Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 285: Volume 4 Chapter 46: Pincer Attack from Front and Rear

The news of Tian Xingjian’s mutual destruction with the enemy was simultaneously transmitted back from several hidden intel lines within the Gazalin Empire’s government and military.

The intelligence detailed the spaceship explosion that occurred at Abnosk Prison, accompanied by confirmations from some nobles who had escaped from Abnosk Prison.

When the high-ranking members of the Federation received this intel, everyone was stunned! This news was undoubtedly a calamity for the Federation! After all, announcing to the public that Federation Hero Tian Xingjian had perished alongside the enemy just after capturing the Emperor is an unbearable tragedy for the whole Federation!

To all the high-ranking individuals, this somewhat erratic Fatty, despite having questionable character, being lecherous and cowardly, was truly a lucky star for the Federation! One could say this key figure always saved the Leray Federation at the critical moment.

He prevented New Rome from falling into enemy hands, he enabled the Federation Government to reap infinite benefits from the return of over two hundred POWs, he saw through Russell’s first plan, avoiding a fatal mistake by the Military Department and President’s Office during Miloke’s counterattack, he saw through Russell’s second plan, completely reversing the entire situation in Miloke! He rescued Russell, letting the people of the Leray Federation see hope for victory for the first time.

Now, again, during the confrontation between the Desic Empire and the Federation at the stalemate in Lucerne, with the opposition proposing a deceitful peace, he captured James!

Now, he sacrificed himself, like a tragic movie, falling just as dawn arrives. The hero image built by the military and president was just erected, only to turn into a memorial that people cherish.

Who would appear on the ongoing broadcast of the ”Hero” program, using Tian Xingjian’s brilliant exploits as a background, pointing to his portrait to inform the public that he has been honored?

This news is unacceptable, whether for the high-ranking members or the citizens!

It’s too damn tragic!

President Hamilton urgently convened a think tank to study countermeasures and decided to temporarily block the news.

”Pressure Lucerne, block logistical supplies, amass troops at Little Pyrenees Jump Point.” Russell stood in front of the interstellar map, extremely solemnly issuing commands sentence by sentence: ”Deploy Special Forces, delve into Mezrich! Find that guy and bring him back for me!”

”Hamid, immediately contact Sanjad, the Freedom Front should launch a full-scale campaign, pin down the enemy, and gather intelligence for the deployed forces! This must be that cunning Fatty’s trick of escape, I don’t believe he’s just died like this!”

”Where the hell did this army come from?!”

Heading east all the way, Tian Xingjian, temporarily rid of the Mythical Army, didn’t expect another armored unit to appear on [Logic]’s radar, blocking the Mixed Army’s advance route. Meanwhile, behind him, the Miracle Army, resembling a rabid dog without its master, was desperately expanding its search range. Evidently, Zola hadn’t given up like the Mythical Army; in his mind, James was the entire reason for his and the Miracle Army’s existence!

Ahead, thousands of Mechas were slowly approaching, and the Miracle Army behind would surely find traces among the actions of hundreds of Mechas! Once they entered the jungle behind the processing workshop, nothing could escape from Zola, that old fox! It was only a matter of time!

”Haha...” Bonnie, who had just cried, looked at the Mecha radar display and couldn’t help but laugh silently.

Perhaps, this was the epitome of joy turning to sorrow. Just moments ago, the complacent Fatty was utterly confused by this Mecha unit that arrived neither early nor late but precisely when he needed to quickly disengage.

Although the Mythical Army had already disengaged from the Miracle Army, they hadn’t gone far. As soon as the Mixed Army was exposed to enemies in front and rear, they would immediately turn and pounce. By then, even holding James wouldn’t be of much use. After all, the only person who truly cared about James was Zola, and he couldn’t be provoked too much — this man was prone to mutual destruction at the drop of a hat, and Fatty’s attempt to escape earlier might have already angered him.

Now it seemed that the only solution was to restart the communicator between James and Zola to use the Miracle Army to block the front team’s discovery of their trail. However, Fatty was very reluctant to let Zola regain control of his whereabouts; it was extremely adverse for his thorough concealment and safe return to the Federation.

Especially, the guy trailing behind was a rabid dog who was always shouting for mutual destruction. Fatty had no doubt that if Zola found James unattainable, he would launch the craziest attack immediately.

Bonnie laughed cheerfully at Tian Xingjian; she suddenly felt she had lost her composure but was quite happy. The life in the Mythical Army, and the days spent with Reinhardt had transformed a naive and innocent little girl into a military officer who maintained constant calm and wisdom. But now, just seeing this annoying Fatty flustered made Bonnie extremely happy.

”How are you planning to perform another trick this time, Mr. Magician?” Bonnie said slowly.

Fatty glared at Bonnie, suddenly thinking that this excessively beautiful woman, stripped of that hard shell, was much more detestable than before.
