The entire place had been plagued by insectoids. Amid the swarms of insectoids hovered a massive scarlet figure. As he wielded the Dragon Spine Saber and cast huge red Saber Lights, the insectoids around him were instantly killed. Nevertheless, more insectoids would come to fill up the space around him. The same thing happened over and over again.

Insectoids were unafraid of death. Before they died, they would bite Lu Ye or use their unique powers. There were all sorts of powers. Some insectoids shaped like spiders would spew out spider silk. Some insectoids that looked like ants would eject erosive slime.

As such, the battle had been intense as all sorts of sounds were heard coming from the Dragon Throne. Moments after the battle started, the red Armour Golem was tainted with a myriad of colours.

Inside the Dragon Throne, Lu Ye expanded his Divine Ego to look for the Divine Ocean Realm insectoids among the swarms of insectoids. Whenever he discovered one, he would dash forward and kill it.

Even though there were innumerable insectoids, only those Divine Ocean Realm insectoids would pose a huge threat to the defence line of the Pass. He was on his own, after all. Even though he was wearing the Dragon Throne, he couldn’t possibly kill all of these insectoids. As such, he had to kill the most powerful insectoids so that those from the Pass would face less pressure.

He especially had to deal with the more than ten canine insectoids he had come across upon his arrival. If he couldn’t destroy them, it would be pointless regardless of how many insectoids he killed.

In a battle like this, defence became meaningless because the Dragon Throne was always attacked from all directions. He couldn’t defend himself even if he wanted to.

Therefore, he could only continuously attack the enemies and take charge of the battle. He had to kill as many insectoids as possible before he was exhausted.

His heritage was leaving him fast. During the battle, he felt as if he had become a dilapidated house that needed a lot of fixing.

Among his trump cards, Bloodrage was the least energy-consuming, and Beast Form came next. There was no doubt it required a lot of his energy to use the Dragon Throne.

When he put on the Dragon Throne, it was as if countless invisible needles jabbed into his figure to madly absorb his energy, including his Spiritual Power, vitality, and Soul Power.

It was a holistic absorption that couldn’t be stopped. It was the price to pay for using the Dragon Throne.

Fortunately for Lu Ye, since he was now a Second-Order Divine Ocean Realm Master, he had a much stronger heritage. He could hold on for a longer time.

His savage power was like a torchlight in the darkness which attracted countless insectoids to him.

During the battle, Lu Ye suddenly turned to look in a different direction, and all he saw were insectoids in a myriad of forms. But in that direction, there were some unusually powerful auras.

They were none other than the canine insectoids.

Ever since Lu Ye clashed with the insectoids, he had been searching for those canine insectoids. Now that he had found them, he wielded the Dragon Spine Saber and opened up a gap among the insectoids without hesitation. In just three breaths of time, those canine insectoids, which were hidden among the insectoids earlier, were revealed.

Since they were not huge, they were agile on this chaotic battlefield. Using other insectoids as a cover-up, they tried to approach Lu Ye.

However, Lu Ye had been vigilant against them, so he wouldn’t let them achieve their goal.

The moment their eyes met, those canine insectoids realised their presence had been exposed. They growled and pounced on Lu Ye from different directions.

Lu Ye targeted the canine insectoid nearest to him and slashed at it.

The Dragon Spine Saber was so red it looked like burning iron. As it was wielded, any enemy that got in the way would be cut in half.

Just then, some ferocious auras appeared behind him as well as on each side of him. With other insectoids as a cover-up, more canine insectoids revealed themselves and besieged Lu Ye, flaring up at the same time.

Lu Ye was shocked, discovering that these canine insectoids were different from other insectoids. Not only could they collaborate, but they would also conceal themselves before flaring up.

In a dazed state, Lu Ye felt as if he had been besieged by a pack of wolves. They were more like wolf insectoids, not canine insectoids.

When more than ten canine insectoids in the Seventh-Order Divine Ocean Realm or above flared up simultaneously, even Lu Ye wouldn’t dare to ignore their attacks even though he was wearing the Dragon Throne. There was no doubt the Dragon Throne had incredible protection. It was an Armour Golem made from Dragon Scales, after all. Countless insectoids had used a myriad of moves since the battle started, but the Dragon Throne wasn’t damaged one bit. Only the surface of the Dragon Throne was tainted with all sorts of colours. However, Lu Ye’s heritage would be expended as a price to pay.

In other words, all the attacks landing on the Dragon Throne would exhaust his power.

Wearing the Dragon Throne itself would use a lot of his energy. Considering the double consumption of energy, Lu Ye couldn’t hold on for long even though he was now a Divine Ocean Realm Master.

[I can’t let so many canine insectoids attack me at the same time. Otherwise, I won’t be able to defend myself.]

As the thought turned over in Lu Ye’s mind, he charged towards the three canine insectoids in front of him at the speed of lightning. They soon clashed as he landed a fist on the first canine insectoid which was ready to bite him. After the canine insectoid was sent flying away, he landed a kick on another one and caused it to fly away as well.

Following that, he tackled the third canine insectoid with the Dragon Spine Saber.

As a red arc appeared, the huge saber struck the back of the canine insectoid. A crack instantly formed on the white skeletal shell, after which the saber jabbed right into it.

Any other insectoid would’ve been destroyed by the attack. However, these canine insectoids apparently had a much stronger defence. It wasn’t instantly killed by the Dragon Spine Saber.

Lu Ye madly infused his Spiritual Power into the saber and growled. At the same time, he pressed the weapon further down.

The unpleasant sound of friction was heard. The canine insectoid groaned in pain as its mouth squirmed. Emerald blood streamed out of its wound. When the sturdy shell was finally broken through, its small figure was cut in half.

Soon enough, all its vitality was gone.

Lu Ye wasn’t elated just because he had killed a canine insectoid as ferocious auras were inching closer to him from all directions.

The sounds of these canine insectoids crashing into the Dragon Throne were heard. They climbed onto the Dragon Throne like ants and fiercely bit different parts of it with their sharp teeth.

Lu Ye felt his heritage leaving him rapidly like a flood. Even the Dragon Throne started creaking.

He lifted his hand to pull away a canine insectoid from his right arm. The Dragon Spine Saber penetrated right into its squirming mouth.

The canine insectoid realised it was in danger, so it was resisting fiercely. However, Lu Ye would never let it struggle out of his grip.

The huge saber entered the canine insectoid through its mouth and stuck out from the back. Then, Lu Ye cut the enemy in half.

Following that, he extended his hand towards another canine insectoid. Much to his surprise, he failed to do that. When these canine insectoids saw their companion’s suffering, they moved backwards.

They seemed to understand that they couldn’t be captured by Lu Ye. Otherwise, they would be doomed.

Donning a solemn expression, Lu Ye finally discovered that these canine insectoids were more intelligent than the ordinary ones.

It was a wonder if every great insectoid was like this or if only these canine insectoids had this capability. Anyway, they were indeed different from an average insectoid.

A lot of his heritage was gone during the battle, but Lu Ye only managed to kill two canine insectoids. Naturally, he wasn’t pleased with the result. He targeted the canine insectoid nearest to him, ready to strike. However, a violent aura was suddenly approaching him from below. He looked down and saw an insectoid with a huge mouth shooting upwards at an incredible speed. Its mouth was as big as a house. Its teeth were crooked and hideous.

Lu Ye wanted to avoid the creature, but he was unable to do that as he was surrounded by countless insectoids.

The next moment, everything turned dark. He could no longer see the view around.

He was furious, not expecting he would be swallowed by an insectoid one day. The huge mouth supposedly belonged to a gigantic worm. He had seen them before. Although the worms were horrifying, their biggest weakness was that they couldn’t fly. They only moved around on the ground. Therefore, he never paid any attention to them.

However, that didn’t mean they couldn’t deal with enemies in the sky. Since they were gigantic, they could straighten their figures in an instant and swallow enemies in the sky with their mouths.

That was how Lu Ye was swallowed. Besides him, many insectoids around him had also been devoured.

He felt immense pressure coming from all directions. The Dragon Throne was also covered in an erosive power. Since it was a small space, it was hard for him to wield his saber. If an average Combat Cultivator was trapped like this, it would be difficult for him to break free. Once he was stuck here for too long, he would either be squeezed to death or be eroded until he died.

Nevertheless, Lu Ye wasn’t only adept at the Way of Combat.

As his Spiritual Power undulated, the abstruse elements of Yin and Yang intertwined with each other. In the blink of an eye, a red egg made from Spiritual Power was formed. When a high-pitched cry was heard, a Fire Phoenix broke the shell and shot out of it.

The scorching power burned everything as sizzling sounds were continuously heard. Soon, a hole formed in the worm’s stomach. After breaking free, the Fire Phoenix expanded its wings. A colossal being with a pair of wings the length of several dozen metres emerged.

If someone else saw this, he would see that the Dragon Throne seemed to have grown a pair of wings.

Lu Ye dragged the saber across the worm’s stomach and formed a cut. Then, he shot upwards, after which the worm’s organs fell out of its body.

After he shot into the sky to slaughter the enemies, the worm whose stomach had been cut open struggled madly on the ground before its death.

In the Pass, the Wards were humming as the cultivators worked together to fend off the insectoids’ series of attacks. All of them collaborated to achieve the same goal. The Ward Cultivators and artificers went around the walls to repair the worn-out Wards and replace the Spirit Artifacts and Spirit Treasures in the Ward Nodes.

The cultivators sensitively detected that the insectoids’ attacks against the Pass had weakened. They weren’t as mad as before.

Moreover, the scale of the insectoid attack had become smaller.

Naturally, they didn’t think the insectoids would have any mercy on them. The change happened because a certain person had clashed with the insectoids on his own, drawing most of their attention to him and killing a lot of them.
