Chapter 1402: Essence Sword Technique

The inside was pretty dark. It used to have so many lights to light up the pathway, but the lights had been destroyed, leaving only an abandoned dark tunnel.

Noel and the others had to use their own power to light up the cave.

Eventually, they found a split.

The masked man sneakily let out a signal to go to the left, so Noel hurriedly said, ”I think itʼs time to split up. Will that be alright with you, Commander Oscar?”

”Sure. Thatʼll make us more efficient, Marquis.” Oscar nodded.

”In that case, weʼll take the left.” Noel smiled.

”Alright. Weʼll take the right then.”

The team split up. According to the masked man, the right one led to the main cave where they usually held their meeting, so Oscar should be more interested in seeing the place where they saw the Supreme Devil.

On the other hand, the left path led to a working area where they usually organized their documents. Of course, his office was in this path alongside the general office and even Qielʼs room.

This path was much more useful. They also needed to get the book left behind by Margaretha.

Hence, once they saw multiple doors on the side of the path, Noel raised his eyebrows and waved his hand. ”Weʼll investigate it together.”

The masked man looked surprised, but Noel assured him with a nod, telling him that Incetta could be trusted. She was one of the people who needed to know about this matter, considering Vivi was related to his ancestor.

Since that was Noelʼs decision, he had no choice but to comply and lead both of them straight to his office first.

It was located just a bit further away since he was a devil saint, an important person of the Supreme Devil Organization.

He didnʼt have to go deep into the cave.

Laufeyʼs office had been half-destroyed. Books and papers were scattered across the room.

With a brief inspection, Laufey noticed that most of the important documents had been taken away. The ones scattered around were just some not-important books.

”Is it still there?” Noel asked.

”Huh?” Incetta furrowed her eyebrows, not knowing the masked manʼs real identity.

The masked man nodded and said, ”Let me check it.”

Noel saw Laufey grabbing two books, poking three holes, and finally moving one shelf before they heard a clicking sound echoing inside the room.

”!!!” Incetta widened her eyes in shock. It was such a complex system that no one other than the owner should know. In other words, the person in front of her was actually an organization member who used to have such a thing.

With his strength, it was clear who the masked man was.

Incetta wanted to say something, but Noel must have known about this personʼs identity the whole time. The fact that she was here knowing about the truth meant it was necessary for her to know this information.

So, there was no need to say anything because Noel had understood everything.

Incettaʼs open mouth gradually closed as she chose to believe in Noelʼs decision.

Laufey walked toward his table and moved it slightly to the left as a trapdoor came into view, unlocked.

He took out a single book and a bottle of special wine. He first presented the book to Noel. ”This is the book.”

Noel furrowed his eyebrows, staring at the arrogant title.

ʼArdagan familyʼs swordsmanship.ʼ

Noel had learned about Ardagan Swordsmanship, directly taught by Ardagan. So, he wondered if this swordsmanship was actually the one he had learned prior to this.

The content of the book shocked him. There was at least 30% of the essence of Ardagan Swordsmanship. If 100% of it was known here, it would have been disastrous because the organization would know how Noel fought.

At the same time, he noticed that there was a bit of Annaʼs fighting style. Annaʼs current swordsmanship was linked to the Sword Saint.

Hence, it looked like the one writing this book intended to fuse all of them together.

The more he read the book, the more he realized how big of a genius the writer was. Margaretha actually observed the swordsmanship of her husband and her brother and interpreted it in her own way.

She took out all the complex forms, leaving only the basic forms. However, she reinforced that basic form to make them stronger.

Still, if they only learned the Ardagan swordsmanship from this book, the best they could achieve was 5% of the Ardagan swordsmanshipʼs true strength.

It was probably the same for the Sword Saintʼs swordsmanship.

However, with her interpretation, she added a few things and assimilated all of them into a single swordsmanship.

The power would at least reach 15% of the Ardagan swordsmanshipʼs true strength. It might not be high, but the difficulty of learning this swordsmanship was at least 50 times easier.

In other words, this swordsmanship was built for general soldiers, allowing them to get stronger than their competitors. At the same time, the foundation was solid, so if they were a genius, they could either develop it or get even better swordsmanship in the future.

It was such amazing swordsmanship that Noel thought it was a miracle.

Suddenly, Ardagan flashed in his vision.

[The true name of this swordsmanship is the Essence Sword Technique. She created this swordsmanship because of her inferiority complex in the beginning. She wished that this technique would allow even the untalented to achieve a considerably high-level swordsmanship. However, a few pages are missing. It looks like itʼs been ripped off… and all of them are a part of the Ardagan swordsmanship.]

”…” Noel closed his eyes for a moment before turning to Laufey. ”Did you rip the pages?”

Laufey shook his head. ”No. Itʼs always been like that.”

[Most likely, Alex has ripped the pages. If he fulfilled her wishes and let the swordsmanship spread, he must be afraid it would make his enemies grow even stronger.]

ʼFair enough.ʼ Noel sighed, noticing Laufeyʼs change of expression. ”Is there something wrong?”

While holding the wine bottle carefully, Laufey hesitated for a moment before asking, ”May I… get a bit of time alone?”

Noel realized what he wanted to do, especially with that wine bottle. He nodded his head. ”Sure. Go ahead.”
