Armed Train in the Apocalypse

At a distance of three kilometers, the three tanks and the armored train just happened to miss each other.

One heading north, the other south.

As the clanging sound faded into the distance, Zhao Kuo’s expression was slightly severe.

The monk can run away, but the temple cannot. First capture these scattered ones outside, then go find the train later.

It must be foolproof.

After a moment, the tank caught up with Tong Zizhan and the others who had set off earlier.

Through the ”god’s perspective” ability of a team member, he saw Tong Zizhan and the others hiding inside a building, shocked, further confirming his suspicion.

Earlier in Hongyi City, considering Mr. Shu’s advice, he pretended not to see the two.

One was probing, the other concealing.

Clearly, a fool from the Deep Blue Data, thinking he was well hidden.

Inside the building, Gao Yuan’s face showed shock, ”It really is Black Kite, how did they accelerate?”

Tong Zizhan opened his mouth, looking toward the direction of the train that missed Black Kite, completely puzzled.

What exactly is Black Kite’s mission target?

Is it really not the armored train?

”Tong, are they...”

Gao Yuan’s voice startled Tong Zizhan awake.

The direction Black Kite headed is where the company’s investigation team is, isn’t it?!

”Boom——”

The sudden sound of an explosion made Tong Zizhan’s eyelids twitch violently.

They’re fighting!

What the hell is going on?!

The battle in the distance grew fiercer, leaving Tong Zizhan completely befuddled.

Did Black Kite travel all the way to the Acid Rain Zone just to fight the company’s investigation team?

Something’s not right. If they weren’t the first to arrive, why would the company send out an investigation team? What’s the reason...

’Silencing?’

A thought popped up.

Liu Ming cautiously approached, seeing Lieutenant Tong’s face turning from green to purple, feeling something was off.

Cautiously asking, ”Captain, should we still go?”

Tong Zizhan took a deep breath and said through gritted teeth, ”No, it has nothing to do with our armored train, return to the train!”

...

The people inside the train also fell into silence.

Xiaozhao asked below, ”Conductor, do we still need to deploy the drones?”

Su Huan looked at the last footage transmitted by the drones before they were shot down, showing a man in an exoskeleton sprinting forward, the rain curtain around him turned into mist by the high-speed airflow, forming an arc-like streamlined cover like the head of a bullet train.

Just judging by the power and speed displayed, he indeed seemed to be of second-tier strength.

Su Huan pinched his chin, ”No need, prepare to return.”

”Yes!”

The train decelerated, lowered its tracks, and began to turn around.

Standing inside, one could hardly feel any jolts; it has to be said that Vice President Deng’s modified suspension was indeed excellent.

”This group of people, they’re not easy to deal with.”

He Jie slowly uttered these words.

Su Huan raised the corner of his mouth slightly.

Of course, he knew.

He even knew that the figures facing the man in the exoskeleton in the footage should be the Deep Blue Data’s investigation team.

Although he didn’t know how they got tangled up, from Tong Zizhan’s expression, there seemed to be some misunderstanding.

But what does that have to do with him?

He came out just to test the effects of the armored train’s upgrades, and now that goal was achieved.

That was enough.

The train turned and sped toward the base.

If the armored train was baffled, then the Deep Blue Data investigation squad was utterly shattered.

They couldn’t figure out when they became such enemies.

With just one encounter, a member of the Steel Council in the team was taken out.

The team member responsible for containment was also struggling under the pursuit of the second-tier ”Flesh-Colony Armor”.

In reality, no matter how certain they were about their previous speculations...

When it came to actual fighting, both sides felt a bit off.

But since the fight had started, neither side could stop unless one was completely defeated.

”This is not the target.”

A cold male voice drifted over the earpiece.

”Neither is this side.”

”No.”

One report after another converged on her, making HT-426 furrow her delicate eyebrows.

Suddenly, a thunderous whistle sounded behind her, like the rumble of a whale in a storm, steady and majestic.

HT-426’s resolve strengthened once more.

”The armored train is here to rescue them. Split them up; don’t let them join forces.”

”Received!”

The battle beneath the rain curtain grew ever more brutal.

...

The red dots on the pan-energy scan all disappeared from the screen, indicating both sides had left the train’s ten-kilometer detection range.

The train returned safely and without hindrance to the base.

Due to He Jie’s sweep, there were few high-level zombies nearby, with the only hassle being the numerous broken tracks.

On the original railway tracks, Iron-Eating Trees could be seen here and there, like motionless tigers sitting on the ground.

If it was the original armored train, it might have been a bit troublesome.

But with the now track-equipped train, maneuvering or running over them was easy.

The research personnel inside the base were already packed and ready to go.

During the time Su Huan had been out test-driving, Hushuo had led the logistics group in packing up the base.

The tiered buildings were lit brightly, with rapid footsteps sounding one after another, and everywhere you looked, you saw busy people.

Wan Hao was making the final handover with Hushuo.

”The conductor said he’s leaving you with enough mutated flora for 15,000 people to last three months, but the rest you’ll have to figure out on your own...”

Hushuo emphasized.

”The train has already left us enough mutated plants, enough to ensure a three-month material cycle.”

Wan Hao nodded solemnly, his expression complicated.

Though it was anticipated, he hadn’t expected the armored train to leave so abruptly,

Even many days ago, when the modifications weren’t complete, the crew had already been preparing for departure.
