Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”February 1, Clear”

”Even the strong have their limits, but the malice of the unknown is endless.”

Tong Zizhan and Gao Yuan returned, bringing the conductor some unexpected information.

A faction marked by an iris emblem.

Since the apocalypse, yet another matter entirely beyond Su Huan’s comprehension had arisen.

He had only heard of this faction in the Steel Council’s database, known as the Black Kite Laboratory, abbreviated as Black Kite.

But what this faction did before the apocalypse, how large it was after the apocalypse, and the fields it was involved in, he knew nothing about. Even Qu Hang’s authority at the time couldn’t access this information.

A powerful enemy is not frightening; the frightening part is the unknown enemy.

Especially those who rewrite the rules in the dark while you exhaust every means to calculate victory in the light.

This is the most disgusting.

A trace of gloom flashed in Su Huan’s eyes.

In his past life, other factions intervening in the Acid Rain Zone was already a matter of a few years later.

The true beginning of it all should have been the ”Crown Pear Project.” Before that, the entire Acid Rain Zone was almost entirely reserved for the Steel Council.

Su Huan found it hard not to speculate about the other with the greatest malice.

Were they coming for Lin Xi... or for himself?

However, the situation wasn’t too bad; Black Kite’s headquarters might be even further than Deep Blue Data, having only sent a single elite squad.

A total of twelve people, averaging a Tier One Evolver level, possibly with a Tier Two among them.

This puts pressure on the current armed train, but it’s not absolute.

Looking at the dust-covered Tong Zizhan and Gao Yuan, many speculations flashed in Su Huan’s eyes.

”Based on your predictions, where is their target?”

Gao Yuan twisted his ring nervously and replied, ”They don’t know what mission they’re executing. Their route seems to be from north to south, traveling very slowly, and they should pass by us in about ten days.”

”Passing by us?” Su Huan tugged at the corner of his mouth, his cold smile unhidden.

That means they’re coming for him!

The conductor never believes in coincidences.

”If we don’t provoke them, it shouldn’t be a big deal...”

Tong Zizhan added.

Su Huan looked at the two warmly, ”You two have worked hard, traversing hundreds of kilometers for a reconnaissance mission. Five hundred points will be issued directly, and if your information proves useful later, the armed train will provide additional compensation.”

Although these two must have reported the news to the Deep Blue Data side, he still must reward them.

Even if his company isn’t as wealthy as theirs, he must still express respect and appreciation for talent.

”It’s not hard at all, not hard at all. Every day working for the conductor fills me with hope! There’s a sense of pride in rebuilding order!”

Tong Zizhan said emotionally.

The company’s rewards don’t know when they’ll come down. Even if they do, they have to go back to claim them, but the conductor’s reward comes the same night.

The unexpected flattery even disrupted Su Huan’s train of thought.

He could only helplessly wave them off.

’What was I thinking about just now?’

...

”February 7, Heavy Rain.”

”Armed train Phase Three upgrade plan, initial completion.”

The cold blue indicator lights shone clearly and steadily in the heavy rain, the torrential acid rain washing over the iron-black watchtower, rushing through the ducts to the ground, pouring into a deep pit in the yard.

(Shun’an Station Base—Watchtower)

Su Huan stood on the watchtower of the base’s outer wall, overlooking the entire train base.

The train base had now transformed its appearance.

Besides the outermost twelve-meter-high wall, the interior was also divided into different functional zones to prevent zombies or similar entities from charging in unobstructed.

Compared to the initial spacious and modernized train manufacturing base, the current base looked more like a military fortress.

All metal surfaces were painted with protective coating, cold and dim, without the slightest reflection.

All these constructions were carried out without affecting the train upgrade schedule, and since the materials used were all available at the base, Su Huan just let Wan Hao and the factory director deal with it.

Vice President Deng was a person Su Huan intended to take away as the manufacturing group still lacked a conductor.

This time it was finally complete.

As for those experts involved in the train’s upgraded modification, if they were missed, the train would find it challenging to continue upgrading in the future with such a group.

The acid rain in the pit had gathered to a terrifying depth, and the storm seemed capable of raising waves a meter high on the hundred-meter-square pit surface.

Dirty splashes hit the edge of the pit, where it seemed some colossal beast lurked in the pitch-black waters.

Suddenly, two cold blue lights appeared from the water.

Refracted by impurities in the water, the lights spread eerily but grew increasingly bright.

Accompanied by a sound akin to a whale’s song, the water surface was abruptly broken, and a massive black steel behemoth emerged, the filthy waters flowing freely over its metallic edges. Two enhanced searchlights cut through the rain and clouds, casting aid on the walls.

Two trains, connected from the side, sat steadily on the water’s surface, providing ample buoyancy through a six-meter-wide ironwood deck at the junction.

The once muffled steam whistle now became bright and crisp as it reached the water’s surface, sending sprays of water flying.

Layer upon layer of sound waves collided with surrounding objects, eventually bouncing back to the train. The onboard system used the feedback data of sound waves to construct a three-dimensional pattern through three-dimensional reconstruction, facilitating driver observation.

”Toot toot—”

Liang Kuan sounded the whistle twice, as if activating a signal.

On the other side, He Jie on the watchtower took the cigarette in his mouth down to just a stub, turned the Iron Rain 14.5 towards the armed train floating in the heavy water pool, and pulled the trigger.
