Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 254: Volume 4, Chapter 32, Betrayal (12)_2

Watching helplessly as these mercenaries of unknown origins suddenly launch an attack, disrupting the plan, the leaders are anxious. At this moment, they have no idea how much military force has increased inside the prison, how Fatty’s operation is going in the cellblock, or how the Imperial Army will react to the mercenaries’ attack.

Especially since this situation arose before the Electronic Attack Camp had even started their assault, catching the leaders completely off guard.

Shortly afterward, messages came in from various squads preparing to launch strikes on Tanville, indicating large-scale movements by the Tanville garrison. Suddenly, a transport fleet appeared in the skies over Tanville, deploying entire regiment-sized armored units. Out of the thirty-plus predetermined targets, only six could barely proceed with the mission, while the other squads could not get close to their targets at all. The entire Tanville was in chaos.

Although neither the airborne troops nor the ground garrison initiated actions against the Freedom Front, the three leaders decided to halt the planned main assault. This suddenly appearing airdrop unit was enough to change any outcome! After emergency deliberation, they could only decide to temporarily halt actions and conceal their main force until the situation in Tanville became clear.

At this time, fierce gunfire was heard again in the area less than a kilometer between the prison fighting arena and the cellblock. It was definitely not a sound that could be made by two companies of Freedom Fighters, and the feedback confirmed this. Two or three units were fighting a hard-to-resolve battle around the fighting arena, where two attacked and one defended.

The Freedom Front fell into confusion and silence. What exactly is the Gazalin Empire Army doing?

Bruce’s operation was very smooth. Colin and Beilu resolutely executed Stephen’s orders, inciting a riot in the cellblock, giving him the opportunity to thoroughly take control of the uncontrollable prison guard forces.

Without his orders, no one could leave that most secure cellblock building in all of the Gazalin. All the guards were locked inside, while those outside were dealt with. Bruce left a squad of soldiers to handle security and communication. Then, he led the rest of the Special Security Force to begin their assault on the fighting arena.

The battle quickly erupted. The Mythical Army soldiers, already dissatisfied with the Royal Investigation Bureau, immediately issued a warning when they saw large groups of Investigation Bureau guards approaching the fighting arena and reported the situation to Bonnie.

To be honest, Bonnie never expected Bruce to launch a coup. She thought the conflict was a misunderstanding or unclear security procedures between subordinates and the Investigation Bureau. So, when she received the report, her first reaction was to dial Bruce’s phone.

Bruce explained that he received orders from his father to mobilize the Security Force to reinforce the defenses around the fighting arena. Bonnie hesitated slightly and decided to consult James. At the same time, the perimeter soldiers of the Mythical Army had already been attacked. The troops belonging to Bruce swiftly launched an attack, intending to forcefully break through the middle.

No one expected the coup to start like this. The Mythical Army, the early-arriving Army responsible for defense, and a small number of prison guards were plunged into chaos. Five minutes after the battle began, some people didn’t even know what was happening! There were no fortifications or systematic defenses; this was the core of the entire defense system. All security layouts were designed for peripheral support, and nobody expected the attack to start directly from here.

The authority of the Mythical Army, their disdain for the Investigation Bureau, and the soldiers’ experience saved them. After the sudden attack, the Mythical Army, who never takes losses, immediately launched modified Vajra mecha into battle. They didn’t care why the Investigation Bureau was attacking; they just knew that these guys were courting death!

Soon after, the Army and guards were quickly organized, establishing interception points to assist the Mythical Army mecha in combat.

As the engagement took place in an open area, the battle quickly fell into its most intense state upon gunfire exchange. Streams of soldiers fell like wheat cut by a harvester, and the limited number of mecha on both sides swiftly entangled in a deadly struggle in the web of firepower above.

Although the Mythical Army only had one company, dealing with these Investigation Bureau rookies was too easy for them. The performance of the modified Vajra was pushed to its extreme, with high-speed movements and dodging under artillery fire astonishing the Investigation Bureau soldiers. This was their first time witnessing how the legendary Mythical Army fought.

Relying on the Mythical Army’s mecha, the defenders once gained the upper hand. However, as a group of mysterious mercenaries joined the fray, this advantage quickly disappeared. Bonnie had to deploy most of the mecha to withstand the mercenaries’ assault under the dilemma of being attacked from front and rear.

The mercenaries, with hundreds of mecha, displayed formidable combat power. Their modified firepower systems fired dense volleys, keeping the defending forces pinned. Watching the sturdy defensive armor of the Vajra and the decoy missiles repeatedly neutralizing dangers, Bonnie suddenly recalled Fatty. If not for his modifications to the Vajra, the Mythical Army would now be forced to rely on old-style Demon Tiger mecha in combat.

And in such an absolute disadvantageous situation, using a company of Demon Tigers without long-range fire suppression ability to defend would be a suicide mission!

Bonnie glanced at the communication team trying to urgently contact the SkyNet system and decided to find James first.

”Do you think they can win?” James sat atop the luxurious stands of the fighting arena, playing with a silver antique wine cup in his hand, staring dazedly at the battle outside the window.

”Your Majesty, the Mythical Army is already on its way now!” Philip’s voice remained calm, composed, and unhurried.

”Very good, it’s really interesting.” James smiled slightly, turning his head to Philip and saying, ”My two sons have finally grown up. They are impatiently wanting to show their strength and test their claws!”

Philip lowered his head, fully understanding how angry the seemingly calm Gazalin Emperor truly was. Having gained power through betrayal, he had a fatal weakness: betrayal! He could not tolerate anyone betraying him; not Russell, nor his two sons! In James’s dictionary, there were no words like ”a tiger, though cruel, will not eat its cubs.”

Especially when the two little tigers showed their claws, this father would unhesitatingly see them as his enemies!

”I can’t wait either. I really want to see, how much of my skills they have learned!” James’s face was dark, the silver wine cup in his hand misshapen. He still couldn’t believe his two sons would betray him.

Philip sneaked a glance at James, pulling a sinister smile at the corner of his mouth.

This emperor, rare in letting his guard down and indulging in a savage delight, was unaware that his two sons had airdropped several divisions of troops throughout Mezrich. The Imperial Palace was under attack right now.

He also did not know that almost everyone had betrayed him.

”Your Majesty, Colonel Bonnie requests an audience.” The voice of an aide came from the doorway.
