Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 280: Volume 4 Chapter 44 The Boiling Federation_3

The declaration merely set aside the constraint of the Western Alliance over the Gazalin Empire, thereby bringing out Gazalin’s refusal to withdraw troops, with the Western Alliance showing a schadenfreude-like regret.

At that time, the Desic Empire’s seemingly interventionist action could still use the Human Supreme Joint Council’s peace mediation as a pretext, also using the removal of war and restoration of peace as a cover, and even the Galileo Star System occupied by the Gazalin Empire as a bargaining chip. But now, even the Gazalin Emperor has been captured, and with just one declaration from the Leray Federation, it could win the war with the most just stance and be invited to enter the Little Pyrenees!

When both sides were fighting fiercely, even the Desic Empire’s exercise fleet could not deter the Leray Federation’s determination to fight to the end. Now, what qualification do they have to reason with others? The trouble was stirred up by James, now that he has surrendered, what reason does the supporting side have to back him to the end?

If there is a need to do so, there’s only one way, which is to create a conflict, with Desic declaring war on the Leray Federation and sending troops straight into the Little Pyrenees Star Domain. However, the Leray Federation and the Fei Alliance are not pushovers. As long as Desic dares to take action, it is believed that the nearby Fei Alliance countries, having already received the news, will immediately join hands, and by then, it will be a full-blown world war!

”Exercise fleet vigilance upgrade, immediately send Special Forces into Mezrich, at all costs, rescue James!” Frank gritted his teeth as he issued the order, then immediately dialed the direct line to the Binart Empire’s Emperor. This time, without the Western Alliance’s intervention, Gazalin is probably in trouble!

”Crash!” Another innocent antique vase was shattered into pieces.

Stephen roared in anger, ”How is it possible, how could he have fallen into the hands of the Leray Federation?” In his extreme rage, he threw another vase, which went straight through the television screen, smashing against the wall into fragments.

Ritter was silent; the current situation was truly dire. Bad news came one after another. Originally, it was thought that Bruce could capture the defenseless James in one fell swoop, but who knew that a mere company of the Mythical Army and those third-rate troops stubbornly resisted Bruce’s Investigation Bureau preservation forces and half a regiment of mercenaries’ surprise attack.

Then, a strange armored unit forcibly broke through the blockade of three divisions, and before the ground forces could get a grasp of the situation, they suddenly discovered the Mythical Army’s tracks. Before they realized it, Reinhardt had released an announcement, directly targeting Stephen, and now the resistance in several attacked places was increasingly intense.

All the while, the news sent back from Glarenz was even more unbelievable. Two battle-hardened armored regiments were somehow taken out by a Mixed Army and that strange [Mad Dragon] army with an 80% casualty rate!

Upon reading the news from the Leray Federation, no wonder Stephen was furious. Without James, this coup couldn’t possibly end shortly. Externally there’s the Leray Federation, internally the Mythical Army, plus those military hardliners who bear grudges against or are loyal to Prince George. This coup, in the end, is likely to become a farce where the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind!

”Immediately release an announcement, declaring that Reinhardt is attempting to usurp power.” With a pale face, Stephen, despite his extreme anger, became calm and issued a series of orders: ”Intensify the ground offensive, establish a provisional government, contact the Leray Federation. The 39th Division and the 108th Division must achieve or eliminate... that person at all costs!”

Ritter received the order and was about to leave when Stephen suddenly called him back: ”Also, check Bruce’s situation; if he is dead, find out who killed him!”

”Who are you?” Zola fixatedly stared at the dilapidated Mecha in front of him, unable to imagine that outside of Reinhardt, someone in this country could still have such high-level Mecha skills.

”Who cares who I am! As long as you know James is in my hands, that’s enough!” Tian Xingjian impatiently rolled his eyes and rubbed his cramping hand vigorously. The prolonged high-intensity combat made him feel somewhat overwhelmed. Just in terms of Mechanical Control, Fatty knew that he was no match for the modified [Mad Dragon] opposite him.

This former Legion Commander of the Mythical Army was indeed well-deserved, his experience rich and unparalleled. However, in actual combat, besides pure Mechanical Control, there were many other factors that could influence the battle outcome.

Tian Xingjian asked mockingly, ”Old man, do you feel like you want to kill the enemy but are powerless to do so?” The villain was feeling smug, but Zola was already seventy, and it was a pity that he had taken the offensive first and resorted to dirty tricks, and it was a pity that [Logic] was far more advanced than that haphazardly modified [Mad Dragon].

He humming a little tune triumphantly, feeling very satisfied with gaining such an upper hand.

”Are you... are you not afraid I’ll fight you to the death?” Zola said viciously.

”Fight to the death?” Tian Xingjian dismissed it with a sniff: ”Fight whose life? To be honest, I’m just a fugitive wanting to use the Emperor as a human shield. When I’m safe, he’ll be safe too. If you want to fight to the death, that’s fine. Anyway, you’re risking the Emperor’s life, and by the time I crush him into mince and give him back to you, I can still escape, and you might not even be able to catch me!”

Fatty pulled the control lever, commanding [Vajra] to assume a horse stance, and demonstrated a few moves while puffing out his chest and belly, saying: ”Even though we are fewer in number than you, by that time, who captures who, it’s still anyone’s guess!”

As he spoke, a Mecha approach warning appeared on [Logic]’s radar. Fatty’s mind raced, and he continued: ”However, I don’t want both sides to suffer either. How about this, you stay here for thirty minutes, and then head west. When I reach a safe zone, I’ll leave the person you want for you.”

”How can I trust you?” Zola asked coldly.

”You can only trust me!” Fatty shrugged with [Vajra] under control: ”If I wanted to kill him, you wouldn’t be able to stop me.”

Zola gritted his teeth: ”Deal!”

Fatty didn’t respond, shouted ”retreat!” to the Mixed Army, then turned and left.

The powerful interference source in the prison had long been set by Fatty to another operational mode, leaving a safe passage for himself. With the interference source in effect, unless there was another high-powered strong interference suppression or the interference source was destroyed, no Mecha besides Fatty’s troops could resist the interference within the entire prison range.

Therefore, Fatty’s radar could detect approaching Mechas, but this did not mean the [Mad Dragon] which had its radar and electronic equipment interfered could also detect it. Besides, [Logic]’s radar, modified by Milan, was far more sensitive than most Mecha radars in the world; to be honest, it was essentially a miniaturized version of a warship radar.

At this time, any Mecha units arriving at the prison, Fatty could think with his butt that they couldn’t possibly be his own people, so it was the best thing to do to make a clean getaway while Zola was still kept in the dark.

As for releasing the hostage in a safe area as promised, that was just a fart. When it comes to promises, Fatty never really takes them seriously.
