Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 276: Volume 4 Chapter 42 Circumstances Create Heroes_3

The two heavy mecha commanders were trembling with rage. This was the third they had accidentally killed in the process of chasing that .

The cunning and despicable fully utilized the limitations of the rebel mechas inside the isolation net, like a wily fox always slipping away just before the Hunter could catch it. The fired madly, but all they got in return was the pesky throwing one light Single Soldier Mecha after another in front of the energy cannon muzzle.

The gorilla, hopping and bouncing around, played amongst the mecha group with the most ridiculous and clumsy postures, as if it wasn’t fighting but rather like a child who had just gotten a pile of toys. Yet, its strikes were more vicious than the . Whenever it darted into a cluster of mechas, it would always stir up chaos, and soon, mecha after mecha was effortlessly dismantled into parts by it. Even while running, it would casually swipe at nearby mechas, pulling out a circuit board or a chip.

The destructive power of was more terrifying than that of the .

Glarenz was completely desperate. A regiment of soldiers was utterly unable to resist the slaughter by both the mechanical army outside the prison and these mixed army mechas behind him. On the outskirts of the prison, within this isolation net already torn to shreds by artillery fire and mechas, his forces were melting away like snow under the blazing sun.

”Break through freely!”

The situation was becoming increasingly dire. Glarenz decisively issued the command. He understood that before Stephen fully committed the 39th and 108 Armored Divisions, there was no hope of snatching James with fewer than a division’s worth of troops. Those mixed army mechas were not any less formidable than the group driving the outside. These two forces, whose origins were unknown, were enough to change the entire plan. Clearly, Bruce had already failed. Even if Stephen defeated all hidden opponents before capturing James, he still couldn’t truly gain imperial power.

The rebel mechas scattered in a frantic escape, as if granted a pardon.

Under the protection of the Guard Company, Glarenz was the first to break through the eastern isolation net and disengage from the battle. He was surprised at how smoothly the breakout had gone.

He looked back and saw that as his soldiers scattered and slipped through the gaps in the isolation net, the on the prison outskirts and the mixed army mechas inside the prison only pursued briefly before stopping. Their formations had come too close; the soldiers on both sides seemed to have a natural hostility. The mecha cannon muzzles were all aimed at the opposing side.

Glarenz angrily turned around and sped up the breakout with his remnant forces, finally gaining a bit from this humiliating operation.

The situation in the combat area was peculiar. Two mecha groups that had just joined forces to attack now ceased their pursuit amidst the chaos, forming two distinct parts and cautiously confronting each other. Meanwhile, over a hundred remaining rebel mechas were fleeing in all directions between and around them.

Only two mechas continued to chase and kill wantonly.

One was a battered , and the other an extremely exaggeratedly modified . These two mechas, like chickens in a race, chased and pounced on the fleeing rebel mechas, pulling and tearing them apart, adding a competitive edge to the scene.

As the rebels fled, Fatty and Zola found fewer and fewer targets. Eventually, both of them locked on to a . Zola fired first, and the fierce barrage quickly diminished the blue energy shield of the to a pale red. But before he could get close, Fatty piloted the and slipped past him from the side, pounding and striking repeatedly, shredding the ’s power system to bits.

Seeing his prey become someone else’s trophy, roared in anger, kicking forcefully towards the cockpit. Fatty, unwilling to be outdone, shook the sturdy arms of the to deflect ’s leg and continued to spin his fists like a windmill, smashing down at ’s head. , seemingly oblivious to the danger, advanced instead of retreating, its body covered in spikes aiming for the embrace of . Fatty would not let it succeed easily. The had already prepared a short, stout leg which then kicked out abruptly, sending somersaulting in the air.

From fighting over a prey to a life-and-death struggle, these two were clearly in an extremely excited and abnormal mental state, and without a word, they began fighting fiercely. The rapid and violent exchange left all onlookers in stunned amazement.

”Damn it, don’t you care about James’ life?” Fatty, always wretched, seized the moment when was still struggling to stand from its tumble. He piloted the straight at , attacking its vital points with a left fist and a right claw while shouting to force a reaction from .

Zola had already lost the initiative. Slightly stunned by the remark, he found with the force of a storm already upon him, raining blows down with terrible momentum.

Zola, retreating in haste and desperately defending, cursed, ”You despicable man!”

Both prided themselves on their speed. At this moment, the fierce and rapid exchange was intense beyond measure. Onlookers could only see mecha limbs flying within the blur of light and shadow, and the sounds of collisions were as dense as machine gun fire, leaving people speechless.

Zola, too hurried in his responses, was unable to fully keep up with ’s pace, gradually falling into a disadvantage.
