Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”According to the intelligence, there are four forces in the entire Shun’an, each consisting of several hundreds to a thousand people. Among them, our target is the train manufacturing base, including the scientific personnel and factory workers.”

Su Huan displayed the map of Shun’an. Xiaozhao, in the back-end of car No.12, had already marked the location on it.

Simultaneously, some information was listed beside it.

”Do any of you have any questions?”

Su Huan asked.

The dining table habitually fell into silence.

Qu Hang, being a sniper, even a shot wouldn’t necessarily draw a fart out of him.

Mountain Goat saw that the other bosses remained silent and said nothing either.

Su Huan’s gaze swept over everyone, lightly tapping his index finger on the table, ”Feel free to discuss before the battle plan is issued.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Jin was the first to speak, puzzled, ”I understand the scientific personnel, but why the factory workers?”

Except for Xiaoba, who was similarly curious, the others at the table were silent with a smile.

Su Huan shook his head subtly within; still too young.

However, this couldn’t really blame Lin Jin.

That’s just how the social division was before the apocalypse. If one didn’t drop out of school, a person in their twenties was typically a student. Coupled with an extremely specialized societal division of labor, it’s natural to be unaware of many things.

It was Yu Yue, softly explaining on the side.

”The difficulty of training a skilled technical worker is no different from training a college student, both require an extensive amount of time and effort. The reason the train modification speed is slow is due to the lack of sufficiently mature workers. Wang He, they are merely factory workers from a single manufacturing plant and can’t handle certain situations.”

Liang Kuan nodded in rare agreement, ”Take me as an example—I am a train driver. It’s not that the train can’t run without me. Xiaoba can drive now, but he doesn’t know the ideal speed to crush through a zombie horde or how much force to exert to clear vehicles off the tracks. He needs more time to make such judgments in these complex scenarios.”

Lin Jin came to realize.

Seeing enough had been said, Su Huan timely interrupted the topic.

He continued to ask, ”Any other questions?”

”I do have a doubt,” He Jie, having mulled over it for a long time, suddenly said, ”The train manufacturing base is okay, though large. However, with more than a dozen manufacturing plants across Shun’an, the workers are not all gathered in one place, and we seem understaffed, right?”

Su Huan intertwined his fingers and brought them in front of his eyes.

He had indeed considered this issue.

Previously, he wanted to form two alternating small teams out of the core members, so for tasks like the armory, the train conductor wouldn’t have to risk disembarking himself.

With established teams, there would be more room for tactical operation.

But at that time, manpower was too tight. Even with Wan Xing, Yu Jing, and other logistics staff added, they still couldn’t form a second combat team.

Now, with He Jie and others, the shortfall in combat strength and manpower is addressed.

However, it wasn’t hard to see from the seating that the core members vaguely formed two factions.

This is beneficial for rapid combat effectiveness in the short term but detrimental to long-term team development.

He Jie and other elite soldiers possess higher combat skills, but their evolutionary potential is low. In the short term, they can outshine people like Yu Yue, but they’ll be much weaker in the later stages.

Lin Jin and others have higher potential, but their mindset and combat effectiveness are far behind those of He Jie in the short term.

If Su Huan doesn’t intervene and allows the two sides to pit against each other, he even suspects that Yu Yue’s group would be annihilated by He Jie’s.

But how to allocate these core members gives him quite a headache.

He Jie, a Tier One ”Firepower Hand,” does not need much explanation in terms of his suppressive ability with heavy firepower on the battlefield. Several battles have already demonstrated his value—one person can be equivalent to a small army. As long as there is enough ammunition, a metallic frenzy can entirely take over the battlefield.

And He Jie’s military skills are quite commendable—he could be nurtured as a commanding officer.

The downside is his irritable personality and reliance on logistics.

Another one with command ability is Little Aunt. Although her personality is soft, her decisive judgments on the battlefield make Su Huan think she can be developed.

Others are far behind the two of them.

Qu Hang and Mountain Goat have command abilities, but their evolutionary professions are too unique. Coupled with personality factors, they are talented in specific areas but unsuitable as commanders.

Among them, Qu Hang’s ability is quite special.

He’s a Tier One ”Wind Walker Archer” with a domain control ability, and his core skill is Level 3 ”Wind Gale Affinity.”

He’s also a typical good talent that was delayed by the Steel Council.

Short-range voice transmission, trajectory opening, or using wind for low-altitude gliding poses no problem. In later stages, he can even take off on the spot.

However, his abilities slightly overlap with Yu Yue, and since both are snipers, they need to be separated.

Lin Jin and Xiaoba are the two big C’s. They don’t have rich experience or support methods; they are simply fierce.

There inevitably has to be one on each side.

As for Liang Kuan, he’s a robust man that even Su Huan finds reassuring.

He’s the backbone support of the team.

Following this logic, the team was basically formed.

Su Huan thought for a moment and said, ”The manpower allocation can be adjusted gradually. Now I’ll assign the core combat members into groups: He Jie, Qu Hang, Liang Kuan, and Xiaoba as one group, with He Jie as the commander, and Yu Yue, Lin Jin, Mountain Goat, and Lao San as another group, with Yu Yue as the commander.”

Hearing this assignment, everyone was momentarily stunned.

Instinctively, they first looked at Yu Yue.

The most surprising aspect of this appointment was her.

However, after careful consideration, everyone could see some deeper meaning.

Only Yu Yue bit her lip in slight distress.

Previously, she thought she was too idle, but now she’s the busiest person on the entire train.

First the storage car manager, followed by head chef, train conductor’s secretary, and now added with the responsibility of a commander.

She didn’t refuse immediately, only because she was caught in a dilemma.
