There were a lot of insectoids in front of them, so the cultivators in the Pass couldn’t see the fight between Lu Ye and the enemies. They had no idea what was going on. They could only feel violent fluctuations of energy coming from the battlefield. Sometimes, they would hear the sounds of a Phoenix. They would also faintly see scarlet lights radiating through the insectoids.

Yu Huang had been wandering around different parts of the Pass to ensure everyone could work well together to defend the place. He was swamped with work. During this crisis, all of them at Surging Waves Lake Pass were united and did their best. That was because they knew that if they couldn’t solve the crisis, they would end up in a horrible state.

Yu Huang turned to look at the spot where countless insectoids had gathered, hoping that Lu Ye of the Crimson Blood Sect could persevere.

His actions allowed those from Surging Waves Lake Pass to see a glimmer of hope. However, he was only a Second-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master, so no one knew how long he could hold on.

While Yu Huang was worried, he was also puzzled as to why a Second-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master was so powerful.

He had come into contact with many Divine Ocean Realm Masters before. The previous Pass Leader, Liu Yuemei, was a Seventh-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master. But even if she were still alive, she couldn’t hold on for so long after getting surrounded by countless insectoids. Given the hostile environment, any mistake would cost the cultivator his life.

As such, Yu Huang concluded that Lu Ye was still safe thanks to the amazing Armour Golem.

As time passed, the scale of the insectoid attack became smaller. The cultivators in the Pass were relieved to find out that there were no more Divine Ocean Realm insectoids among the enemies. Even though there were still many insectoids, their defences were good enough to deal with the enemies.

As long as they persevered, victory would be within their grasp. On the other hand, Lu Ye felt he couldn’t hold on any longer.

It had been an hour since the battle started. Countless insectoids had been killed by him. He had single-handedly reduced the scale of the insectoid attack by 20 per cent. Coupled with the help from the cultivators in the Pass, the scale of the insectoid attack was only half of what they had seen in the beginning.

Lu Ye had killed most Divine Ocean Realm insectoids except for the canine insectoids.

They were cunning, and because of their small size, they could move around agilely.

After Lu Ye killed two canine insectoids, they realised it was difficult to deal with him, so they stopped tackling him head-on. They would launch sneak attacks and run away quickly, just like Ghost Cultivators who would flee after they failed to kill their targets. As they could use other insectoids as a cover-up, Lu Ye didn’t have a good way to deal with them.

Besides the first two canine insectoids he had killed, he went on to slaughter two more, but he was merely lucky.

There were at least eight more canine insectoids left. With such powerful and agile beings around, they posed a huge threat to him and Surging Waves Lake Pass.

Inside the Dragon Throne, Lu Ye was panting heavily. His hands had turned numb from all the wielding.

He had used too much of his energy after wearing the Dragon Throne for a long time. If this went on, he wouldn’t have any energy left to keep fighting, let alone sustain the Dragon Throne.

He had to come up with a way to achieve a breakthrough.

Returning to Surging Waves Lake Pass would be the best option. It was easy for him to restore his power, so he would be energetic again in a short time. However, if no one could deal with those canine insectoids during his recovery, the defences of Surging Waves Lake Pass might not be able to fend off the insectoids.

It was true that the scale of the insectoid attack had become smaller, but the defences of the Pass had also been weakened. Many reasons were behind it. The cultivators were exhausted, and the Wards were worn out after a long time of running. More importantly, they lacked manpower, so the power of the defences couldn’t be maximised.

Due to these reasons, even though the scale of the insectoid attack had become smaller, the defences of the Pass had deteriorated as well.

Therefore, the eight canine insectoids and many other insectoids still posed a huge challenge to the defence line of the Pass. Once the defence line was broken through, the cultivators in the Pass would be in danger.

Hence, he couldn’t return to the Pass.

In that case, he could only lure these canine insectoids away. Although they were more intelligent than average insectoids, they were still insectoids. Lu Ye could feel that they were resentful of him after he killed four of their companions. During this period, they had been trying to end his life. If not for the Dragon Throne’s protection, he would’ve lost his life.

After making up his mind, he turned around and flew into the distance. He expanded his Divine Ego and monitored the canine insectoids’ movements.

As expected, those canine insectoids were relentlessly running after him. They were hidden among other insectoids, waiting for a chance to strike.

Lu Ye was pleased with the outcome.

He wielded the Dragon Spine Saber and cast some fatal air blasts at the enemies. During this period, the canine insectoids would abruptly appear and bite Lu Ye before retreating. They wouldn’t give him a chance to counterattack.

Lu Ye didn’t mind it as long as they were following him. Before he left, he had to kill as many ordinary insectoids as possible.

Several dozen breaths of time later, there was nothing else in front of him as he could finally see some light. [I’ve broken through the siege!]

He was followed by a lot of insectoids. He turned around and wielded his saber. A huge red Saber Light spread and killed many insectoids.

Suddenly, his figure shook, and crackles were heard as the Dragon Throne around his body came apart and turned into countless scales, which came together and formed the ball the size of a baby’s skull again.

He took it and stuffed it into his Storage Sphere before tremblingly flying into the distance.

At the same time, he was worried. If the eight canine insectoids stopped running after him, he had to return to Surging Waves Lake Pass. In that case, he would have no choice but to go back to the Pass and recuperate.

Fortunately, what he was worried about didn’t happen.

After Lu Ye kept the Dragon Throne, he no longer exuded a savage aura. Realising that he was on his last legs, these eight canine insectoids, which had been keeping an eye on him, came after him at an incredible speed without hesitation.

Lu Ye was relieved. While flying forward at full speed, he stuffed many Spirit Pills into his mouth and consumed a drop of Soul Cleansing Water. He quickly refined them to replenish his power.

The canine insectoids could move so swiftly that even Lu Ye couldn’t outrun them. He could only bless himself with Windwalk to keep a distance from them.

During the pursuit, Lu Ye and the eight canine insectoids flew across the sky. The other insectoids could no longer keep up with them.

On the wall of the Pass, Yu Huang sensitively detected the changes in the insectoids. He didn’t feel any fluctuations of a battle. He felt his chest tightening and wondered if Lu Ye was dead.

It would be a shame if such a brilliant young cultivator was killed here.

But soon, he knew his speculation was wrong. Even though the insectoid attack had intensified, he didn’t see any Divine Ocean Realm insectoids, let alone great insectoids.

He instantly understood Lu Ye wasn’t dead, but the latter wasn’t in a favourable situation either. That was why he chose to lure the great insectoids away.

While Lu Ye was in a perilous situation, it was the same case for the Pass as well.

Without Lu Ye around, the insectoids focused on attacking the Pass. At that moment, the defence line was at risk of breaking apart.

Yu Huang growled to boost the soldiers’ morale and madly infused his Spiritual Power into a Ward to enhance its power.

Even though morale and determination were important on the battlefield, power would determine the outcome. As more and more insectoids gathered, one part of the defence line eventually came apart. Innumerable insectoids streamed through the defence line. The nearby cultivators were doing their best to fend the enemies off, but they couldn’t stop the gap from widening.

Yu Huang dashed forward, but he became injured after a moment of battle. When he saw the cultivators collapsing to the ground, he was enraged. Emboldened, he stood in front of the gap before growling and killing the enemies.

Many hideous insectoids streamed towards him, but he never backed down. Even if he had to die, he would seal the gap with his corpse.

Just as he was ready to sacrifice himself, dots of light suddenly spread across the air until he could see nothing else.

Following that, violent fluctuations of energy were emitted from the dots of light.

Yu Huang’s pupils dilated. Realising something was off, he quickly activated his Spiritual Power to protect himself.

The next second, a series of explosions was heard. Everywhere he saw was burning. Upon impact, he was sent flying away until he fell to the ground and coughed violently.

[Has Lu Yi Ye returned?]

That was the first idea that sprang into his mind, but he soon realised his speculation was wrong. Lu Ye was a Combat Cultivator, whereas the earlier move was cast by a Spell Cultivator.

[The reinforcement is here!] Yu Huang finally realised it.

He lifted his head and saw a not-so-tall figure. The person stood in the spot where he had been to close the gap of the defence line. A myriad of powerful and enormous spells were cast. Even though he was on his own, he was able to stop the insectoids from advancing further.

Yu Huang recognised that the person was an Eighth-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master from Heavenly Gate Canyon whose surname was Wan. As for his name, he had no idea.

He wiped the blood off his face and approached that person. “Elder Wan!”

While warding off the insectoids, Elder Wan asked, “The insectoid attack isn’t so serious. Why are so many of you badly injured? Didn’t Chen Xiao say there are great insectoids?”

When he penetrated through the insectoids earlier, he didn’t see any great insectoids. There wasn’t even a single Divine Ocean Realm insectoid. Considering the scale of the insectoid attack, it wouldn’t pose a serious threat to a Pass.

However, it seemed that the cultivators of Surging Waves Lake Pass had difficulty protecting the place. Also, many people were killed or injured.

“Lu Yi Ye lured away the great insectoids. He has probably killed many Divine Ocean Realm insectoids as well,” Yu Huang quickly explained.

“Lu Yi Ye?” Elder Wan arched his brows. “Lu Yi Ye of the Crimson Blood Sect?”

“I think so.”

“Where is he now?”

“I have no idea. I haven’t been able to detect his aura for a while, but I suppose he’s still alive.”

Elder Wan frowned but probed no further. He ordered, “Let’s strengthen the defence line first.”

Upon receiving the order, Yu Huang quickly told some cultivators to come over.

When the defence line was fortified, Elder Wan swung his sleeve and dashed forward.

In such a situation, Divine Ocean Realm Masters had to take the initiative to attack the enemies to maximise their advantage instead of protecting the Pass along with other cultivators.

The best defence was a good offence. The more enemies they killed, the less pressure the Pass would face.

Lu Ye, Elder Wan, Li Taibai, and Lin Yue fully understood that, and that was what they did.
