Chapter 286: Volume 4 Chapter 46 Pincer Attack_2

*********************************************************************

”Contact in five minutes?” Klatch looked at the terrain. He hadn’t expected that James would still have a guard unit! SkyNet, paralyzed at eighty percent, had marked this unit, which could only prove that the opponent needed assistance! They attempted to use SkyNet to gather troops loyal to James, and he had just coincidentally encountered them taking their first steps out of prison!

Klatch, who had been in a wavering state all along, found it hard to make up his mind! Before this, he had always been in the process of observing. However, the moment of choice had suddenly arrived in front of him; either launch an attack or continue fulfilling his mission as a commander of a third-rate armored group stationed outside the prison.

One step to heaven, one step to hell!

The question is, which step leads to heaven!

Just as Klatch’s eyes flickered with hesitation, a burst of energy bullets completely dispelled his doubts!

A [Mad Dragon] suddenly appeared at the rear of the First Battalion of Klatch’s armored group. ”Boom boom boom,” almost without any interval, several energy bullets hit the two [Holy Armor 22] Single Soldier Mechas beside the armored group like lightning at close range. The armor and energy shields of these nearly obsolete Single Soldier Mechas were as fragile as tin plates; they exploded simultaneously in flashing red, turning into two fireballs.

Before everyone could react, the assailing [Mad Dragon] swiftly cut into the junction between the First Battalion and the Guard Company in the middle, its target being Klatch who was piloting a [Holy Sword 16]. Like an assassin with lightning speed, the appearance of this [Mad Dragon] was so sudden, its attack so fierce. At the same moment when the two unprepared [Holy Armor 22] exploded, the [Mad Dragon] in the blinding firelight had already charged into the Guard Company with unimaginable speed.

The [Mad Dragon], darting like lightning, completely disregarded the Single Soldier Mechas of the bewildered Guard Company, accelerating step by step with its silver-white alloy body, much like a cannonball out of its muzzle. The unfortunate Guard Company’s outermost [Holy Armor 22] became its stepping stone. With a loud bang, the unfortunate [Holy Armor 22] was deformed by the [Mad Dragon]’s stomp, and the [Mad Dragon] leveraged this to propel itself into the air toward Klatch with a sudden change in direction.

Fortunately, Klatch had always pushed hard on the soldiers’ training, and the Guard Company’s equipment was the best in the entire group. Besides three [Three-headed Dogs], there was the only [Fierce Beast II] Heavy Mecha in the entire group, precisely the mecha that saved Klatch’s life.

Just as the [Mad Dragon] lunged at Klatch’s mecha cockpit in mid-air, the [Fierce Beast II] walking beside Klatch suddenly took a big step forward, using its gigantic body to shield the [Holy Sword 16]. At that moment, all the soldiers reacted. With the mechanical grinding sound of mechas unfolding into combat mode, dozens of energy cannon muzzles rapidly tried to lock onto the [Mad Dragon]’s tracks.

Seeing no chance, the [Mad Dragon] somersaulted in the air, kicking the chest of the [Fierce Beast II] with a forceful stomp. With the ignition of its back auxiliary thruster, the [Mad Dragon] reflected back at an even faster speed and rushed into the forest. With the cracking and falling of several large trees and the subsequent sound of exploding cannonballs, it vanished without a trace in just a flash!

”This is a beheading! They want to seize my military command!” In a cold sweat, Klatch quickly abandoned all illusions: ”All forces, attack!”

Amidst Klatch’s roar, the First Company at the rear of the First Battalion immediately charged forward. Dozens of [Holy Armor 22] and over ten much older [Holy Armor 20] along with the one old-style [Iron Armor Beast] Heavy Mecha in each company swiftly unfolded into combat formations, pouring firepower in a fan shape towards the forest where the [Mad Dragon] mecha had retreated.

Meanwhile, the two [Bunker] type medium-sized mechas of the First Company halted on the sides of the formation. With six mechanical legs forming a tripod, their oversized energy cannons began roaring furiously amidst intense vibrations. Rather than calling them medium-sized mechas, it would be more appropriate to refer to them as mobile artillery with the size of medium-sized mechas.

The Second and Third Companies of the First Battalion, serving as the vanguard, quickly formed their attack formations. Supported by the Third Battalion in the central rear, they launched an assault on the distant troops.

”Dammit!” Zola was almost crazed! Just when he had entered the forest and discovered a clue, a third-rate armored unit of the Empire launched an attack without making a sound. Although the mechas were old junk, the collective fire from the Empire-standard energy cannons of similar caliber was still astonishingly powerful.

Once hit continuously, even if [Mad Dragon] mechas were more advanced than theirs, it would still be deadly!

At this moment, the Miracle Army in a search formation had only a single company directly in front. With the opponent’s attack, the surrounding [Mad Dragons] could only desperately move towards the center. No formation, no initial firepower advantage, and mutual distances were precisely where the opponent’s energy cannon power was most effective! This unreasonable loss caused Zola’s already suppressed Anger to surge fiercely.

”Kill! Kill them all!” Infuriated to the extreme, Zola yanked the control lever and charged forward under the hail of cannon fire.

”Whew!” Pretending to be [Mad Dragon], Fatty let out a sigh of relief. He grabbed Bonnie and James, who were thrown onto a tree, and used stealth mode to pass through a position parallel to the battlefield, heading towards the direction from which the third-rate armored group had come. Ahead of him, the Mixed Army had already quietly moved out of the surveillance range of the two engaged mecha units.
