Armed Train in the Apocalypse

To speak of more distant matters, Su Huan’s advancement to the fourth tier makes him a high-density humanoid energy bomb. Even if he doesn’t fight back, who would dare to detonate him without a death wish?

When Professor Ma reached the fourth tier, with a single thought, gravity would reverse, sending everyone skyward.

As for Xiaoba, there’s no need to say more; he could directly extract metal from the earth, turning any military base into a metal coffin.

A person like Mountain Goat, who is adept at avoiding danger, is even less likely to let you strike.

Of course, if you insist on attacking, theoretically it’s possible, considering that missiles ranging from dozens to even hundreds of kilometers have long been developed, but the practical costs are too high.

Science is a meticulous and rigorous endeavor, not something that can be solved by a single person or a small team.

It requires a large powerful entity with population, territory, resources, industry, military strength, technology, economy, system… to manage it.

But such forces are more likely to pursue the path of evolution.

Technology will inevitably decline step by step as doomsday progresses, potentially booming in certain fields, but the overall decline is unavoidable.

Subsequently, some questions about evolution were addressed.

Then the armed corps part followed He Jie for training.

On one hand, it’s to get familiar with the soldiers, to build their trust in you; on the other hand, sometimes he can’t handle it alone.

According to He Jie, a good soldier needs more than training; they must fight in order to lose their bad temper, making them submissive; otherwise, they won’t listen to you on the battlefield.

Su Huan only understood this halfway, and could only let him proceed.

After all, the armed corps is unified, with Yu Yue, Lin Jin, and others planted within, so there is no fear of it becoming He Jie’s dictatorship.

”Clap, clap—”

Su Huan clapped his hands to attract the attention of the remaining people, ”So, when you’re free, if your fighting style leans towards physical, do some physical fitness training. If it leans towards energy, work on precise control. Relying solely on absorbing Pan-energy Crystals won’t allow you to evolve even when the opportunity arises.”

”Let’s end here for today. Those with matters to report, stay behind; the rest can go about your business.”

As soon as the words fell, the train conductor’s internal and external chiefs, Yu Yue, Hu Shuo, along with Wan Hao, Old Yuan, the factory manager, Vice President Deng, and all the chief stewards stepped forward in unison.

Zap!

Su Huan’s eyelids jumped instantly, feeling that he had spoken too soon.

With so many matters to deal with, there’s no need to sleep tonight!

This is just a fledgling force; how are there so many matters?!

”Come one by one and state your matters.”

Professor Ma stood on the spot with a smile, ”I just have some maintenance updates to discuss, so you go ahead first.”

The teacher said to wait, so naturally, Xiaozhao would not step forward.

The few lab heads thought for a moment and took a step back.

Finally, the Boss stepped out first, ”I’m just reporting on the bullet workshop’s production situation and new material synthesis.”

Lao Er: ”I want to report on our combat group’s cleanup work of the base and its surroundings.”

Wan Xing: ”New drug synthesis...”

Xiaozhao: ”Database updates, spare parts consumption, map updates, etc...”

Yu Jing: ”There’s been new progress in ironwood synthesis.”

”...”

The soldiers outside were also suffering.

Today’s training target was uniformly set to match Xiaoba.

When Lin Jin was exhausted, he turned to look at Xiaoba, who was still persisting, his face slightly pale.

’Lin Jin, Lin Jin! You can’t even match the willpower of a child; how can you catch up with the train conductor?’

So he gritted his teeth and continued to persevere.

When his muscles started trembling uncontrollably, he noticed Xiaoba’s face had turned even paler, but he was still continuing.

Looking at others, Liang Kuan was currently engaging in high-load training with He Jie, appearing to be in good condition.

’Lin Jin, Lin Jin, people more gifted than you are working hard too. How can you catch up with the train conductor?’

Tightly clenching his teeth, he continued!

When his eyes became blurred, he could no longer even make out Xiaoba close by.

His body swayed, about to collapse when a hand grabbed his shoulder, a cold serum injected into his neck, and Wan Xing’s calm voice came from behind, ”Don’t push yourself if you can’t.”

Sitting there for a long time, only when the recovery serum took effect did Lin Jin feel himself coming back to life.

A huge sense of shame surged in his heart.

Wan Xing reached out a slender white finger from her wide sleeves and waved it in front of Lin Jin, only speaking when she confirmed he was back to his senses, ”The cost of the recovery serum will be deducted from your points.”

”Ah, okay.”

He replied awkwardly.

”Sister Xingzi, is it over inside?”

Xiaoba arrived in a wheelchair beside the two. Besides his hair tips wetted by sweat, the boy’s gaze remained as clear and determined as at the start.

There was no trace of distraction.

Wan Xing shook her head, ”It’ll still be a while; you should head back.”

Without any unnecessary words, she turned and returned after finishing speaking.

Xiaoba glanced at Lin Jin sitting on the ground, operated the exoskeleton to stand up, and offered the electric wheelchair.

”Get on, I’ll take you back.”

Lin Jin: ”!”

In the end, Lin Jin, without any struggle left in him, was lifted onto the wheelchair by Xiaoba. The two, after greeting He Jie, left.

When Xiaoba’s back, pushing the wheelchair, disappeared through the door, a collective sigh of relief filled the hall on the first floor.

Because the train was undergoing upgrades and modifications, everyone’s accommodation was arranged in temporary dormitories inside the train body manufacturing plant.

Sitting in the wheelchair, watching Xiaoba use metal to open up a rain shelter.

Lin Jin raised his aching fingers, a faint flame danced on them, but it extinguished before long.

His overly fatigued body affected his energy output.

Unable to resist, he asked, ”Xiaoba, how do you manage to withstand that kind of training load?”

From behind came the boy’s clear footsteps in the water, with a few ordinary tones, ”I can’t really say I endure it, it’s just that I can’t do anything but endure, so I’ve gotten used to enduring.”

Sitting in the wheelchair, Lin Jin’s breath hitched.

His hands silently clenched.

Just returning to the dormitory, he saw a small figure crawling out from inside, crying loudly as he recognized their forms from afar.

”Xiaoba... big brother, I... I thought... you didn’t want me anymore!”

The little boy cried, breathless with hiccups.

Xiaoba hurried to him, patted the little boy’s head, hugged him in his arms, and softly comforted, ”I brought you something delicious. Look at what we have here...”

Watching the two youngsters, one big and one small, Lin Jin was puzzled.

When did Xiaoba get a little brother?

After comforting the little boy, on the way pushing him back to the dorm, Xiaoba began to explain.

The boy’s voice was a bit shy, ”Well... though it’s somewhat unbelievable, this child is someone I adopted.”

”Ah?”

Lin Jin, though he was prepared, was still a bit bewildered.

Just purely bewildered.

A twelve-year-old boy adopting a five or six-year-old child?

”Was he rescued by the Steel Council back then?”

Lin Jin asked reflexively.

Xiaoba nodded, ”Hmm, he’s only four and a half, doesn’t remember much.”

”Hiss...”

Thinking about the intricate causes and effects inside, Lin Jin felt a tingling on his scalp.

The two had already arrived at Lin Jin’s dormitory door. Lin Jin, clutching the doorway, stood up, looked at Xiaoba outside the door, and asked again.

”Does the train conductor know about this matter?”

”No, so I hope you can keep it secret for now.”

Outside, the continuous drizzle continued, but the sunshine seemed to be captured within the boy’s pupils, and his tone was pleading.

…

”January 24, clear”

”The most desperate thing isn’t being drowned by water, but being drowned by endless tasks.”

…

”January 26, drizzle”

”The new field has been dry for a long time, with no sign of rain.”

…

After the train conductor’s arduous efforts, the complex affairs of the train finally began to be straightened out.

Recent progress has been achieved in two important goals.

The first is the renovation of the train manufacturing base, which needs to be transformed into a long-term station. Relying on the original security that guards against petty theft is definitely not sufficient.

However, the base area is too large and cannot be completed all at once.

This renovation also targets the core areas, incorporating parts of the residential area and the train body manufacturing center.
