System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1420: Suspicion

”!!!” Livia looked surprised. She lowered her gaze for a moment before asking, ”I’m sorry if I overstep my bounds, Teacher. However, may I know if you’re planning a rebellion?”

Noel shook his head without hesitation. He had made it as secretly as possible, but he could understand why Livia asked this question.

It would have created a huge mess if her teacher was known as a rebel. However, Noel assured her that he wasn’t a rebel.

”I’m not assisting anyone, nor do I have the intention of taking the throne for myself. I prefer life like this and maintain my freedom.

”However, there’s one force trying to mess with this freedom. I’m merely dealing with that force...

”You don’t have to worry. I’m not talking about the current ruler or anything. They can settle it however they like and I won’t interfere with whoever wins.”

”I see...” Livia closed her eyes. At the very least, Noel’s conscience was clear. And they also had another thing to worry about.

Livia asked, ”So, you want me to inform my father about everything? What do you wish to achieve?”

”Nothing. I just wish nothing happens.”

”Ah.” Livia finally understood. Noel had a certain degree of confidence. That was why he wanted her father to turn a blind eye to what was happening.

Normally, they wouldn’t do such a thing. But the Muivell Kingdom had gone too far, especially with the Supreme Devil Organization.

Although Noel had prepared for the incoming attack of the demon king, no one had really seen the demon king himself. The only thing they could trust was Noel’s words, but without other evidence, they didn’t know whether it was real or not.

That was why they had to remain cautious. A sudden change of monarch would have a huge impact on not only the Muivell Kingdom but all three surrounding kingdoms.

Livia pinched the bridge of her nose before nodding her head. ”I understand. I will talk to my father about this matter. However, I can’t guarantee the result.”

”Yes.” Noel nodded before turning to Rui and Melissa. ”I’m sorry for asking you two again.”

”Please use my strength however you see fit, my lord.” Rui lowered her head.

Melissa only nodded her head. Although she had been indebted to Noel, she wasn’t necessarily Noel’s subordinate. She was more like a commissioned officer.

Noel sighed. ”I don’t know if they’re going to come here or not, but without me protecting the city, this place has become so vulnerable.

”That’s why I have no choice but to ask both of you. Melissa. You have the sharpest sense here, so I’m sure you have no problem watching over the city, right?”

”Yeah. I can practically sense everyone inside the city. If they’re a troublemaker, I will just smack them in the head.” She nodded.

”Then, I’ll leave the city in your hands.” Noel turned to Rui. ”You have a different role. Right now, this city remains strong, but all the cities in this territory will face a threat it has never seen before.

”However, the target this time might not be this territory as well. For now, I want you to keep an eye on the entire territory. Howard and Incetta will be patrolling, so you might have to go in case something happens.

”Still, your real mission is to protect Tristan. Due to the current political situation, he has to leave this city. Make sure he is safe.

”If necessary, I don’t mind if you show your true strength to the enemies.”

This was a huge decision. Noel had been hiding Rui’s strength this whole time.

Only the Supreme Devil knew the Ardagan family had four spirit transcendence rank experts. So, if she was known to have Rui or even Melissa, it meant Noel had the ability to topple the kingdom easily.

Still, it didn’t matter anymore. His mother and Saintess Layla had become one, and even Duke Lorelei would be supporting this kingdom.

If they knew that the third prince and other people had also become one, other kingdoms would finally realize how grim the situation was. That was why it didn’t matter whether Rui’s strength remained hidden or not.

”Don’t worry. I’ll make sure he’s safe.” Rui nodded. Tristan might be a student for Noel, but for her, he looked like her younger brother.

Even though their ages weren’t much different, Tristan was much more knowledgeable and mature. There was a bit of fondness Rui had in her heart.

Rose couldn’t help but ask, ”When will you be leaving?”

Noel thought for a moment before raising two fingers. ”In two days. But tomorrow, I might be a bit too busy since I have to take care of all the matters in the city as well as inspect other cities, so you and Tristan will take care of all the paperwork.”

”I understand.”

Noel nodded and waved his hand. ”Alright. Dismissed then. Thank you.”

As he watched them leave, Noel couldn’t help but think about a different matter.

While he had seen the third prince multiple times, he couldn’t help but wonder who was actually the third prince. There was also the Supreme Devil.

He originally thought that the Supreme Devil was one of the commanders who had betrayed the Ardagan family in the past. He kept reincarnating or maintaining his life by using the divine artifact, but he wasn’t sure anymore.

The third prince’s growth of strength was also unnatural. The problem was the fact that the demon king was the one going to attack.

If that was the case, Noel couldn’t help but wonder who was actually the demon king. Considering a human could swallow a demon, there was a chance they actually swallowed the demon king so that the demon king could take over their bodies.

There was also the fact two demon kings fought his ancestor before, so both of them might actually be humans who had been taken over by the demon king.

Or was there something he hadn’t calculated, such as the possibility of the real demon king hidden inside the royal family?

Noel felt like he would be one step closer to the mystery in this battle.
