fish, forming a lethal web!

Bonnie bit her lip tightly, a weird smile appearing on her face.

She knew that Fatty would suddenly stop and change direction!

[Logic] did suddenly stop and change direction, but instead of the folding turn Bonnie expected, it flew back close to the ground! The powerful auxiliary thrusters were fully activated, smoke spewed from the rear of the tattered [Magic Beast], and it shot through the gaps under the three airborne [Warhammer] mechas. The mecha computer of [Logic] flashed rapid warning signals as the mecha’s leg almost stepped into the magnetic detonation range of a pre-placed mecha mine!

The three [Warhammer] mechas missed!

”Boom!” An earth-shattering explosion tossed one [Warhammer] mecha into the sky! The energy shield on it entirely vanished the moment the explosion occurred, and the fragments from the mine completely destroyed the drive system of its legs. The entire [Warhammer] mecha, like a massive metal block, flew high and then smashed into the ground, tumbling several times with huge inertial force, crushing through shrubs along the way, finally exploding mid-air.

The other two [Warhammer] mechas closely following were also affected. Thrown away like kites with broken strings by the shock wave of the explosion, their energy shields’ colors flickered rapidly, and the metal bodies clattered with the hit fragments.

All the [Warhammer] mechas simultaneously roared in fury, charging toward the [Magic Beast] with electric speed.

Yet it wasn’t easy to regather the formation that had just spread out left and right, in a flash, [Logic] had already collided head-on with a [Warhammer] mecha.

Speaking of brute strength, the [Magic Beast], still used as the Federation’s professional loading and unloading Mecha even after being phased out, had an innate advantage, especially Fatty’s [Magic Beast III], which was six times sturdier than superhard alloy!

There was a loud crash, like two crazed rhinos colliding, raising clouds of dust and shattered branches. The unprepared [Warhammer] mecha was blasted away by [Logic] at over a hundred kilometers per hour, suddenly opening a gap in the previously tight encirclement!

Fatty would never miss the chance to beat a fallen enemy. [Logic] took large strides, caught up with the still-airborne [Warhammer], extended its right hand, grabbed the [Warhammer]’s right leg, bent down in a squat, and with an archer’s step, ducked under the [Warhammer], left elbow suddenly exerting force.

A moment later, utilizing softness to conquer hardness, the essence of Chinese ancient martial arts, Tai Chi!

With an inch force strike delivered, the [Warhammer] wasn’t sent flying but was instead pierced through the abdomen by the despicable Martial Arts gangster Tian Xingjian’s knife-hand!

The triumphant Fatty was about to speed up and exit through the gap when he heard a thunderous shout: ”Stay there for me!”

On the left side, a [Warhammer] mecha with a golden insignia raised its Battle Axe, pouncing at [Logic] like lightning tearing through the sky! The speed at that moment even caused the mecha’s body to ignite into a blaze from the air friction!

This was Aistrazzi’s true strength, the unparalleled Lightning Assault within thirty meters of Desic!
