Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 298: 4 Volumes 51 Chapters Desperate Situation

Countless artillery fire whistled through the jungle, the violent explosions driven by an invisible hand, sweeping forward like waves. The surrounding trees were broken, shattered, flying, and burning under the artillery fire. Dirt was blasted into the sky, covering everything.

In this fierce artillery pursuit, [Logic] was like playing a passionate piano movement. It madly changed direction and bounded swiftly among rows of giant trees over a hundred meters tall, ten people couldn’t encircle. Each step stirred up a dense, deafening, shadow-like sound of death.

No adjective like ’by a hair’s breadth,’ ’inch from death,’ ’inseparable as shadow follows form’ can describe the relationship between the artillery fire and [Logic]!

The cat and mouse game, Aistrazzi and his nine [Warhammers] had played countless times, but they had never encountered a [Magic Beast] like this, which seemed to be an enlightened mouse!

There were countless occasions when it seemed that this battered [Magic Beast III] could no longer avoid the artillery strike, yet it miraculously deflected in an unfathomable trajectory. Its movements were completely irregular, like a Pegasus leaping and a goat hanging its horn.

Precision lead calculation, tracking shooting, illogical shooting, area fire lockdown, the ten [Warhammers] employed almost every possible shooting method. A half-hour passed, though the continuous artillery fire nearly destroyed every large tree on the nearly hundred-kilometer escape route, this battered [Magic Beast] still darted east and west in front of the Desic Hunters at the same initial speed and posture, unscathed!

This fact drove every [Warhammer] crazy. Was this really the result of ten Ninth Generation Mechas chasing down a battered Second-generation Mecha?

That [Magic Beast], sometimes with its belly sticking out, other times its butt in the air, bouncing and jumping, rolling and crawling, was just too bizarre!

”Boom!” Another energy bullet grazed [Logic]’s body, striking the nearby large tree, blasting a hole in the thick trunk. [Logic]’s body swayed twice, like a butterfly flitting among flowers, and in two large strides, it darted behind the tree, pushing the already shaky trunk with a reverse thrust.

As the trunk fell toward the pursuing tail, [Logic], with its rear on fire, leapt into the dense thicket of giant shrubs on one side. With the rapid color changes of the environment simulation device on the mecha’s body, [Logic] vanished in an instant.

The sniper’s professional skill, disappearing stealth, was employed in the mecha escape by the breathless Fatty! In the complete mountainous jungle area map scanned by [Logic]’s computer, this jungle with Mezrich’s unique giant shrubs and canyons was Fatty’s target area for escape.

If he can’t shake them off here, Fatty knows, then until he is exhausted to death, there won’t be any chance of losing this shadow-like pursuer! This boundless giant shrub thicket is a natural ambush spot. A thousand mechas thrown into this shrub and densely vegetated mountainous area is like pouring a basin of water into the desert. Only here can Fatty confidently hold back this Mechanical Armor Group, and only here will he have a chance for a counterattack!

Originally only two hundred meters from the [Magic Beast], Aistrazzi swerved the control lever, dodging the falling giant cedar, while the energy cannon on the mecha’s right arm continued firing rapidly, sweeping the giant shrub thicket hiding the [Magic Beast]’s traces into a shattered state.

The [Magic Beast] disappeared!

The ten [Warhammers], unable to believe their eyes, fired fiercely at the same time. The ferocious barrage nearly instantly cleared a space of shredded remains in the dense thicket.

However, that bizarre [Magic Beast] still showed no trace, as if a droplet of water had evaporated into thin air from this world.

The [Warhammers] looked at each other in disbelief, while an eerie ambiance filled the air.

In the dense giant shrub thicket, trying to catch a stealthy mecha was far more challenging than in the open glades of the cedar forest earlier. However, Aistrazzi had no choice. This damned [Magic Beast] didn’t just kill his brother, but also humiliated the entire Hunter Mecha Group with two point-kills and a middle finger!

If a seemingly scrapyard-salvaged Second-generation Mecha managed to sneak away under the noses of thousands of Eighth and Ninth Generation Mechas, this disgrace could never be washed away! Whether for Aistrazzi as a Level 9 Mecha Warrior or for the entire Hunter Mecha Group, such an outcome was unacceptable!

This battle would not only relegitimize them to a second-rate Mechanical Armor Group in the Desic Empire but also make the Hunter Mecha Group the laughing stock of all peers. When that time comes, no one could hold their heads high. So, although Aistrazzi understood that the pursuit in the thicket would be harder and the enemy might suddenly emerge from the unexpected darkness to counterattack, he plunged into the jungle without hesitation!

The dense branches and leaves, head-high, parted at the transparent observation window of the mecha cabin. Ten mechas maintained formation, cutting through the thicket in a wave-like strike trace.

The cold wind brushed by, rustling the thicket leaves. The footfalls of the running mechas were remarkably clear.
