His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2388: Chapter 683: Returned (1)_2

The staff stepped back, and after a minute, his car was driven up from the underground parking lot. The staff helped open the passenger door, and he guided her inside, before walking around to the driver’s seat.

On the way back, Qin Mu’s mind was occasionally unclear, but the brief moments of clarity were enough to unsettle her heart.

Mu Yichen didn’t say much during the drive, and the car’s interior was quiet, with only a hint of alcohol in the air, making it lively enough.

The night sky was too gloomy. Qin Mu looked out the window at the night sky, without a single star, without a glimmer of moonlight, empty and hollow, as if suppressing a rainstorm that was about to burst forth.

She only knew she had fallen asleep by the time they reached home.

She instinctively leaned against the car window, and when Mu Yichen turned to look, he saw her sleeping posture, sighed softly with some helplessness, and gently unbuckled her seatbelt.

After drinking alcohol, it seemed people significantly lost their guard against others. When asleep, it was even harder to be awoken.

Of course, Mu Yichen didn’t wake her up, but carried her home using the built-in elevator.

When Qin Mu was placed on the bed, she only felt more comfortable, stretched slightly, and turned aside to continue sleeping.

Mu Yichen initially bent over to watch her, but after seeing her moving, he sat by the bedside, his two hands hesitantly lingering beside her.

She seemed truly exhausted, for she rarely showed such an expression while awake.

Mu Yichen covered her with a quilt, intending to shower, but his phone rang. He glanced at Qin Mu, then took his phone out of the pocket, seeing that his daughter had called, and got up to head to the bathroom.

”Dad, are you with Mom?”

”Yes!”

”I want to talk to Mom!”

Huanhuan said directly.

”Your mom is asleep now, talk to her tomorrow.”

Mu Qingxin said softly.

”But I miss Mom!”

Huanhuan said, pouting.

”Last time, your mom left for so long, and you didn’t seem to miss her. Wake up early and go to bed. I’ll pick you up from school tomorrow afternoon.”

”Alright then, it’s good that you really are together with Mom. My brother and I just want you two to have some alone time, reconcile. Don’t think my brother and I don’t know you two are sleeping in separate rooms.”

Mu Yichen...

After Huanhuan hung up the phone, he rubbed his brows, thinking someday, there would be a woman who understands him better than his wife does, or at least equally well — that is, his sweetheart from a past life, his precious daughter.

Listening to Huanhuan’s tone reminded Mu Yichen of his younger self, although Huanhuan’s temper was somewhat similar to Mu Qingxin’s—stubborn, capricious, crafty—but ultimately, she was really like him.

After hanging up the call, Huanhuan quickly lay down, having heard a noise at the door.

Indeed, just as she lay down, she heard the door open, and it was Feng Fanghua. She came in to check if Huanhuan was asleep and worried that Huanhuan might have kicked off the blanket and caught a cold.

Feng Fanghua felt a little saddened upon hearing Huanhuan and Mu Yichen’s conversation at the door, thinking the siblings were pitying her. But in truth, they were trying to create time for their parents.

Feng Fanghua sighed inwardly, went over to adjust the blanket’s corners for her, and then raised her hand to touch her forehead.

Huanhuan was merely pretending to be asleep, and despite Feng Fanghua’s gentle and careful movements, she couldn’t help but open her eyes: ”Grandma!”

”Hmm! Sleep!”

Feng Fanghua didn’t ask her questions, just smiled warmly, urging her to sleep.

Feng Fanghua remembered when Huanhuan first arrived at their home, her little appearance...

In fact, from the first meeting, Feng Fanghua was incredibly fond of Huanhuan. She really wanted a granddaughter, and Huanhuan’s appearance, along with the look in her eyes, fulfilled her ultimate fantasy of having a granddaughter.

She cared more for Huanhuan than Chengcheng, but now she had to consider deeply, since the little girl wasn’t on her side, what should she do?

Feng Fanghua fully understood all the reactions of Huanhuan and Chengcheng, but accepting Qin Mu...

——

Next day, morning.

Shortly after six, Qin Mu gradually opened her eyes. Her eyes felt excessively dry, so she raised her hand to rub them, then struggled to get off the bed.

There was no one else in the bed, but seeing the gloomy weather outside made her feel physically heavy.

Coming back to this sort of dreadful weather, who knows if it’s good or bad.

After getting up and washing up, she headed downstairs. Initially thinking Mu Yichen had already left, she was surprisingly met by him coming from the dining area. As he raised his eyes to look at her, his gaze was deep and he softly said, ”Morning!”
