Lin Yue wouldn’t come to this place for no reason. Since she was looking for Li Taibai, she must’ve heard of some news.

It wasn’t surprising, though. It was deafening when the fight between Lu Ye and Liu Yuemei broke out. If some cultivators happened to pass by, they would’ve detected it.

Some Thousand Demon Ridge cultivators must’ve discovered the fight and informed Lin Yue about it. Since she was worried about his safety, she came to look into the matter.

There was no doubt she was a caring person, but the situation was awkward for Lu Ye. He couldn’t meet Lin Yue with this appearance. They were from different sides, after all. He wasn’t even sure if they should fight when they came into contact with each other. Under normal circumstances, he could hide somewhere and leave this place after Lin Yue was gone.

However, he was surrounded by insectoids now, so he had nowhere to hide.

He could only activate Thousand Faces and transform himself into Li Taibai. While contending with the insectoids, he put on the Red Dragon Warsuit, placed the Sword Gourd at his waist, kept the Inviolable Saber, and told Amber to get into the Spirit Beast Bag.

After a series of actions, he was surrounded by even more insectoids. Several insectoids in the Divine Ocean Realm were ready to strike.

A Sword Light flickered as the Sword Qi formed a vacuum area in an instant. The blood and broken limbs of insectoids were scattered everywhere. Lu Ye shot up and left the chasm in several breaths of time.

Somewhere nearby, a figure was besieged by many insectoids. She was none other than Lin Yue.

She was a Seventh-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master, so she was as powerful as Liu Yuemei. However, the amount and power of the insectoids this time were unlike anything she had encountered before.

This was the reason she couldn’t get into the chasm and look for Li Taibai. Fortunately, she was able to deal with them, considering her cultivation.

Upon hearing the Sword Cry, she turned her head and saw the familiar figure. She called out in elation, “Li Taibai!”

Lu Ye approached her, and they soon came together.

“Let’s go!” he said. Since he had exhausted himself, he didn’t want to stay here and slaughter these insectoids. What he had to do was to recuperate quickly.

Lin Yue obliged as they turned around and flew towards Dark Moon Forest Pass. They soon got out of the siege. Even though they were hunted down by countless insectoids, they got rid of them in a short time.

Many insectoids got in their way, but they posed no threat to the two of them.

As they flew across the sky, Lu Ye looked down and furrowed his brows. All he could see were countless insectoids in different forms. It could be said to be a large-scale insectoid attack. More and more insectoids were still streaming out of the chasm he had fled, adding to the scale of the insectoid attack.

Countless insectoid attacks had broken out in different parts of Jiu Zhou in the past two years. Those insectoids crawled out from the chasms. Also, they were sensitive to the fluctuations of Spiritual Powers. As soon as they came together, they would launch an attack against places where Humans lived.

Presently, they were somewhere between Dark Moon Forest Pass and Surging Waves Lake Pass, though it was slightly closer to the former. It was foreseeable that the insectoid attack would have a huge impact on these two Passes.

What the cultivators of the two Passes had to do was to fend off the insectoid attack and destroy these insectoids.

Lin Yue had told Thousand Demon Ridge cultivators who were outside to return. Considering the scale of the insectoid attack, no individual could ward it off, not even a Divine Ocean Realm Master. They had to stay in their Pass and rely on the defences to deal with the insectoids.

Those in Dark Moon Forest Pass had experienced that many times, so they knew how to handle the situation.

When Lin Yue was done sending messages, she finally had time to talk to Lu Ye. “Junior Brother Taibai, did you battle against Liu Yuemei earlier?”

Lu Ye knew she was going to ask that question, so he had come up with an explanation. He replied, “Yes.”

It wasn’t like he could deny it. The three of them were the only Divine Ocean Realm Masters in a radius of a thousand kilometres around this area. Some Thousand Demon Ridge cultivators discovered the fight between Divine Ocean Realm Masters and reported the incident to Lin Yue. She wasn’t a fool, so she must’ve formed some speculation. That was why she came all the way here to look for him.

Moreover, Liu Yuemei’s death needed an explanation.

Lin Yue was astonished. “Where is she?”

She had only seen Lu Ye leaving the chasm, but Liu Yuemei was nowhere to be found.

“She’s dead,” Lu Ye replied curtly.

Lin Yue was so shocked that her expression changed drastically. “How did she die?”

It wasn’t that she was friends with Liu Yuemei. It was just that both of them were Seventh-Order Divine Ocean Realm Masters, and she was even slightly weaker than Liu Yuemei. If there was something that could kill Liu Yuemei, it would pose a huge threat to her too. As such, she had to be vigilant.

Naturally, Lu Ye wouldn’t tell her he killed Liu Yuemei. She might not believe him, and even if she did, many things couldn’t be explained. That was why he came up with an excuse. “She was accidentally killed by some insectoids when we were fighting.”

Liu Yuemei was indeed killed in the chasm where many insectoids existed, so it was only apt that he shifted the blame to the insectoids.

In the past two years, quite a number of Divine Ocean Realm Masters had been killed by insectoids, and some of them were in the Eighth Order or Ninth Order. After all, there were powerful beings among the insectoids.

Lin Yue couldn’t help but fall into a dazed state.

She had been in charge of Dark Moon Forest Pass for over ten years, and it was the same case for Liu Yuemei in Surging Waves Lake Pass. Both of them were female cultivators who were around the same age and equally powerful. They had contended with each other on many occasions, so they regarded one another as rivals.

That was the reason those from Thousand Demon Ridge let Lin Yue stay in Dark Moon Forest Pass, and those from the Grand Sky Coalition let Liu Yuemei stay in Surging Waves Lake Pass. The two of them were familiar with each other’s tactics after a long time of rivalry. With the two of them in charge of their respective Passes, the people from both sides could be at ease, knowing that it was unlikely that things would go wrong.

Much to Lin Yue’s surprise, her long-time rival was dead just like that. She couldn’t help but wonder if there was any meaning to their years of rivalry at all.

On their way back, they came across no one. Those from Thousand Demon Ridge had received Lin Yue’s messages a while ago, so they quickly returned to Dark Moon Forest Pass and got ready to defend the Pass.

On the walls of the Pass, the defences were at the ready. They would slaughter the insectoids when the latter came.

“Just get some rest for now, Junior Brother Taibai. I believe it’ll take the insectoids one more day to reach this place,” Lin Yue said. She could tell that Lu Ye had exerted himself. The war was about to break out, and Lu Ye was the only Divine Ocean Realm Master working for her, so she had to treat him well.

Without a word, Lu Ye headed straight to his residence. Upon entering his room, he sat down cross-legged and stuffed some Spirit Pills into his mouth to recuperate.

Although he had no choice but to come to Dark Moon Forest Pass again, it wouldn’t be hard for him to leave following the previous experience. He just needed a chance.

However, he had another concern. He wasn’t certain if those from Surging Waves Lake Pass could fend off the insectoid attack this time.

He had killed Liu Yuemei, so it could be said that those from Surging Waves Lake Pass had no leader. Most importantly, they didn’t even know that their Pass Leader was dead.

Presently, only Cloud River Realm Masters and Real Lake Realm Masters guarded that Pass. If the insectoid attack was too severe, they might not be able to protect the Pass without a Divine Ocean Realm Master around.

Lin Yue had sent messages to her subordinates, so those Thousand Demon Ridge cultivators who were outside had returned and gotten ready to protect the Pass. On the other hand, no one gave those from Surging Waves Lake Pass a heads-up.

Although Lu Ye knew an insectoid attack was coming, he was unable to inform them about it. He could only hope that they would discover it sooner and deal with it accordingly.

All of them were fairly powerful cultivators, not kids. They couldn’t always rely on their higher-ups. They had to take up their responsibilities.

As time passed, Lu Ye’s energy was restored.

Suddenly, violent fluctuations of Spiritual Powers were felt coming from outside. There were also some buzzing sounds. The entire Pass descended into turmoil. Lu Ye hurriedly opened the door and flew towards the wall.

When he saw what was going on, he felt his heart sinking.

All he could see were innumerable insectoids crawling on the ground and flying in the sky. The insectoid attack this time was more serious than he had expected.

The nearest insectoids were only three kilometres away from them. Presently, the defences on the walls were running as attacks were cast at the insectoids following the activation of the Wards. Some vacuum areas were formed, but they were soon filled up by the insectoids.

“Deputy Pass Leader!” Some cultivators saluted Lu Ye when they saw him.

Lu Ye glanced at them and saw an anxious Ying Wuji forcing a smile.

It had been three months since the Deputy Pass Leader arrived in Dark Moon Forest Pass, and they had frequently come into contact with each other. But for some reason, Ying Wuji was always flustered whenever he met the Deputy Pass Leader.

In fact, the Deputy Pass Leader had never made things difficult for him, and they were around the same age. Ying Wuji was even slightly older. He had no idea where the invisible pressure came from. He could only blame it on the unique pressure coming from a Divine Ocean Realm Master.

“Just do your things,” Lu Ye ordered.

Relieved, they quickly joined forces to activate a Ward to use the power of the Spirit Treasure in the Ward Node.

Lin Yue showed up and smiled. “I haven’t congratulated you on ascending to the Second-Order Divine Ocean Realm, Junior Brother.”

She had already realised Lu Ye’s ascension the day before, but she never brought it up as she was concerned about the Pass’ safety.

“I’m only a Second-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master, so I’m still significantly weaker than you are, Senior Sister.” Lu Ye nodded slightly.

Lin Yue smiled helplessly. “You’ve only been a cultivator for a short time, but you’re already a Second-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master. You’ll surely surpass me in a few years. By then, I hope you won’t think my aptitude is terrible.”

“Please stop pulling my leg, Senior Sister.”

Ying Wuji and the others were busy doing their work. They wouldn’t tell anyone else about the conversation between the two Divine Ocean Realm Masters.

“What do you think about the insectoid attack this time?” Lu Ye suddenly changed the topic.

“It’s a large-scale one. It could even be said that it’s the largest insectoid attack we’ve come across in the past two years.” Lin Yue turned solemn. “If we were at the peak of our collective power, it wouldn’t be hard for us to fend off the insectoid attack. However, you’re also aware that many people have been transferred out of the Pass. Besides Dark Moon Forest Pass, it’s also the same case for the Passes on both sides. If we want to ward off the insectoid attack, the two of us have to work together.”

At the very least, they had to kill some of the Divine Ocean Realm insectoids to alleviate the pressure on the Pass.

“I understand.” Lu Ye nodded.

Lin Yue said hesitantly, “I’m not too worried about our Pass. I’m more worried about Surging Waves Lake Pass.”
