Chapter 1445: Third Princess’ Maneuver

”I need an explanation!”

Duke Raymond gritted his teeth. He had gathered all the people in the royal faction to storm inside the throne room.

Normally, it would have been their room to discuss politics, but today, all the people who were supposed to be inside the prison somehow came out and discussed things inside this room.

It was blasphemy. They should capture all these people and throw them back into the prison. No, the fact that they dared to enter this room alone was enough to send them to the execution ground.

Still, no one would expect that the person who actually freed them from the prison was someone who was supposed to be the weakest among the princes and princesses.

The third princess had been the doll of the royal family. The king often used her to act as a spy or to butter up people.

Although she had seen a lot of people, her power was low. The one they should worry about was actually the second prince because he had been steadily increasing his power.

Yet, the one throwing the country into chaos was none other than the third princess.

”You wench. How dare you do something like this!” Duke Raymond glared at her while gritting his teeth.

”Even if you are a duke, you should watch your mouth, Duke Raymond. Calling the third princess of this country a wench is the same as demeaning the royal family’s authority. Are you trying to rebel?” Wendy narrowed her eyes. The clash had finally begun, so they couldn’t turn back anymore.𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Still, this alone wouldn’t be enough if she wanted to crush Duke Raymond. Hence, she continued with a provocation. ”Even if you were my father’s tutor, acting like this would displease him.”

Duke Raymond gritted his teeth. Why bother mentioning your father? Duke Raymond had already known about the king’s death.

Although the information had been sealed for the time being, they had eyes and ears inside the palace. So, they knew Wendy had killed the king.

”Even your father won’t reprimand me with those words. You are so bold. To think you would kill your own father... I will impeach you!” Duke Raymond pointed at Wendy.

”Impeach, huh? That’s a bold statement.” Wendy’s expression turned cold, her eyes narrowing. ”In that case, let’s talk about this...”

Wendy took out several forms.

”!!!” Duke Raymond and several nobles recognized this document.

A smile appeared in Wendy’s eyes. ”Look at this, Duke Raymond. Look at you... You have embezzled a lot of funds over the years.

”I think you are betraying your own country. I wonder what I should do with you...” Wendy smiled. Now that she didn’t have to act anymore, she unleashed all the emotions that had been buried this far.

”You...” Duke Raymond didn’t expect Wendy to have it. How did she actually get it? This wasn’t something that a royal family was supposed to possess.

At the same time, the king had already known this beforehand, but he didn’t plan to act.

”Duke Raymond. I will give you one way out for everything you’ve done for this country... Retired.” Wendy’s option was basically sealing his position for good. If he backed out today, Wendy would be using everything in her possession to weaken him in the future.

That was why he couldn’t afford to lose to Wendy. Duke Raymond took out a scroll and lifted it up for everyone to see.

”Seeing the royal decree, none of you are kneeling?” Duke Raymond grinned.

”Wait. That’s...”

”Don’t tell me...”

The people on Wendy’s side seemed to have recognized what kind of royal decree it was. Duke Raymond might be corrupt, but he wasn’t a fool.

A normal royal decree wouldn’t be enough to turn the situation around. If there were one, they could think of one possible content.

He even confirmed the continent for them by turning to the marshal, who stood by on the side as usual.

”Marshal. I ordered you to capture that wench.”

Conrad stayed in his position as if he were ignoring Duke Raymond’s order.

”Are you helping her? Do you forget your oaths?” Duke Raymond was infuriated.

”You are not the monarch.” Conrad shook his head. ”I took orders only from the monarch. I won’t follow anyone’s orders, even if you are a prince or a princess. Only the rightful monarch can command me.”

”Then, see this yourself!” Duke Raymond opened the royal decree. ”The king has appointed a successor. In case anything happens to him, the first prince will replace him as the monarch, and I, Duke Raymond, shall serve the new monarch as the prime minister.

”And now, on behalf of the rightful monarch, I order you, capture her!”

”What?!” The people panicked. With this approach, Duke Raymond could definitely order Conrad. If it was not enough, he could simply drag the prince to this room and make him order Conrad.

To everyone’s surprise, Conrad remained still.

”What are you doing?” Veins bulged on Duke Raymond’s head. ”Are you rebelling?”

Conrad shook his head. ”If His Highness is really the successor, it’s only fair for me to follow the monarch. However, he is not a monarch.”

”Are you blind?!” Duke Raymond shouted at the top of his lungs.

”I should be asking you that question. You can only become a monarch if you are alive.”

”!!!” Duke Raymond’s body shook. Those words sent chills down his spine. ”What...”

Even the people in the princess’ faction didn’t know about this. They might have been so focused on the king that they forgot about all the princes and princesses.

If the king died, the throne would be inherited by the first prince. If the first prince died, it would be the second prince’s turn. But what if those two died?

All of their gazes were directed at Wendy. It would be Wendy’s turn to govern this kingdom. Of course, the eternal third prince, the king’s brother, should take it from her, but the third prince was forced to leave.

With the news about him being a demon king, the third prince lost his qualification to become the monarch.

However, this wasn’t the extent of Wendy’s plan. She might tell others she was just a normal princess, and she was good simply because the others were too bad.

However, Wendy was undermining herself. There was another reason she hid the information about the prince and let everyone focus on the king. It was to lure all these nobles into the royal palace.

Meanwhile, those who worked in the shadows could finally emerge to the surface and do their jobs.

...

Duke Raymond’s mansion.

*Bang!*

The gate was opened forcefully as Kevin Stargaze stormed inside the mansion with a lot of soldiers. ”This is the formal inspection that has been approved by the majority of arbiters.

”In the name of the royal family, I, Fleeting Arbiter, will conduct a special investigation in this mansion. All people have to cooperate with this investigation.”
