Chapter 1443: Forced Stop

”Please stop.”

”...” The third prince and Noel couldn’t help but halt their steps while glancing to the side, finding the marshal and the duke.

”!!!” The third prince realized what had happened when he came with Evan peacefully. It looked like the king had died.

Evan stepped forth. From the looks of it, the third prince was a demonic human. If he worked together with Noel, they could take him down. However, the marshal was the problem.

At the same time, the reason the princess sent the marshal along with him was for her own safety. While the marshal followed the monarch, and it looked like he was on her side, she couldn’t gain the full cooperation of the marshal until after her coronation.

In other words, having the marshal with her would endanger her life. That was why she sent them together to stop the commotion. But it also caused another problem... they couldn’t kill this demonic human.

Noel asked, ”Duke. He is a demonic human.”

Duke Lorelei scratched the back of his head and glanced at Conrad before saying, ”Of course, if you’re going to continue, I will help you. However, this guy is definitely not going to let us do it.

”In his eyes, there’s no demonic human or just human. As long as his body is still that of a royal family member, he will protect him.”

”But it looks like everything is done inside the city.” Noel narrowed his eyes.

The third prince was inspired by his words and immediately shouted, ”Conrad. Kill them!”

Conrad fell silent for a moment before saying, ”I’m sorry, Your Highness. Now that the monarch has passed away, I’m not obligated to follow anyone’s orders.

”However, I’m still bound by my oath. That’s why if you leave here, I will help you stop them. But if you ask me to kill them, my apologies... I can’t comply.”

Conrad answered it in a way that even Noel could understand his circumstances.

Noel took a secret glance at Duke Lorelei as the latter nodded, confirming his thought.

”I’m sorry, Marquis. I believe the situation is a bit too complicated. Besides, you have unleashed your True Spirit Body.

”Even if you want me to help you, I will have my hands full to stop this guy. And you won’t be able to defeat him.

”There’s no other choice but to let this one go.” Duke Lorelei shook his head helplessly.

”...” Noel’s expression turned dark. Duke Lorelei was willing to go through the motions if Noel decided to attack, showing his integrity. He had promised to help Noel, so he would.

However, that also meant Conrad would protect the third prince. The battle between four spirit transcendences would be much bigger than this, and the capital city might receive the impact as well.

Despite having the third prince in his sight, it looked like there was no other choice but to let him go.

Noel glared at the third prince. ”Are you sure that’s the best choice after knowing the demon he swallowed is that of the original form of the demon king?”

”!!!” Duke Lorelei widened his eyes in shock. That information alone made him want to kill the third prince. They couldn’t let a demonic human become the next demon king, and it looked like Noel’s words regarding the demon king were correct as well.

And it was proven by how much Noel struggled against the third prince despite using his True Spirit Body. Only by swallowing the demon king would they have this kind of power.

Conrad said, ”My apologies, Marquis. However, that’s impossible to do. I have two spirit oaths. The first one is basically making me the dog of the royal family. The second one is preventing me from betraying them.

”As much as I want to break that oath, even if it means destroying my own spirit link, that counts as a betrayal, so I’m not able to do it.” Conrad shook his head. He turned to the third prince. ”Your Highness. I hope you leave the capital city right now.

”Now that the monarch is gone, I can’t follow anyone before the coronation. Unfortunately for you, you have lost the chance to become a monarch, Your Highness.”

”...” Noel and the third prince were frustrated.

Noel understood that Duke Lorelei was correct. Even if they fought, the third prince would still get away. Unfortunately, there was no way for him to stop him if the third prince decided to escape.

Besides, their battle might impact the capital city if they continued. His reputation would take a huge hit once the matter was known.

”Don’t worry, Marquis. I know what to do next. Leave the rest to me... Just... please let this go.” Duke Lorelei was having a headache as well. No matter how much he wanted to prevent the third prince from escaping, they had no way to do it.

Noel clicked his tongue and sheathed his sword. The third prince was annoyed as well.

If he left, his chance of becoming the monarch was close to zero. During his escape, the matter of him being the future demon king would spread. Wendy would definitely push for the coronation and gain the leash.

At that time, she could order both Duke Lorelei and Marshal Conrad to hunt down the third prince, even if it meant joining hands with the Ardagan family.

But it looked like they had no other choice but to drop this matter.

The third prince gritted his teeth as his pupils returned to normal. ”You’re lucky today, Noel Ardagan.”

”I should be the one saying it. If not for the marshal, you would have died.” Noel narrowed his eyes.𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

”Hmph.” The third prince harrumphed and turned around, using his fastest speed to leave this place.

Meanwhile, Noel finally dropped his stance.

”Duke... Take care of the aftermath, will you?” Noel sighed.

”I know.” Duke Lorelei understood Noel’s feeling because he was also frustrated. ”Don’t worry. I know what to do after this. Thank you for the help as well, Marquis.”

Noel waved his hand. Before leaving, he passed a message. ”Well, I might not come here for the coronation. But please congratulate her on my behalf.”

”Yeah. Thank you.” Duke Lorelei nodded as he saw Noel’s figure disappearing into the distance.
