Although the blade had stuck out from Yu Huajin’s chest, it was slightly below the heart, so she wasn’t severely hurt. This meant that Nian Yuexian had no intention of killing the woman. Otherwise, Yu Huajin would have lost her life following the attack.

This allowed Zhao Cheng to see a glimmer of hope, so he quickly pleaded with Nian Yuexian.

At the same time, he was shocked by how bold Nian Yuexian was. Be it the Grand Sky Coalition or Thousand Demon Ridge, there was internal strife, but it was always out of the public eye. No people from the same side would fight each other in broad daylight. After all, both sides had their respective laws, and Divine Ocean Realm Masters had to show some respect to each other.

The only exception was Nian Yuexian.

Over the years, she had repeatedly fought with Yu Huajin in public and made the woman suffer a lot of setbacks. It wasn’t so serious in the past. Even though Yu Huajin was defeated, she mostly felt humiliated. But this time was different. Considering how severe her injury was after the ambush, she might lose her life.

If Yu Huajin lost her life here, Nian Yuexian would be punished by the Zhou Watch.

However, Zhao Cheng wasn’t sure if Nian Yuexian even cared about it. Following Feng Wujiang’s death, the woman’s actions had become unpredictable. That was why she was known for being able to protect an entire Pass on her own.

Presently, Nian Yuexian stuck close to Yu Huajin from behind while still concealing her presence. Her weapon, the Willow Catkin, penetrated Yu Huajin’s back and stuck out of her chest. As the Spiritual Power fluctuated, Yu Huajin was in so much pain that her face contorted.

Still, she wouldn’t dare to move a muscle because the icy murderous intent coming from behind made her feel cold all over her body. She had been a cultivator for years, so she had been injured countless times. However, this was her closest encounter with death.

Whether she would live or die was up to the other party.

A metallic tang spread as a breeze whisked through them.

Nian Yuexian said in a small voice, “You shouldn’t even have thought about killing Lu Yi Ye. This should serve as a lesson to you. If you dare show up within a radius of a hundred kilometres around him, I’ll end your life.”

Despite her brief words and emotionless voice, Yu Huajin knew the woman would do that if she disobeyed her order.

She gritted her teeth and remained silent, feeling resentful and humiliated.

Nian Yuexian didn’t force the woman to respond. Upon finishing her words, she retracted the dagger and landed a kick on the woman’s back. Yu Huajin fell forward, and Zhao Cheng quickly supported her weight. When he lifted his head, he only saw a ray of light flying away rapidly.

“Are you alright, Junior Sister?” he hurriedly asked.

Yu Huajin sprayed out a mouthful of blood. Then, her head slumped to the side, and she became motionless.

A shocked Zhao Cheng quickly checked on her and discovered that she wasn’t dead. She was just so furious that she blacked out. She must have felt humiliated. After all, she was a Ninth-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master. Not only was she ambushed, but she was also threatened in such a way. Much to her dismay, she didn’t have the chance or power to counterattack. She had been a proud person all her life, so it was only natural that she found it unacceptable.

Her injury was pretty serious. It was apparent that Nian Yuexian used another move after hurting her. Although it looked like she had only been harmed by a dagger, her organs were in a mess.

Given the injury, even if Yu Huajin was still at the peak of her power, it would take her one to two months to recover, not to mention that her vitality was so much weaker than before.

There was no doubt her life wasn’t at risk, but it would probably take her at least six months to recover.

Zhao Cheng let out a sigh. Although Nian Yuexian had crossed the line, she couldn’t be blamed for doing this. Just like what she had said, the proud Yu Huajin shouldn’t even have thought about killing Lu Ye. Nian Yuexian had every reason to teach her a lesson.

Although he could dissuade Yu Huajin once, he couldn’t keep an eye on her all the time. Given his understanding of the woman, even if she was dissuaded this time, she would look for another chance in the future.

In a way, this was already the best outcome. Considering the current situation, Lu Ye must not be harmed. If he was killed, no one could save Yu Huajin.

It was just like how Nian Yuexian wouldn’t seriously end Yu Huajin’s life. If she did that, she would lose her place in the Grand Sky Coalition.

This matter was considered over. Since Yu Huajin had suffered a setback, she wouldn’t let anyone else find out about it. Zhao Cheng would keep it a secret as well, and he believed Nian Yuexian wouldn’t bring it up to anyone.

With the woman in his arms, he left the place to look for a Medical Cultivator while activating his Spiritual Power to prevent the woman’s injury from getting worse.

Several dozen kilometres away, Nian Yuexian watched everything while concealing her presence. When Zhao Cheng was out of sight, she sent someone a message. ‘I managed to dissuade her from doing that.’

When Tang Yi Feng saw her message in Grand Sky City, he felt his eyelids twitching.

Although Nian Yuexian said she had dissuaded Yu Huajin from harming Lu Ye, he knew she wasn’t such a mild-tempered person. Her way of dissuasion must be pretty violent.

Lu Ye suddenly showed up at Surging Waves Lake Pass and helped the soldiers protect the Pass. Then, he collaborated with Li Taibai of Thousand Demon Ridge to kill the great insectoids. He had showcased an incredible power and heritage. Following the incident, Elder Wan recommended that he take charge of the Pass.

Coincidentally, the previous Pass Leader, Liu Yuemei, was found dead.

Both Lu Ye and Li Taibai had some grudges against Liu Yuemei.

Considering all that, it was understandable that others had formed some speculation. Qian Wudang’s question to Lu Ye and the fact that Yu Huajin left Heavenly Gate Canyon and headed to Surging Waves Lake Pass were actions prompted by speculation.

It was the same for Zhao Cheng. To prevent Yu Huajin from making a mistake, he came all the way here to stop her.

Naturally, Tang Yi Feng wouldn’t sit back and do nothing. He couldn’t leave Grand Sky City for the time being, so he asked Nian Yuexian to do that on his behalf. Now, it seemed that the outcome was acceptable.

Lu Ye knew nothing about what was going on behind his back. This was the benefit of having more powerful people to protect him. There was a lot of hidden danger he didn’t see and was unaware of, but the Seniors would nip it in the bud without him knowing it.

Presently, he was swamped with work.

Following the epic battle, the Pass was badly damaged, so he had to deal with many things. As a Pass Leader, he had to make a lot of decisions.

Although he had never experienced all this, his Soul Clone was going through the same stuff in Dark Moon Forest Pass. He just had to observe and emulate Lin Yue.

Therefore, even though it was his first time becoming a Pass Leader, he did everything in an orderly manner. The soldiers were gratified to see how sedate he was.

In just a few days, they had mostly cleaned up the mess following the battle.

Lu Ye was seated in the hall while Yu Huang and several Ninth-Order Real Lake Realm Masters stood in front of him and reported to him about all sorts of matters. This was giving Lu Ye a headache, so he interrupted them. “How were these matters dealt with when Pass Leader Liu was still around?”

He didn’t think Liu Yuemei would personally deal with all of these matters. In that case, she wouldn’t have any time left for herself.

Yu Huang replied, “We would usually help deal with the matters. When we were done with them, we would ask Pass Leader Liu to make decisions.”

Lu Ye ordered, “Just do things like how you used to in the past. Unless there’s something only I can handle, just deal with all other matters on your own.”

Yu Huang and the others exchanged glances and responded respectfully. They had a better idea of Lu Ye’s temperament now. It seemed that the young Pass Leader wasn’t someone who refused to delegate power and loved bossing people around.

This was a good thing. After all, they were more familiar with how to handle the matters at the Pass than Lu Ye, so it’d be best if they could just deal with the stuff on their own.

Then, Yu Huang fished out a jade slip and said, “Sir, we need you to personally ask for some resources from Grand Sky City. Here’s the list.”

If cultivators needed resources to increase their powers, they could use battle points or Contribution points to purchase some items from the Vault of Providence. However, public resources needed for the Pass had to be sent from the Zhou Watch.

A lot of the defences needed repair. It would be unreasonable to ask the cultivators to use their battle points or Contribution points to purchase the Spirit Artifacts and Spirit Treasures to replace the damaged ones in the Ward Nodes.

Lu Ye had to personally ask for the resources from Grand Sky City. Other people didn’t have such a right.

After going through the list, Lu Ye furrowed his brows. “Aren’t there too few resources on the list?”

Although he had no idea how many resources were needed for the Pass, the types and amounts of items on the list were only a small number.

Yu Huang replied, “The resources we’ve listed are indeed barely enough, but it’s alright.”

“That’s not good enough. We need more resources to deal with emergencies.” Lu Ye passed the jade slip back to him. “Add more items. Increase the number by three… no, five times!”

These Real Lake Realm Masters looked at him in shock, wondering if they were asking for resources or robbing the Zhou Watch.

Yu Huang said cautiously, “Sir, the thing is, the war has been intense, so all the Passes lack resources now. Even if we make such a request, the Zhou Watch probably can’t give us so many resources.”

If they asked for too many items and the Zhou Watch refused to give the resources to them, they would be embarrassed.

There was one thing Yu Huang didn’t tell Lu Ye. When Liu Yuemei was still around, she would also make similar requests. However, since she had some connections in Heavenly Gate Canyon, she could use her power to get some subsidies.

Nevertheless, Lu Ye was significantly weaker than Liu Yuemei and had no connections in Heavenly Gate Canyon. It would be great if they were granted the items on the list. They couldn’t expect to get more items.

Lu Ye said, “This is like doing business. We can raise our prices while the other party negotiates with us. It’s up to us to make any request, and it’s up to them to decide whether they will give the resources to us.”

Yu Huang and the others exchanged glances, feeling speechless as it was their first time hearing such an analogy.

“Is there anything else?” Lu Ye asked.

They shook their heads. Initially, they had more matters to report to Lu Ye. However, since he was willing to delegate some power, they no longer needed to report the matters to him. They could deal with them on their own.

“That’s it, then. See you around.” Lu Ye waved his hand.

They left the place respectfully.

After stepping out of the hall, someone said worriedly, “Brother Yu, are we seriously going to rewrite the list according to the Pass Leader’s demand?”

Yu Huang replied, “Since the Pass Leader has said so, we have to do it as we’re told.”

The person said, “I’m worried our request will be rejected, and the repair of the defences will be delayed. Those from the Ministry of Military Supplies are a bunch of hoarders who wouldn’t easily grant resources. If they have a bad impression of us, it’ll be harder for us to ask for resources in the future.”
