Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 260: Volume 4, Chapter 35: The End of Betrayal_2

”Oh?” Stephen was somewhat puzzled. Judging from the battle report in his hand, this operation was almost perfectly successful! The entire situation in Mezrich was under his control. Up to this point, nearly thirty percent of the ground garrison had laid down their arms and declared allegiance.

What trouble could there be at this moment? Is it that the Mythical Army from Biekelan has returned, or did something go wrong on Bruce’s end at the prison?

Are these really troubles? The Mythical Army is indeed formidable, with combat power unmatched throughout all of Gazalin. However, the Mythical Army now is merely an Armored Division previously crippled in Miloke and not fully recovered. No matter how powerful, they are still just one division! If, at the start of the coup, this division was still in Tanville, they might have posed a problem. But, coincidentally, this division is currently in Biekelan!

James, this iron-fisted ruler of Gazalin, while somewhat troublesome, with SkyNet paralyzed, his communications cut off, and his left and right arms diverted, is just one man, after all!

A man who can be completely eliminated with a single bullet!

”The thirty-ninth Armored Division reports that two regiments of troops are moving towards the prison. Looking at the Mechas and insignia...” Ritter’s tone was somewhat anxious: ”It’s the Mythical Army!”

”Impossible!” Stephen suddenly stood up: ”The Mythical Army absolutely cannot appear here! If they could appear now, it definitely wouldn’t be at the position of the 39th Division! Unless... they’ve always been in Tanville!”

”I know, it doesn’t make sense. If they were always in Tanville, they would have acted long ago and wouldn’t have waited until now!” Ritter’s speech was rapid. As Stephen’s cousin, his father had tied their entire family to the same chariot as Stephen. If the coup failed, the entire Howard family would face total destruction! At this crucial moment, Ritter felt he couldn’t stay calm: ”The report found some changes in the insignias, the expression of the Heavenly God... very benevolent.”

”Benevolent?” Stephen only felt a dizziness in his brain, as if he had a bizarre association with this word.

Ritter frowned and continued: ”At least, that’s what the report says. Moreover, the opponents are using all Mechas that have been modified from the Army’s new generation of standard single soldier Mechas [Mad Dragon], on the surface, the modification traces are heavy.”

”Isn’t the Mythical Army equipped with [Vajra]? How could they be using the Army’s [Mad Dragon] that haven’t even begun being outfitted yet? Moreover, these Mecha modifications are very complex. Who can arm two regiments outside of our line of sight?” Ritter put down the report in his hand, puzzled, and asked.

”Someone can!” Stephen hesitated for a long while, seemingly awakening suddenly: ”My father, who personally controls the Royal Logistics Headquarters, along with those retired Mythical Army soldiers belonging to the logistics department!”

”Many years ago, when I was young, I visited that unnecessary Royal Logistics Headquarters, solely maintained for idling personnel. In the conference room there, there was such a symbol!” Stephen’s face turned livid: ”As a child, I could clearly distinguish between ferocity and benevolence!”

Ritter suddenly realized, connecting these conditions, even an idiot would understand what happened! No wonder retired soldiers of the Mythical Army could only enter the Royal Logistics Headquarters, only live and work in Tanville!

”What now?”

”Stop them!” Stephen said decisively: ”Immediately order the 108 Armored Division and the Sixty-second Infantry Division to cooperate with the 39th Division to surround and annihilate this force! We absolutely cannot let them get close to Abnosk! Order the air force to drop our total reserve force at the prison immediately! Order Klatch to have his troops move towards the prison immediately, now is the time for him to show loyalty! If he keeps his forces 30 kilometers away from Abnosk, I’ll make him understand what the cost means!”

Stephen stared at Ritter, enunciating each word: ”By now, without any news, Bruce must have run into trouble! We must absolutely not let that person get out alive!”!

Watching George’s transport ship lose power and fall into the atmosphere, Reinhardt’s face showed no trace of emotion. George’s ship had not turned into a fireball as expected, but that was only a matter of time. The atmosphere would soon make this powerless, free-falling metal eventually become a fireball.

Reinhardt just quietly watched.

As if that fatal volley was not ordered by him, as if he was merely an observer, forever watching the rise and fall of powers within the Empire from an outsider’s perspective.

How long has this life lasted for me? Ten years, or fifteen years?

Adhering to one person’s will, forever suppressing his ambitions and emotions, forever disguising himself as an observer of the Empire, forever hiding a secret, and carrying this heavy secret through life painfully!

Now, this is my last time observing!

The Crown Prince, from now on, has disappeared before my eyes!

Reinhardt smiled slightly, his smile still as gentle as a spring breeze: ”My dear brother, that position was always mine!”

In this world, besides Emperor James, and Reinhardt’s mother, no one knows that Reinhardt is merely a result of a woman’s betrayal, and a man’s reckless drunken act!
