System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1417: Clue

”Do you get something?” Noel asked while looking at Anna, who was lying on the ground. She was completely exhausted after all their matches. Because of Noel’s king path, he didn’t move as much as her, so he was completely fine.

Anna let out a long sigh. ”I don’t know. Maybe, maybe not. I don’t think I’m able to grasp it in just a day. Do you mind if we have time like this again?”

”I don’t mind. The only ones who understand this are us, so having you with me will also increase the chance of me comprehending it.” Noel nodded. ”Let’s see... Now that our territory has been stabilized, I think we can do it for like an hour or two every day.”

”Really?” Anna’s eyes brightened.

”Of course.” Noel smiled. ”Though I need you to do something during the day.”

”What is it? Is the territory facing another danger?”

”Not really. This time, we’ll be on the offensive.” Noel raised one finger. ”We do have one target.”

”The third prince? If I recall, you mentioned him earlier.”

”Yeah. The third prince is going to do something that will mess up the chessboard. If I let him, I won’t be able to predict the outcome of our battle anymore.

”That’s why it will be necessary for us to stop him. Meanwhile, the royal family will be taken care of by another member of the royal family.”

Anna paused for a moment. ”Are you going to pledge your loyalty to the royal family?”

Noel shook his head. ”No. I have told you previously, right? My goal is simple freedom. In other words, I don’t want to be tied down by obligations. If I pledge my loyalty, it will chain me down here.

”I will live like this and I don’t think the third princess will stop me if I’m going to leave and explore the world.

”After all, it will be good for the royal family as well, since they will regain their control over the kingdom. While I don’t have the intention to betray this kingdom, I also don’t want to become their dog.

”That’s why I’ll maintain the current balance. The problem will be the royal family. If the third princess fails this time, I’m afraid that the situation will become unfavorable for us.”

”If she is going to take the throne, she will have to face the royal family and the third prince...” Anna closed her eyes. ”I see. Maybe this is the reason you started the rebellion, huh?”

”Yeah. At that time, I might not meet the third princess, which results in that situation. I personally believe that rebellion was not incited by me but by the royal family to frame me.” Noel nodded in agreement.

”It indeed looked that way. So, we will stop the third prince, and the third princess will take the throne. Still, they have the marshal... No, wait. Is this the reason you agree to let Duke Lorelei accompany me?”

Noel smiled.

Anna looked surprised. She realized that Noel had figured out this outcome from the beginning, and to make it a favorable engagement, he agreed to Duke Lorelei becoming a spirit transcendence. In fact, he sent his wife to ensure the completion.

This way, not only would the Duke be good to them, but he would also assist the third princess in taking the throne.

With the Duke stopping the marshal, the only thing the third princess had to do was stop the remaining nobles.

Noel mentioned earlier that the third princess was uniting the western lords. In other words, it would be the clash between the royal faction and western lords.

Because of Noel’s effort, the royal faction had been thinned out. The Tower Association couldn’t make their move this time, especially after their strength diminished with the legal battle between them and the Ardagan family.

Last but not least, the Arbiters. Anna was once part of the inquisitor and became an arbiter later. Although she had left her position due to her marrying Noel, she still understood how they operated.

And one more person understood full well the current situation of the arbiters.

There were ten Arbiters previously, but because of her, she took down one Arbiter and stole his spot before leaving. Josephine was also another arbiter, but she had left.

This meant there were only eight arbiters left. Her father was one of them, but he had been lying low the whole time.

If she took another look at the current situation, she realized that her father had been waiting for a perfect moment. In other words, her father might have influenced a few arbiters to take his side.

If she just tipped her father off with the information regarding the third princess, he could support her and ensure the success of this operation.

Anna’s expression turned solemn. ”I see. The situation is indeed special.”

”Yeah. That’s why right now, we need to find the third prince. It’s quite hard to find him, even with our current intelligence network. After all, the third prince knows every nook and corner of this kingdom better than the Supreme Devil. He could hide inside the kingdom without us knowing.

”Hence, we could only play it safe by guarding the capital. Right now, we have four spirit transcendence experts. According to the information, the third prince himself has become a spirit transcendence, but we don’t know his exact situation. There’s also a chance for this place to be attacked.

”So, I’m planning to have two spirit transcendence experts go while the other two remain here to stop any potential attacks. The Demon Banner Army can’t move right now, but they can at least stop the Supreme Devil Organization.”

”I see.” Anna smiled. ”So, we’ll have to see the situation in the next few days before choosing who will go?”

”Yeah.”

What Noel didn’t expect was that since Layla had returned, it meant Leysha had also returned. The wildest card that no one could predict was Luke Ardagan, Noel’s father.

In a brothel, a courtesan, while lying on top of a chubby merchant, heard the merchant saying, ”Ha... Business doesn’t look good. The eastern lords are growing restless. I can only move my business to the north.”
