Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 262: Volume 4, Chapter 36 I Surrender

”They’ve broken through?” Fatty asked in disbelief, ”Are you saying they actually broke through under these circumstances?”

”Yes, sir.”

Fatty murmured in astonishment, ”Could it be that the saying about getting interrupted at the climax causing impotence is false?”

”Or that a last-minute pause makes one even stronger?”

”Or that a rapist seeing another rapist trying to steal his food will unleash more strength?”

”Damn it, I’ll make sure he can’t even get it done with his pants down! Tell everyone, grab your gear! Assemble!” Fatty stood up with a fierce determination, and strode towards the Mecha dock in the transport ship.

There, his beloved Logic, which he hadn’t seen for a long time, awaited him.

And in the fighting arena, his beloved woman waited.

***********************************************

The sound of fierce exchanges of fire grew closer to the fighting arena. Bonnie was busy directing the battle, while James seemed as calm as ever.

Philip’s fingers left the tracker hidden in his pocket. Like the one James had, it was a signal for Reinhardt. As soon as Reinhardt stopped receiving his signal, it would be the moment for him to arrive and turn everything to ashes.

The gunfire and explosions outside the luxury box doors were like a beautiful symphony. The thought of the Morton family perishing at his hands sent shivers of excitement through Philip.

This moment, he had waited too long for!

As a descendant of the former Nademick Dynasty, Philip felt he hadn’t experienced a day of happiness since he was aware of himself!

That super empire spanning dozens of Star Systems had fallen due to the Morton family’s betrayal! Democracy had always been the excuse for betrayal. The six countries in this region, including the Leray Federation and the Desic Empire, originally didn’t exist! They all rose from the ruins of the Nademick Dynasty.

They stood on the corpse of the Nademick Dynasty!

But the bloodline of the dynasty could never be severed. They would never imagine that in this world, there was still a surviving remnant like himself!

Among all the traitors, the Morton family was the most unforgivable! They were once the guardians of the Nademick Dynasty and had the most unreserved trust!

But at the most critical moment, it was their betrayal that led to the complete downfall of the Nademick Dynasty!

It was also them, the once protectors, the most trusted by the Royal Family, who personally slaughtered thousands of people with blood ties to the Nademick Royal Family! They were fiercer than those rebels waving the flag of freedom and democracy!

And now, this family would fall in almost the same manner under his orchestration!

This was all far too perfect!

Originally, he didn’t need Reinhardt to bring troops here! He didn’t need to share this moment with anyone.

But he didn’t expect that old fox James to harbor secrets even he didn’t know.

Having learned of them, he couldn’t allow James any chance whatsoever!

He had to utterly destroy him!

Moreover, the relationship between Reinhardt and the Morton family was just a repeat of the Morton family and the Nademick Royal Family!

Perfection remained.

”Bang.” The quiet room’s door was suddenly thrown open, crashing against the wall with a loud noise.

A guard, with a bleeding shoulder, leaned against the door, trying to control the rebounding door, and shouted urgently, ”Your Majesty, the rebels have broken through, Commander Bonnie requests immediate evacuation!”

”Evacuate?” Philip almost laughed aloud. In such a situation, was there even a place to evacuate to?

”Yes!” The guard’s wound evidently caused him great pain, and his voice trembled slightly, ”The commander is establishing a blocking position to gather the soldiers. Right now, in the northwest direction, the rebels are under attack from our reinforcements, showing signs of retreat. The commander believes we can break out from there!”

”Break out? Are you saying, with just hundreds of soldiers, we are to break out from the front with thousands of unarmed nobles?” Philip thought Bonnie was simply mad.

”No, no one else, we can only take Your Majesty... and you.” The soldier swallowed hard; his instructions didn’t include this guy who always interjected ahead of the Emperor.

”Very well.” James smiled faintly, ”Let’s go.”

”But, Your Majesty, the so-called reinforcements are just a bunch of prisoners!” Philip didn’t want to see James escaping unscathed. What he wished for most was to have James stay in the room until Reinhardt’s arrival or a bullet pierced his skull!

”I’ve decided.” James looked at Philip and said flatly.

”We...” Philip swallowed his words. He knew this Emperor, who never cared about others, wouldn’t give a damn about the lives in the fighting arena!

Should he advocate standing ground, James would certainly order without hesitation: ”You stay, I go.”

The two followed the guard down the stairs. The pillars around the oval fighting arena were already filled with exchanges of fire. Gunshots were so close. Bonnie, piloting a fiery red Mika human-shaped Mecha, stood out like a bright beacon amid a group of Vajra units.

”Your Majesty, the situation is critical. We must leave before the rebels break through our last defense line.” Bonnie’s voice remained calm. After speaking, she pulled a lever, and Mika’s body gracefully turned like a cat in the dark: ”Right now there’s still a big threat from the northwest. We must first head north, pass through the laundry room, then turn west, ensuring we don’t expose ourselves too much to enemy fire.”
