His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2366: Chapter 678: Ten Million Miles in Pursuit of a Wife (10)_4

”You little brat!”

Huanhuan was furious, and took off after him again.

Qin Mu...

Forget it, she could barely take care of herself right now, how was she supposed to manage anyone else?

Qin Mu thought for a moment. Hearing movement from the kitchen, her whole body instinctively went rigid, and the next second she immediately ran toward the bathroom.

After Mu Yichen came out, he casually tucked the corner of his shirt that had slipped out back into his pants, then walked into the living room and looked around. He finally found the pair of siblings chasing each other, and let out a helpless sigh, as if slipping back into the strict role of a father.

”How long are you two planning to keep this up?”

”Mu Chenghuan, Mu Chengyang!”

No one answered the first sentence, but once he called them by their full names, the brother and sister froze at once and turned, blankly staring at their dad.

The two finally came back to their senses. Huanhuan blurted out, ”Daddy, you guys came out already!”

Mu Yichen’s eyelids twitched slightly.

”Just now you and Mommy had the door closed!”

Chengcheng chimed in dully.

This time both the corner of Mu Yichen’s eye and the corner of his mouth twitched. These kids...

Precocious! And there’s no cure for precocious kids!

Mu Yichen couldn’t be bothered to deal with them and simply said, in a flat tone, ”Go wash your hands, time to eat!”

”Okay!”

”Okay!”

The siblings answered in unison, then Mu Yichen suddenly turned his head and asked them, ”Where’s your mom?”

”Don’t know!”

”Don’t know!”

Again, perfectly in sync.

But just as the two reached the bathroom door, Qin Mu came out from inside, clearing her throat, looking all serious.

Hearing that her voice didn’t sound quite right, Mu Yichen thought back to just now in the kitchen—she’d probably suffered for it—and went to the kitchen to make her a cup of honey water.

Before they ate, he lightly tapped the table. There was a cup of honey water at his hand.

Qin Mu lowered her eyes to look at it, then reached out and took it.

”Daddy, I want honey water too!”

”Me too, I want some!”

Seeing Qin Mu drink, the two of them both wanted some.

”If you want to drink, you can have some after you finish eating.”

Mu Yichen said coolly, his eyes full of contempt as he looked at the pair of siblings.

”Hmph!”

”Hmph!”

The brother and sister were always like some kind of double act, forever repeating the same catchphrases.

Mu Yichen...

Qin Mu...

Both thinking: I drink a cup of honey water and you two have to copy that too?

Qin Mu didn’t know what was with her; maybe she was afraid they’d snatch it away, but she actually finished it very quickly.

Then, under the siblings’ disdainful and disgruntled stares, she started eating.

Her throat did feel a bit better. President Mu’s remedy actually worked surprisingly well. But why did he suddenly go and make her honey water? Could it be...

A faint blush crept up behind her ears of its own accord.

Mu Yichen lifted his eyes slightly, saw the somewhat unnatural look on her face, and then went on eating as if nothing had happened.

Some things were only understood between the two of them. The feeling was very subtle.

After dinner, the four of them played Chinese chess together, father and son as one team, Qin Mu and Huanhuan as the other.

Huanhuan was always the one who won, so she was always the most excited, like she’d been injected with chicken blood.

As for Chengcheng, he kept giving Mu Yichen that look that clearly said he wasn’t impressed—Dad, are you throwing the game?

Mu Yichen acted completely at ease, and just said quietly to him, ”Take it seriously. This round, we’re definitely going to win.”

As soon as Mu Yichen said that, the mother–daughter team across from them immediately wilted. Qin Mu could still put up a front, but Huanhuan pouted. ”Daddy, stop trying to scare people! Mom and I are definitely going to win.”

The key point was—they had Mommy!

With that thought, Huanhuan suddenly felt confident inside. Only twenty minutes later...

”Alright! Time for bed. We’ll play again tomorrow!”

Mu Yichen sat back on the sofa and instructed the siblings mildly.

”We’re playing again tomorrow?”

”We’re not playing tomorrow!”

The two siblings trudged upstairs, their enthusiasm gone.

Qin Mu and Mu Yichen sat diagonally opposite each other, staring across the space between them, both at a loss.

No, it was Qin Mu who was feeling guilty.

Her conscience was gnawing at her!

Qin Mu quickly dropped her gaze. ”I’m going to rest too.”

”Mm.”

Mu Yichen’s throat felt a bit off, so in the end that was all he said.

Hearing his response, Qin Mu lifted her eyes a fraction, then got up and left.

Mu Yichen sat there, looking perfectly composed.

Qin Mu took a shower, then lay on the bed feeling like she couldn’t breathe, tossing and turning, unable to figure out how she was supposed to fall asleep.

Back then in the kitchen—heh—he’d suddenly gone all beastly, practically merciless. That posture, those movements, that... being forced by circumstances...

Qin Mu’s throat seemed to stir on its own, and she irritably hugged her pillow tight.

Mu Yichen went out, standing outside in the cold wind.

Later, Qin Mu stood at the window in her pajamas, and happened to see, under the tree downstairs, a man pacing back and forth, smoking.
