Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”No need to warn me, Mr. Shu already told me before we left, even if we can’t capture the Genetic Primordial, we have to take you back in one piece, no complications. Otherwise, I would have crushed those two bugs when we encountered them.”

Zhao Kuo observed the HT-426 in the rearview mirror while speaking leisurely.

Only he knew how fiery the body beneath the combat suit was.

428, that profiling harlot, couldn’t compare to even a tenth of her.

Unfortunately, he only saw HT-426 in a dress once, and it was breathtakingly beautiful.

As Zhao Kuo reminisced, he suddenly felt the vehicle beneath him speed up sharply.

HT-426’s voice sounded like it was laced with ice, ”Don’t mention him in front of me, we’re not close enough for you to challenge my limits.”

Zhao Kuo raised his exoskeleton-clad hands and said helplessly, ”Alright, alright, I get it, you’re a heartless person—”

”Bang!”

The all-terrain armored vehicle directly collided with a roadside sign, but showed no sign of stopping.

As it moved forward, the rear hatch opened, and Zhao Kuo was kicked out.

”Since you’ve discovered my true self, you’ll have to catch up by running. If you can’t keep up, I’ll carry out the mission by myself.”

Three combat vehicles sped away.

Leaving Zhao Kuo standing there in shock.

He awkwardly rubbed his nose and took large strides to chase after the vehicles.

...

A ”mobile fortress” sixteen meters wide was speeding along the tracks outside Shun’an.

The tracks crushed the railbed stones as if on flat ground, and even reached speeds of 70 km/h in some flat areas.

As it passed a narrow platform, the armored train slowed down, first placing the train on the left onto the tracks, then disconnecting the two layers of ironwood in the middle, each retracting to lie flush against the car sides.

Transforming from a whole mobile fortress into two separate trains.

”Clank—clunk!”

The tracks retracted, and the wheels dropped onto the rails, causing a heavy tremor on the ground.

The train slowly accelerated, waiting for the other train to climb onto the tracks, before speeding forward, quickly breaking the 70 km/h limit.

The cockpit of the [Xuanjia] was much larger than the original cockpit, like a small lounge.

Liang Kuan’s original narrow and hard little seat had turned into a bionic spine support pod, capable of reclining flat, with all basic functions like heating, massage, ventilation, and an eye was a dome-style panoramic screen, the exterior scene vivid as life, with almost no delay or blurring.

Behind his driving seat was a tiered command station, thanks to the terrifying height of [Xuanjia], the command station had a total of three tiers.

Xiaozhao and over a dozen logistics personnel were familiarizing themselves with the various equipment and dynamic data on the consoles.

These personnel would be stationed in the cockpit in the future, their main task being to assist Liang Kuan in analyzing various information, operating drones, and communicating with other carmen.

Like the eyes of the armored train, only observing, not making decisions.

Footsteps sounded, and someone walked over from the rear car, with pressure sensors gradually lighting up in cold white, connecting all the way to the top level of the command station.

The broad shoulders of the young man’s outline were cast, with wild and unruly long hair draped over his shoulders, each strand as shiny as obsidian, gently swaying with the young man’s movements.

Beside him, Vice President Deng, with a round face, was eagerly explaining various details of the armored train.

”The tracks are made of the highest-strength titanium alloy metal, which, although inferior to Blue Steel produced by the manufacturing group in overall performance, the tracks are modular and can be replaced later. Hard metal better resists centrifugal force, and tests show that the current stage can reach 75 km/h when unloaded. If the tracks were pure Blue Steel, they should reach 80 km/h...”

”There are four main speed limitations for the train: track resistance, centrifugal resistance, power consumption, and suspension system.”

”Our suspension system in Shun’an is absolutely top-notch internationally. Without significant breakthroughs, this suspension system can remain superior for ten years.”

”Resistance is unavoidable; the key is increasing material strength to solve the problem of centrifugal resistance.”

”...”

”Material strength, right, I’ve got it.”

Although Su Huan’s gaze remained fixed on the dome-style panoramic screen above, he remembered every word Vice President Deng said.

”To maintain the integrity of the train’s head, connections are made only at the rear cabin, and they are all sealed connections, even if opening and closing in water, no water will seep in...”

Su Huan nodded approvingly.

He was most satisfied with the connection design of the two trains.

The ironwood platform between the two trains was also sealed, like a ship’s cabin.

Equivalent to an additional storage space of 6 meters (width) × 30 meters (car length + bridge connection) × 5 (height) × 50 (car quantity) for the armored train.

This large area could be utilized for many purposes.

Even if not used as a conventional storage space, it could serve as a recreational area for train personnel.

Greatly alleviating psychological pressure.

Officers of the Armed Corps also came over from the rear car.

He Jie’s loud voice was even faster than the sensor lights, ”Train chief, this combat platform is really comfy, truly worthy of an expert, and I noticed every car has reserved slots for heavy weapons, where can we find some big guns?”

Before Su Huan could express surprise, Vice President Deng interjected boldly, ”I designed this myself, we’ve got many cars, and I’ve reserved slots for various caliber artillery. Whether it’s a 155mm self-propelled howitzer or 127mm naval gun, they can all fit, just mount and fire, with no concern about recoil negation. I took that into account when designing the car frames.”
