Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 269: Original text: Volume 4 Chapter 40 Interception (2) Former Legion Commander

The soldiers led by Glarenz were all elite forces freshly withdrawn from the Lucerne battlefield. This Army Armored Group knew how to defend Rotersk City, besieged by heavy forces from the Leray Federation, and they also knew how to swiftly attack a prison.

Their movements were very rapid. Under the electronic attack cover of four [Elements], three hundred [Holy Armor 22], eleven [Three-headed Dogs] medium-sized mechas, six [Poison Insects] medium-sized mechas, and two [Fierce Beast II] heavy mechas divided into three groups, quickly crossed the abandoned farm ahead, and launched a surprise attack on the prison’s north side through the breach in the isolation net created by the Freedom Front’s initial attack.

These elite warriors formed a conical assault formation, with each mecha knowing its precise position. They moved with clean and efficient steps, each mecha’s movement perfectly coordinated, forming a solid steel cone that advanced rapidly forward.

When hundreds of mechas, weighing between ten to eighty tons, launched a surprise attack at speeds exceeding eighty kilometers per hour, the whole earth trembled. Only one word could describe these mechas that had just withdrawn from a bloody battlefield and launched a surprise attack: fierce!

Watching this imposing group charge, Glarenz had no doubt that his soldiers would swiftly take over the prison, which showed no signs of defense in front of them, thereby revealing what had happened in this quiet prison.

More than ten solid isolation nets occupied nearly two kilometers of flat land, but before the mechas, they were fragile. The mechas charged fiercely like a sharp knife cutting through the fragile fishnet, and this fishnet had already been damaged.

The vanguard of the mechas had already broken through the last isolation net. In front of them, there was nothing except the two watchtowers hundreds of meters apart on both sides and the massive prison dormitory.

Glarenz raised his eyebrows; the smooth progress of the initial operation made him relax. He pressed the communication button to issue subsequent orders when suddenly, a light ”beep!” sounded in his headset.

Glarenz’s smile froze. The regional communication channel on the mechas, which had just resumed not long ago, fell silent again.

”Zzzla!”, the mechanical computer stopped working, the radar showed static, and all electronic devices struggled in a strong electromagnetic field, making crackling sounds. That damned powerful interference source started working again, and the low-power electronic countermeasure devices on the four [Elements] were suppressed without any response.

Thorough and straightforward suppression made Glarenz sense a hint of conspiracy.

He suddenly looked up...

”BOOM!” A loud explosion sent the three leading mechas flying into the sky unexpectedly. The flames, through the cockpit window, lit up Glarenz’s face with a red glow.

Mecha landmine! Glarenz desperately manipulated his mecha to raise its arms, trying to withdraw his squad from the trap.

”BOOM!...BOOM!...BOOM!”

It was too late. Consecutive, increasingly fierce explosions extended backward from the first explosion point, like a furious Fire Dragon raising its massive body.

Chain mines...Glarenz watched in despair at everything happening in front of him; he couldn’t believe his eyes. Amid the sky-high explosions, he could still clearly see several reconnaissance mechas standing dumbly beyond the isolation net.

”BOOM!” An energy bullet exploded on the ground behind Glarenz, the flying soil hitting the mecha with crackling sounds.

Glarenz turned back in dismay.

”Enemy attack!” A panicked and shrill cry sounded beside his ear.

”Come here, darling, Little James. Put on this vest I made for you,” Fatty said kindly, holding a yellow vest.

”Who are you?” James stared at the Fatty who could determine his life or death, unable to believe he had fallen to this point. And that such a Fatty could make him feel powerless and weak. Thus, he had to confront this person, using his authority and every means to suppress him.

”SMACK!” Fatty slapped James on the face and said with a smile, ”Damn it, you were sitting in the fighting arena watching me fight just now, and now you forget so quickly, ungrateful brat!”

James put away his authority. Though he couldn’t understand how he, who had ruled Gazalin for decades, who could manipulate everyone, who was wealthy and commanded an army, ended up being bullied by a Fatty without a care. He realized the person in front of him was absolutely unconventional. He didn’t care about authority; he was a lunatic, impossible to influence with normal thinking. To avoid suffering, it was better to do as he said.

”That’s the way,” Fatty contentedly helped James put on the vest, like a kind mother fastening the buttons, then...connecting the wires and turning on the switch: ”See, fits perfectly. I even embroidered a little deer for you. It’s cute. But...” Fatty’s smile was indeed very lascivious: ”Don’t try to take it off; you’re too young to know how to take off clothes, or you’ll hurt yourself.”
