Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Licking Rabbit Tianbei drew the pistol from the holster from fifty meters away and raised his hand to fire at the giant bear.

The bullet penetrated into the black fur.

Even after emptying the magazine, there was no sign of blood or anything unusual.

”Is it really dead?”

Licking Rabbit murmured.

He Jie frowned, ”It doesn’t feel like it.”

He took the assault rifle from a soldier next to him and fired at the giant bear’s limbs and joints. Like Licking Rabbit’s handgun bullets, they penetrated the fur with no reaction.

A bulky figure suddenly moved at the corner of his eye.

Liang Kuan was already walking forward with a shield.

He Jie opened his mouth, a hint of hesitation flashed in his eyes. He swallowed back the words to stop him, changed to a new magazine, and followed with a standard advancing shooting posture.

The two approached within ten meters.

Lin Jin and others on the wall held their breath, while Yu Yue looked conflicted and dared not make a sound after glancing at Su Huan.

In the distance, Mountain Goat looked at the conductor for a while, then at He Jie below, with a strange expression.

Though he didn’t understand what the conductor meant, seeing He Jie suffer made him quite amused.

After all, this old dog was so ruthless when he arrested him.

Just thinking about it made him feel a faint pain.

When He Jie and Liang Kuan were within five meters, they already sensed something was wrong. Their hair stood on end due to the stimulation from the ”battle factor.”

Amidst the wind whistling in their ears, Qu Hang’s voice came.

”It’s moving!”

The two looked up simultaneously, as the giant bear that was feigning death lifted its paw, blocking the sky.

And through the gaps in its claws, the conductor’s teasing smile was faintly visible.

’Damn! Fooled again!’ He Jie roared inwardly with grief and anger.

Every day a new trick, never the same!

But a bolt of electricity struck the giant bear before the paw’s descent.

”Bang!”

Lightning flickered, smoke and dust rose.

The bedraggled He Jie and Liang Kuan flew out of the smoke.

”Shoot! Shoot!”

Licking Rabbit shouted, pulling his throat.

Qu Hang’s sniper bullet aimed at the giant bear’s eyes, and with no wind resistance, the bullet’s trajectory was almost straight.

At the critical moment, the giant bear tilted its head, and the bullet sank into the fur on the side of its cheek.

Not even scratching the skin.

He Jie, after getting up, poured out bullets from his rifle, only to see them blocked by the bear’s fur and thick fat, cursing angrily.

”Bring me the heavy machine gun!”

Su Huan’s leisurely voice suddenly came to his ears, ”No can do, you two are dead now, just play dead obediently for me.”

He Jie froze on the spot, looking up at Su Huan, his expression twisting into a giant question mark.

What the hell is going on here?

But next to him, Liang Kuan had already exited the battlefield with his shield, finding a spot by the wall away from the original point, setting the shield against it, and pretending to be dead.

Looking at Su Huan’s smiling mouth and calm eyes, He Jie’s anger also dissipated.

He walked across the battlefield towards Liang Kuan’s direction.

Licking Rabbit, seeing their movements, was dumbfounded, ”Boss, where are you going?”

An impatient He Jie responded, ”I’m dead, don’t talk to me!”

With the loss of He Jie and Liang Kuan’s combat strength, the situation in the field became precarious. However, under the command of Licking Rabbit and Qu Hang, no soldier casualties occurred temporarily.

Off-road vehicles flipped like toys in the giant bear’s hands.

The two hundred people’s firepower was still quite fierce, but it couldn’t inflict effective damage against the Tier Two Evolution Beast.

Su Huan quietly observed the rampaging giant bear and the awkward recruits below. After a moment, he said calmly, ”Aren’t you going down to support? What are you waiting for?”

Lin Jin, Lao San, and others suddenly realized and jumped down to besiege the giant bear.

With the support of a batch of powerful evolvers, the new soldiers below immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Under the officers’ command, they began to counterattack.

However, the situation was still not optimistic.

Sitting by the wall, He Jie scratched his head, ”So it’s to train troops, you should’ve told me! Would I not cooperate?”

”Be quiet, you’re dead already.”

...

Acid Rain Zone, Hongyi City.

After leaving the armed train for two days, Tong Zizhan felt confident again.

Relying on his hiding skills and Gao Yuan’s observation ability, they almost encountered no danger throughout the hundreds of kilometers to Hongyi City.

The only difference was that previously, he only needed to record one piece of intelligence, but now he had to record two.

And based on both sides’ research progress and different understandings, he needed to make subtle adjustments.

For instance, for Deep Blue Data, just provide honest records, but some details can’t be too detailed for the armed train side, too much would give it away.

After finishing today’s records and summary, Tong Zizhan threw down his pen, sighing, ”Being undercover is really damn hard.”

Gao Yuan stood on the balcony observing outside, and not seeing a few subordinates return, he turned his ring and said, ”The key is doing double the work!”

The two were now squatting in a high-rise residential building on the outskirts of Hongyi City.

Because this building had a full twenty-eight floors, it was almost the tallest structure in the entire area, naturally becoming the best observation point.

Just when Tong Zizhan was about to speak, Gao Yuan suddenly turned around urgently, ”Did you activate your shield?”

Tong Zizhan asked puzzled, ”Always on, that’s basic etiquette.”

Gao Yuan breathed a sigh of relief, ”Good.”

”Are there people outside?” Tong Zizhan came over.

Without stepping directly onto the balcony, he slightly crouched and cautiously expanded his view.

”What position?”

”Eight o’clock direction, three all-terrain armored vehicles.”

”Where did all-terrain armored vehicles come from here?!”

”See for yourself!”

Tong Zizhan carefully adjusted his angle, catching sight of three vehicles speeding through the street. Occasionally, when facing obstruction from zombies, they were swiftly dealt with by weapons mounted on the vehicles.

Because of the advanced silencing equipment, they made almost no sound.

Like three ghosts gliding by.

”Which faction is this?”

Tong Zizhan retracted his head with a changed expression.

Gao Yuan shrugged, ”How would I know, but they seem to be heading for us.”

”They aren’t coming for us; they’re coming for this building. Fortunately, we didn’t choose the top floor, hide well.”

Quickly, three vehicles parked downstairs, and a group of people ascended the building.

Tong Zizhan was a bit relieved that Liu Ming and others were focusing on tasks elsewhere. Only he and Gao Yuan were here to scout.

The two huddled silently in the bedroom, quietly listening to footsteps approaching upstairs.

Viewed from a pan-sensory angle, this room would lead to the same conclusion as Su Huan initially did, that the room was empty, with nothing inside.

As for other advanced reconnaissance techniques, the two could avoid detection.

After all, our Deep Blue Data is top-level data, not inferior to anyone else!

Half an hour later.

The group upstairs left, and Tong Zizhan frowned.

”Why is Black Kite coming to the Acid Rain Zone instead of developing the Storm Zone?”

”Should we report this?”

Gao Yuan asked.

”Of course, Black Kite has come all the way to the Acid Rain Zone, they must have intentions!”

”Which report?”

Upon hearing this, Tong Zizhan hesitated slightly, deciding, ”Report both; after all, they came from the north. Unless we’re blind, we wouldn’t be able to miss this. The company will figure out how to handle it thereafter.”

”We might have our military ranks in the armed train raised a bit.” Gao Yuan said.

”Hiss... Let’s get over this bump first, it’s making me a bit tangled up right now.”

”Shall we report the situation with the armed train too?”

”It’s been a while since our last report; we should mention something. Remember not to talk about our promotion.”

”I’m not dumb!”

...

Armed Train, Shun’an Station Base.

With two hundred soldiers plus a group of evolvers, having consumed a hundred thousand rounds of ammo, plus several grenades and other heavy firepower, they finally managed to wear down the scarred Tier Two Giant Bear to death.

Two unlucky ones died.

This was even while leaning on the base, getting all sorts of support, and with the occasional aid of Su Huan, the pseudo Tier Two Evolver.
