Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 292: Volume 4, Chapter 48, Fighting Alone_2

From the comparison between [Logic] and [Warhammer], it can be imagined how big the disparity is between the Mixed Army armed with Private Mecha and the 6th Generation or even the 5th Generation Gazalin Standard Mecha, and the enemy behind them! That feeling is like a group of sheep facing a pack of wolves! There is absolutely no chance of winning in a frontal confrontation.

The most heartbreaking thing for Fatty is that, not only is fighting out of the question, but it probably won’t be possible to escape either!

The troop behind them are absolutely experts in combat and tracking, experienced pursuit specialists!

When mecha were first used in actual combat, there was basically no way to hide their whereabouts. The weight and size of the mecha meant that no matter how they moved, they would leave traces, especially in the jungle where these traces were extremely noticeable.

However, since the invention of stealth mode in modern mecha, mecha utilize environment analysis devices to automatically choose routes that are convenient for hiding traces. Additionally, the silent trace elimination device on the mecha’s mechanical legs can eliminate the sounds made by mecha walking and use porous jet-assisted power to distribute the mecha’s weight over a vast area.

For instance, in a snowfield. If a footprint appears on the white snow, it would naturally be very easy to spot. However, if the volume of snow displaced by the deep footprint is mysteriously collected and spread out over an area of several hundred square meters, the footprint would be shallow enough to be difficult for the naked eye to discern. This is the function of the silent trace elimination device.

Not being easily discovered does not mean that mecha won’t leave any traces at all. Therefore, how to choose the most suitable paths in various environments, how to create trace disguises, and how to minimize the possibility of trace detection has become a subject of study, which every Mechanical Warrior must master.

During Tian Xingjian’s training at the Special Forces Camp, whether it was natural stealth or mecha stealth, he excelled.

The highest evaluation grade was excellent, and the meaning of ”excellent plus” was that this guy had fooled everyone. No one could discover his whereabouts until the instructor conceded and declared the search over, only then did he reveal himself.

But now, even with Fatty’s most critical view, this Zhedexik armored troop is a keen-scented wolf.

The Desic Mecha have already spread out in a search formation. Several [Advantage] electronic mecha have metal mesh sheets on their heads that are clearly not decorations but energy trace detectors. As long as the scanned location had energy burning fluctuations within the last ten minutes, it would not escape the tracking of this energy trace detector.

In front of each squad, there was one [Warhammer] mechanical hand carrying a long rectangular device swaying side to side, advancing with it. This was an environment analyzer, an instrument that could scan the surroundings and capture and analyze unnatural changes, specifically used for searching in uninhabited areas. Anything not naturally formed could not escape this instrument’s capture.

Although single mecha action changes to the environment are very small, making it hard for this instrument to capture their whereabouts, a group of mecha acting together will inevitably leave traces. Just a single mecha brushing off a piece of bark while moving or causing the soil to unnaturally sink due to concentrated movement will trigger an alarm from this environment analyzer.

Apart from these tracking devices, this Mechanical Team’s search division is highly professional. Every step they take is extremely careful, avoiding interference with the search or causing issues for the search instruments. The coordination among the search squad members is very tacit, each performing their duties. Each square kilometer of search is conducted by three squads moving forward in an interlocking manner. It is quick and meticulous, making escape from their tracking virtually impossible!

Anything without search value is almost completely ignored by them!

Such an experienced tracker means exposure of our whereabouts is a matter of time. Once they catch up, even if we manage a guerilla ambush, the Mixed Army would stand no chance of winning. At that point, not only would the captives be lost, the entire troop would be consumed.

What to do? Fatty sighed dejectedly. The route they were currently taking was originally prepared for that fake Royal Spaceship. They were just at the fringes of the southern mountainous area. To go deeper into the jungle and reach the reception area designated by the Leray Federation’s covert operatives and Federation Intelligence Bureau, at least three days would be needed.

Moreover, if they can’t shake off the enemy behind them, even reaching the reception area would be pointless. There are only a few contacts and some basic facilities there, completely unable to resist the attacks from the troops behind them.

”Lord Jian, what do we do now?” Having realized the situation, Jiasier maneuvered the [Hurricane] slowly to the back of the troop and asked Tian Xingjian in a low voice.

Tian Xingjian, who was confronting Bonnie with wide-open eyes, replied irritably, ”What to do! Apart from praying they find us later, we can only sacrifice some people to hold them off for at least half a day, enough to cover the main troop’s entry into the mountains to disperse. What else can be done! Who will go? You?”

”Okay, I’ll go!” Jiasier agreed without hesitation. ”I will take a platoon for a guerrilla harassment. You guys retreat first. As long as we widen the gap, once the troop enters the mountains, it will disperse into the jungle depths. At that point, their detection instruments will become useless. Even if some warriors are caught by them, they won’t get any captives!”
