Chapter 1446: Ruthless Tactics

”In the name of the royal family, I, Fleeting Arbiter, will conduct a special investigation in this mansion. All people have to cooperate with this investigation.”

”What are you doing?!” The head butler of the Raymond family stood forward, trying to stop them.

The guards were also gathering, surrounding Kevin.

”Do I need to repeat myself?” Kevin’s expression turned cold.

”Watch your mouth. A mere arbiter daring to trespass on Duke Raymond’s mansion...” The head butler glared at Kevin.

”Really?” Kevin raised his right hand.

All of a sudden, several people appeared behind the guards, pointing their swords at them.

”!!!” The guard captain couldn’t help but turn his head to the side. The one leading this was Kevin, but it looked like they had brought the inquisitors. No, he even brought the highest-rank inquisitor, a platinum inquisitor. Once they reached this point, their strength was at least spirit grandmaster.

After all, the next arbiter usually came from among the platinum inquisitors.

Kevin invited one of the platinum inquisitors to make sure nothing goes wrong. He then took out another document. ”This is the official warrant. Anyone who resists will be charged with obstructing justice.”

”!!!” The head butler gritted his teeth. He had never thought someone would be insane enough to storm into the duke’s mansion. If this continued, the situation would become extremely bad.

In addition, this was Kevin Stargaze. He had been suppressed this whole time by the royal faction. How could he have the courage to come here?

Of course, this was nothing but a trap that the third princess had created.

”You...” Duke Raymond’s body shook. ”Are you crazy?”

Duke Raymond was in utter shock. Wendy just admitted that she killed the first prince.

That was right. They were so focused on the king that they forgot about the first king. Wendy should have known that her father had prepared in case something like this were to happen. Of course, it might not be used to guard against her, but the third prince.

Nevertheless, the first prince was going to be eliminated. There was no way Wendy wanted to leave any gaps for them to exploit.

’She actually killed the crown prince as well?’ Duke Raymond gritted his teeth. ”You have made a great mistake, Your Highness.”

”Do I?” Wendy smiled. ”Duke Raymond. Thank you for coming here. Since you demand an explanation, why don’t you go to your position first? I will explain everything to you.”

Duke Raymond didn’t know why, but he felt something was amiss. Wendy was simply too confident.

Then again, she must have prepared for this for so long, so it was normal for her to be confident. But there was a small clue hidden in her words.

’Why does it look like she wants me to stay here?’ Duke Raymond looked around before remembering something. She entered the hall with Duke Lorelei. ’Wait. Duke Lorelei? If he has been working under her the whole time... then, the Arbiters... No, wait!’

Duke Raymond’s heart sank. ’The Arbiters are the ones dealing with the darkness of the kingdom. Duke Lorelei is still the current strongest person among the arbiters. He is also the current head of the Arbiters.

’The reason she wants me to stay here... Don’t tell me...’ Duke Raymond turned around and said, ”I need to go back!”

”!!!” The nobles who followed him were confused.

”What’s wrong, Duke Raymond? I’m planning to give you an explanation. So why are you leaving? Or... do you think you can simply come and go as you wish before me?”

Duke Raymond realized he had been checkmated. Duke Raymond lowered his head. ”My apologies, Your Highness. Although I wish to congratulate you, I have to return first and come back with a big gift.”

Wendy simply watched him as he led the group away. No matter what he did, it was impossible for him to turn it around.

”Duke Raymond. What’s going on?” One of the nobles asked.

”You idiot. Hurry up and go back to your own mansion. They must be coming... I have underestimated that wench too much.𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

”Can’t you see everything already? She wants to keep us there because she’s using the Arbiters to seize all kinds of things from our houses!”

”!!!” The nobles were stupefied.

”How can she do that?”

”She...”

”Don’t tell me... She came with Duke Lorelei earlier... Duke Lorelei is the head of the arbiters. With his authorization, a search can be conducted even on a noble of the highest rank.”

”That’s right. The arbiters have been frozen due to their members leaving left and right. Most importantly, the remaining arbiters have been kept in check by that Kevin Stargaze.

”With the Duke in charge, Kevin Stargaze will definitely use his connections within the arbiters to conduct a large-scale investigation... and the targets are... all of us.”

The nobles were terrified. If they raided their houses, all the pieces required to take them down were there.

”The princess was actually using herself as bait to lure us here and let them launch a large-scale investigation while we were not there?”

”Not good!”

”We have to hurry!”

Unfortunately, they were too late. By the time they returned to their mansion in the capital, it had been raided cleanly.

Even the citizens were confused by the sudden operation. This was probably the first time they had used the arbiter system properly.

This time, 5 out of 8 arbiters were moving at the same time, mobilizing all the inquisitors available in the city to raid all the members of the royal faction.

Duke Lorelei was overseeing the entire operation. With this, the royal faction would be crippled.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the extent of the princess’ plan.

When Duke Raymond and the others were about to leave the castle, a middle-aged man stood in their way.

”!!!” Duke Raymond widened his eyes, recognizing this man. ”You... Marquis Nardt! How come you’re here?”

”Oh, my? Duke Raymond. The capital city is lively, isn’t it? As for why I am here, don’t you know about it the most? You guys summoned me, but I don’t think you will be the ones I will have to meet.”

Duke Raymond trembled. He finally realized how ruthless the princess was. By using her as bait, she lured them out and crippled them using the arbiters.

Meanwhile, the western lords were supposed to come here. Instead of the royal faction defeating them and absorbing their strength, the princess was actually using the western lords to absorb the royal faction instead.
