Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Hu’s shrewd gaze swept over the two of them, and he roughly understood what was happening.

He considered and said, ”We definitely won’t harm you. What we need are skilled workers from the factory. As long as you cooperate with our actions, there will be some benefits for you afterwards.”

”Are you planning to build something?”

Hu shook his head, ”You’ll find out when you get there. The conductor didn’t tell us about this, so I can’t speak carelessly.”

Upon hearing the word ”conductor,” Wan Hao’s eyes lit up, ”You’re now under the Armed Train, is it an official organization?”

”No, the Armed Train is just a faction, a very complex one.”

Old Yuan, beside him, frowned. This explanation was as clear as mud.

However, one thing was clear: the official organization had indeed disappeared.

It’s just unknown how much kindness this ”Armed Train” actually possesses, and the name itself is quite intriguing.

The two were unsure if it was the ”train” they imagined.

Wan Hao nodded towards Lu Xiao, who was maintaining order in the distance. The way he swiftly subdued two power-type workers had left a deep impression on him, ”What is the status of such an elite warrior on the train?”

Hu’s gaze was subtle, ”Captain Lu, if you mean status, it’s okay, about the same level as me. If you’re talking about combat capabilities, they’re about the same as ordinary armed soldiers.”

Wan Hao’s eyelids fluttered, ”Then Hu Translation...”

”I’m the Chief Conductor of the Armed Train, there are four conductors like me, and there are three captains like Captain Lu. We generally only carry out auxiliary combat tasks and daily management, equivalent to middle management. The real combat tasks are completed by core members. The two who captured you earlier were core members.”

Hu explained with a smile.

This system information isn’t classified intelligence and was meant to be explained to regular passengers.

Wan Hao thought of the monster-like burly man, and his throat was parched.

Even without those armed soldiers, that one person alone could annihilate all their evolvers, with a crushing supremacy in strength and speed.

There was no room for retaliation at all.

And the other young man was even more outrageous, with metal in his hands as pliable as clay, in that moment, Wan Hao felt like the entire world was under the boy’s control.

That feeling was incredibly despairing.

If the core members were this fierce, how strong must the conductor with dual guns be?

However, Wan Hao quickly collected his emotions and started thinking about how to showcase his own value.

With the cooperation of over two thousand people, various crucial pieces of equipment were loaded onto trucks, and all personnel boarded the vehicles.

But it was far from the twenty-something buses they initially predicted.

An impressive convoy of over a hundred vehicles began moving towards the bullet train manufacturing base.

Old Yuan and Wan Hao shared a ride with He Jie, taking the lead vehicle.

On the way back, they encountered a small horde of three Tier One Skull Breakers and four Tier One Night Demons, and Wan Hao witnessed firsthand He Jie’s excellent command skills.

The leading armored vehicles formed a temporary defense line at the intersection, raising a metal barricade that connected the vehicles.

The fierce firepower of the heavy machine guns shredded the terrifying Tier One Zombies on the spot.

The crisp clangs of thick metal shells hitting the armored vehicles above made their hearts quake.

Old Yuan peeked out of the car window, his mouth bitter, ”If we had this kind of firepower back then, not so many would have died.”

Wan Hao shook his head, pointing at the soldiers fighting around the armored vehicle outside the window, ”These are professional soldiers who’ve been on the battlefield, their military caliber is fiercer than all the mercenaries I raised in South Asia. If it weren’t for some discrepancies, I’d suspect they’re regular army.”

”Look at their attack rhythm, it’s not just simple alternation, they’ve considered the different properties of each firearm.”

”Bang—”

The heavy armored vehicle’s body shook as if something heavy had hit it.

Above, He Jie’s thunderous roar echoed, ”Damn it, dare to counterattack an old man like me, push in! Push in! All troops push in!!”

Wan Hao murmured in a dazed manner, ”This conductor has quite a hot temper...”

The soldiers inside the car opened the door and rushed out. The two considered for a moment, dared not follow, and climbed up through the machine gun port on top.

Just in time to see He Jie pinning down a Tier One Skull Breaker in front of him with suppressive firepower using double guns.

The Skull Breaker with dual hammers had its chest penetrated by 12.7mm bullets, blasting bloody holes as it howled and toppled to the ground.

The armed soldiers on both sides advanced with guns, slaughtering the ordinary zombies surrounding the Skull Breaker.

He Jie tossed the heavy machine gun aside, causing a muffled sound on the roof.

Suddenly, he heard familiar sounds of disassembling gun barrels and reloading beside him, he turned his head in surprise, looking at Wan Hao who was busy, ”You know how to do this?”

Wan Hao expertly replaced the heavy machine gun ammo, ”Before the apocalypse, I traveled around the world, doing maritime business inevitably involved some of this stuff. If the conductor needs arms, I know quite a few places to get them.”

He Jie squinted, took out a cigarette from his breast pocket, rubbed it against the hot barrel, put it in his mouth and took a satisfying puff, ”Conductor? I’m not the conductor.”

He said, pointing at a Tier One Night Demon climbing a six-story building not far away.

Wan Hao and the two followed his finger and looked over, the Night Demon seemed to be struck by a heavy blow, its head shook, then its limbs went limp and it fell, smashing the small car on the ground into scrap metal.

Wan Hao’s pupils contracted, ”Sniper?!”

He instinctively turned to look, but there weren’t any buildings taller than the six-story building in the vicinity, the nearest taller building was a few kilometers away.

Two kilometers, a single deadly shot!

What kind of marksmanship is this?

”Could that be the conductor?”

He Jie sneered, exhaling a smoke ring, ”That little prick was seriously injured by the conductor from three kilometers away.”

With that, he jumped down with the newly reloaded heavy machine gun, finishing off Tier One Zombies on the ground.

”Make sure to finish them off, don’t spare the bullets. If anyone’s still carrying bullets when injured, I’ll shove them up their ass!”

”Get ready to clean up the battlefield afterwards, don’t leave anything behind!”

”...”

Leaving the two stunned on the roof.

”Seems we’ve encountered quite a formidable faction.”

Old Yuan glanced at his old comrade, whose eyes were now brimming with a fiery brilliance.

”Old Yuan, I feel our opportunity has come!”

…

Compared to He Jie’s high-profile approach, Yu Yue’s side was much quieter.

Nothing escaped her ears, no matter how slight the disturbance.

They successfully avoided various evolution beasts and zombies along the way, sniping those they couldn’t bypass from afar.

They smoothly reached the school.

However, they hit a snag during the negotiation. Besides workers, there were teachers and students at the school.

Altogether, more than a thousand people.

Unlike He Jie’s thunderous methods, she was averse to harming these ordinary people who had no enmity with them.

Yet the school was also out of resources, so as a trade-off, Yu Yue led them to obtain some resources, and the workers willingly left with her.

The sunset cast its afterglow on the dilapidated school playground, extending long shadows from the rusty basketball hoops.

Yu Yue stood beside the makeshift supply depot, watching as workers silently split the newly gathered cans and grains into two piles, one neatly arranged for the teachers and students, and the other sparsely packed into their own sacks.

”Captain Yu, these are for the kids.” The leading old worker wiped his face with his cracked hands, ”We adults can skip a few meals, but the kids are growing.”

Behind him, several young workers were stuffing the last few packs of biscuits through the classroom windows, and the lowered cheers of children immediately echoed from inside.

Yu Yue pinched her coat hem, this scene invoked a sadness without reason.

”I will get you out of here, I promise you won’t get hurt.”

The old worker smiled slyly, ”Miss, we can see you’re capable, it’s better to follow you than to stay here and compete with kids for food.”

Yu Yue looked at the resolute faces of the workers, opened her mouth futilely, unsure of what to say.

In the twilight, the workers silently climbed aboard the trucks. Yu Yue saw the children standing quietly behind the sealed windows in the rearview mirror, watching them through the gaps.

Yu Yue’s grip on the steering wheel was slightly white, and the windshield wiper discreetly cleared the suddenly blurred view.
